I Was Sent A Massive Lot Of Model Trains ◈ Unboxing & Haul

I was very surprised to see a parcel of this scale arrive last Saturday morning however I was even more surprised by what turned out to be inside - a large variety of model train stuff including: locomotives, rolling stock and other train related items. There were also several custom shirts and a hat fitted with SMT Mainline branding which was something I thought was really special. I am exceedingly amazed by the generosity and I'm honestly still in disbelief. I would like to give a special thanks to David Z to G Scale who sent most of this stuff and I would also like to thank DBtech for contributing to the hershey set, sent by both of them. I can't wait to get on working and testing this stuff. Thanks to everyone for your support!

DM&IR Productions that engine is an old AHM B&O F45. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the SDP40-F was only a recent development by Athearn Genesis, is it not?

4:56 the E8 is in fact n E9, the box says it. Honestly, there are probably Zero (0) differences between the two on the model power unit, considering the minimal day in in the locomotives. Anyway, you got some nice stuff, hope the trip to Jamaca goes well, Harrison!

The main spotting difference between an E-8 and an E-9 locomotive is the gasket used around the ring of the headlight glass, and some models actually replicate this, depending on how detailed the models are. 💙 T.E.N.

That Bachmann DASH 7-23B and matching tank car for Hershey's only came in a train set as a special edition. They only released it once a year for about 5 years. You got one of the super hard to find items there. The red and white car is an all door lumber boxcar prototype version that Life Like made in the 1970's to 2000's. Take very good care of those items as you wont' be able to find them again.

How can I get back into model railroading and build a cost effective layout? What do your recommend?

For locomotives I would suggest used athearn blue box locomotives, you can find them cheap and they last a really long time. Used rolling stock from them is good too. Buying track used can be a great way to save too but make sure you get nickel silver track and I would only buy the straights used. Used curves and switches can be trouble. The best way to get this stuff cheap is usually at train shows although regular hobby shops can have a good deal once in a while too. I would generally avoid Ebay for used stuff as most of it is over priced. I hope this helps
