Thank-you TTS for this podcast, I thought that what was shared was fantastic and insightful. I’m a guy and had experienced similar events. I studied in a female dominant field (mental health field) and I remembered there was once when I was trying to get placement for my training, I got a friend to help me asked the organization if they needed another intern, and the organization says no because I was a guy. I didn’t even get a chance for an interview and got rejected. And this affects how I conduct myself within the sessions and even working with other female colleague and client, I also created barriers when working with a female client which may not be beneficial to my practice (because of the stereotype revolving around male gender). It felt tough to work in a field dominated by either gender and we need to work 3 or even 4 times as hard to proof our competency and fight off gender stereotypes. Totally can feel the frustration and weight down by this kind of gender-specific stereotypes.

When i first came out to work, i saw one of my male senior sexual harass one of my work permit colleague after work by hugging her from her back. I took a photo as proof after few times i notice that, but our management by then was not like Stephanie. I decided to quit the job after a while. Sadly, singapore law doesn’t really side the victim. So, we have to learn to protect ourselves. 靠自己。

I love how the topics of TTS are so relevant to current issues! At first I was hoping for juicy gossip but the discussion of and addressing these social issues are even more important. Thanks for being such great ambassadors and reducing my guilt from bingeing on KZbin. 😍

i remember when i was in secondary school, i bent down to pick up my wallet and this guy ran pass me and slap my butt (and it was a damn hard slap). it was so mortifying and he was damn fast and i didn't see who it was. no one helped me or bother to stand up for me. i always remember that day i kept it in, but the pain was still there. it was so many years ago, but this pain stayed with me.

I want to share this with you girls. All of you girls. If in any case you report sexual harassment/assault to the police (in any country), the first thing they’ll do is not to calm you down or give you comfort but to ask you for evidence. If you don’t have evidence, most likely the culprit will just merely get marked for a warning. So please, if you’re going home late at night or in dark places, only walk in places with surveillance cameras around. Don’t wait around in places without them. If there are no surveillance cameras like if you’re on public transport, try to get someone trustworthy to record evidence down for you. Or get a trustworthy witness to testify for you. You don’t want to go home feeling insulted and humiliated for reporting a real case yet having the culprit go home marked without dealing with any consequences. I say this because my girlfriend has dealt with this 3 times in her life, in SG and in 2 other western countries. The first time she was molested she cried at the police station, but thankfully the second and third time she went directly to the police station. The police told us that those CCTV records don’t usually last for more than 6 months, so it’s better to make a report asap. Anyway, some police think that if you dress sexily or prettily then it’s normal to get sexually harassed/assaulted. Both police men and women included. Just thinking about it infuriates me.

tbh I would prefer engaging women like nina for such services as a woman cos I would more comfortable. Men need to get rid of the mindset that they are better at us at certain jobs (just because it is male dominated) kudos to women who go through so much shit in male dominated industries and excel at their job. But wtf is up with that shot lady, WHY are you normalising such acts

Love this podcast channel! Thank you for creating wonderful contents and never failing to inject humour! Many seem to think that sexualizing women would be done mostly by men. Shockingly, I have had my share of being sexualized as a woman by a woman. A female ex-superior of mine had always commented (read: judged) my ability to handle issues because I am married but without a child. And because I am not a mum (respect to all Mums really!), I will inevitably lack the capability and maturity to approach certain work issues. During many of our 121, "Sometimes I wish you are a Mum" "You really should have a child so that you will be matured" would be thrown at me. Perhaps, she missed to notice that maturity in me or perhaps, I lack the maturity required. However, a person should never be judged or penalized because she is not a mother. Sometimes, a woman may choose to not have a child. Sometimes, a woman may not be able to have a child. But that should not make them any lesser. That being said, all genders should always respect our counterparts! "More Equality. More Hope. More Humanity. More Acceptance. More Love" ❤

I love this podcast too. But I wonder if everyone is aware that the reverse happen to single women in office too? Some married colleagues who say that you are not handling things maturely because you are not married and you do not have children.

I used to work in construction line. I enjoy working on site but it is really a tough environment for woman. I ever met a client that nic pick every single shit but when my male colleague talked to him. He immediately give the green light and commented why assign a woman. I dun work with woman one. In the end I work in the back end and my colleague handle the liaise part.

Thanks sisters for the sharing, especially Sylvia and reinforcing that being sexualised in any sense even if it's in a nightclub is not okay. Really appreciate the sharing especially because of what you had gone through in the past. I am someone who dislike girls/females who act cute, pretty etc just to get a guy's attention and to get the guys to spend on them, buy things for them, and then the girls dump them afterwards. To me such behaviour is quite disgusting. To me such behaviour is utilising the fact that "I'm a female" in order to "milk" money from guys. This is also an example of how even females in society thinks that girls are the "weaker" ones and are entitled to such benefits. I won't say I'm a really an alpha, but I'm totally cool with being a working adult, earning for my own spending, satisfied with hokkien mee, (attempt to) cook, laundry, cleaning because I grew up seeing my mum working, managing 4 kids, maintaining the house.

