He paid his dues and he's speaking out against the commission of such crimes, pointing out that change is possible. Also its important to understand the reasoning and psychology behind the crimes so as to adress the cause not just the symptoms. This is not an opportunity to minimize the victim's experience and the trauma suffered. If more ppl like him come out and speak openly we have a better chance of reforming a broken society our youth need to understand what real values are, what defines success and why they generally exist. They need to know there's hope for a change in direction and purpose, more importantly the more they see themselves as valuable human beings the more they will have compassion for others

I was raised in the farm, pushed myself to study and with God grace I got a job. If you were not raised in Township it's not a place you can stay in, I remember we used to say in township it's very loud when we use to visit because rural areas are quiet. Now you qualify for the bond and you qualify for a car. Now you live to pay for the installments, does that make you rich? No. It's heartbreaking to try so much with the money you don't have, now you are made to suffer for the little we have. Not every person who live in urban areas or driving a nice car is rich. I'm so sad because the trauma of being hijacked is pain that can live with you all your life. I was raised in rural area but I knew from Magazine going to town or a little of TV that I want to live a better life that I will work hard for. Yes sometimes doesn't work the way you want but stealing and killing people doesn't bring any joy either. There is something called Karma all things you do to others come back to you multiple time, whatever race we inflict pain to, either way or other it's come back to us. Someone said if there one person in other Continent suffering we all are suffering. As humanity we need to be kind so that the Mother can be kind to us. It's sad because his parents left him to a person who didn't care for him and who thought money and criminal was a priority. He groom him to be like him but if he groomed him to be different in the community help with school that's way giving a child positive journey. I know we judge but I've learned from Oprah book to say sometimes before we judge instead of asking what wrong with you. We should ask what happened to you. I'm learning that from the story, the abandonment leard him to crime and unfortunately I'm big believer that his path had to go through this journey so that Today he can bring awareness as crime in South Africa is so highest. We consistently living in fear, we no longer feeling safe. Any tips to protect ourselves the better. Thank you to the guest for sharing his story, it's much appreciated.

Solly told the 'Inside of a Hijacker's Mind' very well. The whole time, I thought of how most, if not all, our local dramas/soapies always glamorise the life of crime; how they've normalised us seeing violence on our screens. Then outside, we cry 'end violence, end crime' then go back to being desensitised in our homes. Such a sad pathetic reality. We are all complicit to this reality - government, kingpins, criminals, the victims, the public, storytellers, me and you. Let's stop treating symptoms- people are dying; the world is a scary place to live in.

Not having a father/mother/schooling is not an excuse to commit a crime. We choose to do evil or good.Lets not excuse criminal behavior.I absolutely hate criminals. We all have problem and issues but we aren't shooting up towns. Nxa

Yeah, he's the one. The guy has really rehabilitated and is doing well in life. Not only was jail was transformative for this man, it gave him something to rely on in education. I stan this man.

Everytime I listen to him, his life story always sound fresh. I watched his raw story on one of the channels, but his story about his granny's visit when he was about to be graduate from prison was a cherry on top. I love how he opened up and love the man he has become. Much respect bro Solly

Nothing justifies a person who highjacks cars that people work hard for. They don’t just highjack white people, they also highjack those poor black nurses and teachers. I am saddened by this story as someone whose black civil servant parent has been highjacked twice 😢

Incredible Solly! I have started to follow his stories! It is amazing how he changed his life in jail and even now. The saddest part that made my heart sore his mum dumping him there n there, never had a rship with his parents. Every two years changing schools. And another part he hates women, still healing from his childhood background. Some 3h30mins interview he unpacked everything, yuh it was too much to swallow.

Interesting story! But who else feels like stories of this nature should be left unpacked? It's lessons like this that fuel more criminality in townships.

If nobody talks the myth will live on. Such persons who changed need to share their lifestory for change to happen. Especially for boys
