In Europe it isn't that weird that someone knows more than one language. Especially, when you are "half-half" (She said that she is from Hungary, but also she is half Italian) For Example: In Poland we have a lot of Ukrainian people and they are polyglots (In Ukraine they speak in Ukrainian and Russian and learning English at school) and when they arrived to Poland to find a job, they have to learn Polish. I am a teen too and I am half Pole - half Ukrainian. So I know Polish fluently, Ukrainian almost fluently, English (not perfect, but it isn't that bad), some Russian (I understand all but I never know what to say) and I am learning German at school.

@@alistairt7544 that’s what they do here, in Ukraine. Unfortunately children, in normal settings, don’t get enough immersion. Even though I'm not as lucky as some other people who grew up in bilangual households (I'm kinda jalous honestly :P), I still feel blessed that my only native language is french. I feel like it really sets us up in a fairly good starting point when it comes to learning other languages, it's at the same time a romance language that is fairly close to all the others romance languages, throughout history it influenced english greatly which is great when it comes to learning english, and it also has a lot of consomns and vowel sounds that are present in a lot of non-romance languages.

In Europe (Central Europe in particular) multilingualism is really common. For example here, in Ukraine EVERYONE I’ve ever met in my life could speak both Russian and Ukrainian. English isn’t as common to hear, but there is a part of population that can speak it well too. As for other languages, i would say that a small percent of population can speak French. I myself am polyglot. I speak (from the most proficient, to the least): Russian, English, Ukrainian, French, Spanish (which i’m currently studying). You can wonder: how come you’re more proficient in English than in Ukrainian? The thing is - in The Eastern part of Ukraine we primarily speak Russian, so i almost never use Ukrainian in my daily speech. For English (and French), my boyfriend is from Canada so I speak those 2 everyday. Thanks for reading this lol! 😁✨

The thing the Romanian asked you in French is actually what our French teachers ask us daily in French class, basically "what homework did you prepare today?", a meme at this point, probably a lot of us remember that phrase from high-school. As for what everyone else said, it stands true for Romania too. We take English (mandatory), French or German or Spanish. You get some basic knowledge from there, plus with Romanian being a latin language it's not hard to pick up at least another latin language. Romanians also go to work in Western Europe quite often, so you would find a few people who can speak 3/4 languages. Probably not the majority, but from what I am seeing it's likely that a higher percentage of Europeans are polyglots than of Americans.

Yes. Eight languages. After learning languages like Spanish, French and Italian come much easier. Same thing for Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish. Maybe I worded it incorrectly, I do not use most of these languages on a daily, so I cannot possibly speak like a native, but I can understand fully and make my points across. Also, keep in mind I have been studying a languages since a very very young age. Knowing multiple Germanic languages or multiple Romance Languages is not the big shock you think it is. Multiple Slavic languages or quite literally any language in all of Asia, (Sorry, I don’t focus on those languages so I don’t know many terms.) as an American could be pretty unbelievable. Or if I could speak Arabic or Greek or something on top of this, that’d be pretty interesting. But, when you boil down my knowledge, the “Lmao, no.”, is really just unnecessary, you are acting as if i claimed to speak every language created or be fluent in ancient hebrew, but I’m not, I literally can speak a few languages that are very similar.

Tres bonne video comme toujours! Tu as du talent Raul! It's very impressive, I wish I could speak more languages. I understand a little bit all of the latin languages (french, spanish, italian, portuguese and haitian creole) but I really can't speak any other than french. Also understand/speak a tiny bit of Japanese and Mandarin, but not enough for even a basic conversation. Mais je peux demander de l'aide dans les épiceries asiatiques! XD

@@RaulCamarena3 Hey this is also me, writing from my work account because it's simpler with a keyboard than on the cellphone. So if that has any weight in your decisions, the languages I'm interested into are Mandarin, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and Russian. Also if you are interested in knowing why I like these languages: Madarin: Love all asian foods. Learnt to make some KILLER chinese foods during covid. Gave me the urge to learn the language Japanese: I did Karate before, learning what the words means instead of memorizing the moves names made it way easier for me. Made me want to learn more. Brazilian portuguese: Most beautiful language in the world, hands down. Nuff said. Russian: I'm HUGE into space flight. Russia have some of the best rocket engineers, I would love to be able to understand interviews.

In Europe it is really common to speak 3 or 4 languages( if you pay attention in school). I had 2 mandatory languages I needed to have in school. My native language(Dutch) and English. You need to get a passable grade on both otherwise you'll fail. Then I had 2 other languages, french and german. I had to take french for 3 years and german for 2 years. I was shit with languages in school so I don't remember anything from french and german

Yea ppl brag about that they know languages as a teen but if u have mixed parents, grew up in other country than native or they teach u few since a kid it doesn't matter cuz its not like a 4 year old could learn any language on its own. Simply parents want them to be polyglots. Pathetic :/ now it's popular to teach kids few languages but it's something when u start to learn it as an adult.
