We watch because we’re emotionally invested in you and feel a sense of pride as you grow and succeed. It’s fun to sometimes think back and say “wow! Look how far he’s come from stuffing tooth pick and legos into shoot gun shells, and now he owns a resort!” Through your hard work, you’ve inspired so many people myself included. That’s why we watch Matt. I lost my wife 2 years ago at the young age of 42 but I love to remember how much she would laugh when I would drop everything because you had just posted a new video. She used to call it “Dude Ranch” instead of demo ranch but she always watched and laughed right beside me. Keep growing and keep succeeding. Demolitia forever!

Even cinder blocks will fail. You need to use actual retaining wall blocks to tie everything back and at that it shouldn’t be more than 4’ tall without actual engineering.

Grouted CMUs with even a couple of bars of steel would be more than efficient and effective
@robl4079
@robl4079 23 минут бұрын
@@DirtyD07 not at a height of 6+feet. Yes it will last longer, but won’t be a permanent fix, it will slowly lean forward further and further until it tips over like in the video. Especially a straight wall, curved will help. You need a wall that pushes back against the dirt and holds it in place. There is a crapton of weight in dirt and no matter what, a straight vertical wall will always tip over unless there is something like earth anchors installed deep in the hill. However the most economical solution is, like I said earlier, retaining wall, properly sized, and great drainage.
@DirtyD07

Get some of your bigger earth moving equipment and remove all the gravel and other debris, use it to build up the banks. For the one at 11:05 you should try cleaning the dirt away from the rock to allow the water to flow across the top of the rock. The dirt on top of the "waterfall" area is probably damming up the flow, which is allowing some water and dirt to collect there. If it's a smooth path off rock all the way to the waterfall, then it shouldn't get as wet or muddy except when it is actually raining.

A quick solution may be to just clean up the loose gravel/rock, put forms around the existing wall, and just pour over all of it with concrete, for a nice concrete wall, using the existing material as additional internal structure. No demolition cost, no material disposal cost (mostly), just the cost of the concrete, and you may not need as much as you would from scratch. 🤔 It'll be structurally sound enough, more than this wall was, that's for sure.

As someone that has built walls like that . I see it did not have enough drainage. The block wall is not needed if the other wall is done right and vice versa. I know a company that would do him right but it is in west Kentucky

First with the retaining wall cinder blocks just aren't great for them. Second it is typically better to just fill with rocks without cementing them in to allow water to pass through.

That wall was so bad, holy cow. You should definitely put pressure on your contractor to make it right, that's unacceptable

For a huge tall wall 15k is wayyy cheap . My cost for having 1 done 100ft by 5~6ft tall is 1k a horizontal foot

You should make a year round campground to go with your Airbnb rentals. Would bring more people to the resort.

I've seen a bunch of poorly built walls collapse in SATX in some really nice neighborhoods. That's what happens when you sub out your work to workers found in a Home Depot parking lot.

I don't even want to know what those culverts cost, the cost of pipes alone has gone nuts.
