It likely also helps, that those "Colors" represent an factual darker value. So where is should be darker it actually is darker..

Kelvin temperature reverses throughout the day. Warm shadows and cool light tones denote 12 o’clock noon lighting, whereas the shadow appears cool and the highlights appear warm at sunrise and sundown. Neutral lighting at 10 am and 2 pm are best left for rendering architecture.

Waouh merci beaucoup ! Je débute en peinture à l'huile et je galère à étaler ma peinture. Je vais tester cette méthode. Et je trouve que la 2ème technique est vraiment très belle avec un beau relief et suggérant les coups de pinceaux sans les montrer réellement

Don't get too local tho, each pixel is slightly different. It is why skin has a texture

My first painting was made with oil paint, I just used a spatula, for abstract it's amazing. Doesn;t dry in seconds, you have tons of time to fix whatever mistakes you could have caused.

Wait, actually thats pretty helpful, so the most chromatic/vibrant area is a good point to look when looking for the local color!?, nice

So this is sold as a tracing device, and it's a huge a struggle to use like that. I found this as I was trying to see why it isn't working for me. I'm deeply disappointed in the sales videos.

Thank you also for this beautiful video! I am reading in Henri's "Spirit of Art": "Think of values as giving form, not as spots of light and dark" (p. 255). I recognize in these two different methods of execution, on the one hand traditional painting with the applied scientific knowledge of volumes and light, supported by the knowledge of anatomy, and on the other hand the method of the impressionists with the juxtaposition of spots of the same tone in different colors to dismantle the light. The method presented in this video is that of the latter, I think. Since I am very interested in the history of painting methods, do you know of testimonies of this method in times prior to those of the impressionists? Thank you!

For me, the colors are correct except for blue and yellow as shown here. Complementary to the blue shown here results in bright orange when I have stared at the blue. And when I have stared at the yellow, the result is blue with a little purple.

Color picking tool? What are you talking about?

I mean in photoshop or similar programs, the little tool that allows you to point to a color and get it in your palette.

This is the best video on this topic I've seen so far. Agree with all of it. The only supply I've bought so far that I regret and have given away is a brush holder that keeps your brushes bristle end down, which is why I bought it. But it's too difficult and clumsy to get the brushes in and out while you're working. Who wants to take the time to fiddle like that in the midst of painting? Much easier to make your own brush rest, like you did, or something similar. Easy and quick to pick up the brush you want and put it down, with the bristles slightly angled down. There are a million easy, low cost or free ways to do it. I keep my bristles resting in a shallow dish of oil, with the handles slightly elevated.
@FlorentFargesarts8 күн бұрын
Haha, totally get it about the spring brush holder 😅. So annoying, right?
@Catbooks8 күн бұрын
@@FlorentFargesarts The one I got was plexiglass with 10 silicone holders. But the same thing as with the spring brush holders, too hard to get them in and out while you're working! Thanks again for your video!

Are all citrus based paint thinners bad? Many artists use Gamlin Solvent-free Gel. Some use Real Milk Paint, Orange Peel Oil.
@FlorentFargesarts8 күн бұрын
Not bad for cleaning if you want but still not as good as simply oil (to keep brushes wet overnight), or soap and water (for complete cleaning).

I love your laid back and thoughtful way of explaining techniques. Really appreciate your generous sharing of knowledge. 🙌🏻
