@@Ultamike fair warning, the creator tragically passed away around volume 3. For many, the writing jumps off a cliff and the choreography also loses some quality. Definitely watch and come to your own conclusions though

if you do decide to give rwby a watch, don't worry about the length, the first three volumes are pretty short with episodes not usually going more than 15-20 minutes max, the animation and acting gets better and better as the series progresses too also, you can upload full episode reactions, rooster teeth encourages it, if they get a strike just contact them and they'll get it straightened out quickly

@@Ultamike You don't normally get strikes, just blocks... They will likely still claim revenue either way though... Unless maybe you have the image pretty obscured and maybe the sound low (that also helps avoid the blocks, but if you plan things out and do stuff in advance, you could still prepare things so you can work to a schedule)... Normally it takes about three working days for them to get to unblocking it (sooner if you're lucky), but remember that they don't work weekends or certain holidays etc.

- the Red trailer was really a proof of concept video and is only semi-canon to the series. But the other 3 trailers are canon backstory. - The singer (Casey Williams) was only 13 (14?) when these trailers were made. She's the primary singer for the soundtracks of all the seasons - While there are a number of fans who've walked away from RWBY over the years (season 3 ended on a dark note that some didn't like, for example) even the people who hate the direction the show went admit that the soundtracks are fire. - RWBY also is the initials of the 4 girls. - The first couple seasons the episodes were fairly short. Many reactors watch 2 or 3 eps at a time. Episodes in later seasons get longer as the budget grew. - the original creator (Monty Oum, RIP) was a martial artist and liked to make sure the characters fighting styles flowed realistically. He also liked fights that were more mobile/acrobatic than say, 2 boxers standing around just swinging at each other.

I would recommend watching the complete/movie version of the first volume. The first volume was super low budget and that lead to many episodes/chapters getting split in half, meaning that it has a lot of short episodes, but all have the opening... Which is a banger, so not the end of the world if you watch it a lot, but you know? If you decide to watch individual episodes to help break it up better, I would recommend pairing chapters with "Part 1" in the title with the following one, because they were meant to be one episode and will be extra short. This won't be an issue after the first volume/season, but yeah... Hopefully this is helpful. It's a little rough, especially at the beginning, but it arguably gets better each volume... Overall anyway... Some things might get better while other things get worse... Even with all the flaws, there's a lot to love though. It's one of my favourites... There's so much to get into... So many cool ideas... You might want to be careful about comments a bit though... Some RWBY fans get a bit excited and will spoil things without intending to... Mostly not big stuff, but you know? If you can get anyone to moderate the comments for you, that might be useful.

-the Late, Great creator of the series Monty Oum (Rest in Peace) made that first trailer all by himself as a pilot pitch to Rooster Teeth, they accepted it and formed what is known as the "Crwby" who helped animate it and eventually took over after Monty's passing. -a common thing to keep in mind for this universe: nearly every weapon is also some form of gun -the animation only gets better (for the most part) from here, but the best parts of this series are the music and fight choreography in my opinion -the wolf creatures in the "Red" trailer are a type of "creature of Grimm" known as a "Beowulf" -the White trailer is split between the past (the fight with the knight thing) and the singing (the present at that time) -the person who sung in all these trailers (Casey Lee Williams (i might have misspelt her name)) was only about 13 when she sung the soundtrack at this point! Mad Talent! -one of the inspirations for RWBY was fan animations of Final Fantasy so you are kinda right with the Final fantasy connections -Ruby and Yang are half sisters

Keep in mind that these are the 'trailers' for the series. Animation is questionable at the start as well as dialogue, but hopefully you're in for the long run. Volume 9 (Season 9 in their terms, avg 12 episodes) started airing and will finish in a few months, so you'll either be in time for the finale or finish during the half-year hiatus.

Please watch the whole show, I swear to god it's worth it. Most of the shit talk you hear about this show is from people who couldn't sit through the first couple of seasons (which is like 3 hours in total) and judged it based on the low budget start of the show. The ideas, the music, the visuals, the characters are all amazing and worth the time it takes to really get into the show. RWBY is RT's last saving grace for me, only reason I'm still following that company.

I also got mad hype when I heard you say "I was hating on this rwby shit, this is gas" that's some genuine honesty that I love to hear. People really do not give this show a chance to cook sometimes. The interior legal limit of a small venue was pretty much the entire team for the first couple seasons.

The Red Trailer was Monty Oum's "pitch" to Rooster Teeth, a sort of "proof of concept" video....he was an accomplished videogame animator and had already helped them up their game with Red vs. Blue. The higher ups were impressed by the Red Trailer and gave the green light for the first season of RWBY.

Volume 7 is probably my favourite... Arguably the most solidly great volume in the show, although it will possibly depend on your preferences... I feel like volume 8 could have done with another draft or something, but things go crazy, which is potentially very entertaining and cool and many love that volume as well... Although certain story elements have been divisive... Not overly keen on the voice actor change, but I get it, even if I'm not sure how legitimate it all was... I didn't notice straight away, because I never paid much attention to him, but on rewatch I can now notice it clearly... New guy is still pretty good, but I do think the previous VA was a bit better... If he was your favourite, that might be an issue... I still recommend checking volume 7 and 8 out though.