Sad to say molest is a compoundable offence in Singapore, the offender can offer a sum of compensation for the victim to 'forgive' the crime. It really makes molest sound less serious than it really is. And yes workplace sexual harassment and women objectifying is common :(

I used to work at this local sme. Our dress code for female employees was dress or skirts for bottoms only, no pants. But the funny thing is, we were not allowed to go out for lunch because we have our own cook, so we stay in the office from 9-6, neither do most of us meet clients. Once, we had a beer fest in the office. As a new joiner then, the female hr manager came up to me and asked if i could help out. But before asking me to help out, she first asked ‘Do you have an off shoulder dress?’. I said yes and asked why. She continued nicely ‘we need you to help out w the beer fest event.’. This event required the girls to serve drinks (mostly beer, cos, well, beer fest) . Of cos, i expressed discomfort at the idea of wearing off shoulder dress. Why do i need to? For the entertainment of my male colleagues and old male managers in the company? They eventually scrapped that. But the girls still had to wear ‘chamber-maid-looking’ aprons. Apparently, the previous years and the following years (after i left), they continued w this. What angers me was that a female (who is a mother) actually asked me. Now when I look back, apart from showing emotions that I am uncomfortable, maybe I should have said something as well. From time to time, I’d qn myself if i was been overly sensitive, but am constantly reminded of the thought that had that happened to my mum, sister, best friend, daughter, I’d have been very angry and would object.

Oh for guy sexual harassment, I know one story. I worked in this Chinese restaurant in Jewel right, the restaurant have 3 managers. A 20something Malaysian Manager, a 30 something Malaysian manager and a 50 something China manager. Ok so I was working there during the december holidays (before covid broke out) as a waiter, plus I familiar with the outlet. The one with the most say is this 30 something years old Malaysian Manager, and she kept these 2 O Level Boys in the restaurant. She didn't per say harass, but you can see how hum sap she was and she kept asking the fair skinned 16 year old guy to help her do things. And can understand why she think he handsome, he 1.8 something and then very fair. I think women do a better job if you hum sup and satisfied via a different way. Whether he feel uncomfortable I don't know, but he manage to get a lot of shift in the restaurant for her to gawk and smile at. But it does get me sick to my stomach looking at the way she look at him, but well, it wouldn't even constitute harassment even, but that's what I saw.

Because I had the same shit happen to me when i was a staff, then when being promoted to the management level, i really did my best to protect my innocent sisters and brothers from the perverts even when my higher management wanted me to do otherwise. My girls and I were in sales & marketing as well, so now I think it's kind of a sick stigma when it comes to our jobs. We like our asses slapped sometimes, but ONLY with consent ok.

So I’ll share a funny story from the club. When I was a young guy living his best life, I was walking through the club and this girl walked past me and grabbed a handful of my @ss and I mean a handful. I was shocked 😳 I felt violated but her and her girls were smiling and laughing (omg I can’t believe she did that) and if I had known better I probably would of talked to her hahah... but instead I thought we are at a club and we are both here to have fun etc. I was a clubbing newbie just starting to really get into the vibe of Friday and Saturday night club nights. So like Back 10-15 years ago and maybe this behaviour was acceptable in society culture (North America) but In 2020 this is not acceptable unless asked for before hand 😉

There was once I worked at an IT company and there are only 2 girls in the team(me and another girl). One day, It happens that I am the only girl in the server room room and my male colleagues made some sexual harassment remarks on me. 1 guy asked another guy to lie on TOP of me and I was really shocked.. but of course he didn’t la.. And then there is another time my leader and I was going to the garbage area to dispose off those hardware boxes, on the way, there is nobody else and then he starts to moan so so so loudly. I was really terrified. Ever since that day, I wore pants to work as I feel scared..i still remember how those guys look at me.. I didn’t manage to stay more than a month in that job. I am scared of working with so many guys after that.. they seem pretty decent at first but...ya :)

Women want everyone to see them having equal knowledge about cars, but more than happy to ask men for advice on cars instead of a women. Women say don't judge knowledge by gender, but then would never approach a men for advice on make up brands and tips. lol. Y'all see the hypocrisy in this?
@officialzacadammorrison
@officialzacadammorrison 4 жыл бұрын
The first one is knowledge gap. It's not gender. Second, women asking man for makeup advice is depends. Is the makeup goal to impress men or to look good for the day? This are different goals and a lot more nuances involved. There are a lot of topics that females are hypocritical about. Obviously I won't blast it here because you can only have a certain level basedline on topics when you try to compressed it in an hour or 2, for many channels. Whether it's here or anywhere. Many people will not want to go down the rabbit hole and see the full picture. :) Because it's disturbing and questions everything you believe 😉
