I raised my sister when I was 13 and she was 10, until I was 18 and she was 15. I helped her with homework, acted as her sister (gossip, talking about school), cooked food every night, helped her with her periods, helped her sleep every night due to her insomnia and helped her through all friendship and relationship problems while I juggled school, taking care of my ill mother and a job. Now that she's 21, she's totally cut me off. Today I got married and she arranged a shift on work just to miss it. She never said anything. I live in a flat with my husband right next to the main house. She's cut me off and would never tell me why no matter how often I asked. My point is, not everyone will remember it as a positive experience and will have conflicting feelings (is she my sister or my mom?). Sometimes people will just cut you out after you raised them. It's complex because no sibling should have to raise their younger siblings, but it's so common and it doesn't always end up well. Just don't take what bonds you have with your siblings for granted.

Just to put it out there cause I can’t write a letter now, to Jesse thank you for being there for me as a father. I never had a father figure until you showed up when I was young. I honor you to this day and you still teach me things in spirit. I wish i could see you to tell you but I know you can see me and hear me. I love you.

This touched me so much. I've been a mom to my nephew since he was 3 months old. He'll be 13 in June! I tell everyone he's my son. He thought me how to be a mom at the age of 19 and I wouldn't change it for the world. Best thing that ever happened to me. Love you baby.
