I recently figured this out on my own, and ever since then I've been painting again, but binge watching this channel so i can leap over more obstacles.

Wow wow it's such a big step going from mixing yellow and blue to get green to using complementary colors to get the color that will work, painting is science

Thank you Florent for this helpful video on color mixing. I've been a casual student of color theory for awhile and you're right, it doesn't always work on paper or a chart exactly the way it does with real paints. Color wheels are a great reference to start with, but other variables will factor into the outcome... such as the tinting strength of the pigment. I've been a huge follower of your tutorials and I appreciate everything you do for all of us!✌🏻🎨

I really enjoy your videos. I run a body shop for 30 years and of course in that time I’ve messed with matching paint and deciding what Color goes with what. About 20 years ago I got back into airbrushing and I paint lots of bikes this massive amounts of grayscale skulls or Pinup‘s or whatever they want. I’m now moving more towards painting acrylic murals as a side gig as well as just learning more stuff. all that long winded introduction, I guess I’m trying to say I enjoy walking somebody who absolutely knows color at the masters level. I really have been inspired by your work and appreciate you taking the time to do it.

Hi Florent. Love your channel. Bit of an odd topic, but would you ever cover using oil paints for miniature figurine painting? It seems that incorporating oil paint above or sometimes beneath acrylic paints is common.

Current WIP is a marine piece by Turner - so true that patching does not have to be exact in colour! I'm lucky enough to have an extremely high-res image of the original, and I can see that where masts and spars have been adjusted and patched round, the colour varies from original sky work colour. Totally unnoticeable colour variance with the eye at any distance, but perceptible microscopically. This can be emphasized in Photoshop to be even more obvious - so much so that you can clearly see the brushmarks used to patch.

Will you be making more of your color theory posters? I would certainly like to have one. :-)

So it's not just about a jump in value, but a jump in color as well?

7:30 "Cyan kills red. Blue kills orange. Green kills magenta." Until color mixing becomes automatic and intuitive, I think I need to print this out and stick it under the glass of my palette.
