In the late 1990s, I went on a whitewater rafting trip in Utah. We came to a campground in the badlands that also looked like it was covered in a dome of smoke. When we got closer we discovered it wasn't smoke - or gnats - but mosquitoes! Thank god the trip organizers had planned ahead and brought the proper gear, but it was insane!

When you ride alongside the swamp, you get what the swamp has to offer. It's pretty self- explanatory. Like when you move next to the airport, you're gonna have jet noise.

You are lucky you didn't run into mosquitoes. This time of year they will take a pint - and they do shots of DEET before they bite you. Best to visit the Glades in the winter.

We had a van that was late coming back from the area near the everglades. three hours after the expected time, the van arrived, driver window open and the driver hanging out. The layer of bug splatter on the front windshield was so thick it buried the wipers. Took hours to scrape it enough to drive again.

This is why I stick to the coast when the wind is blowing. Fishing + fewer bugs. You can't get rid of them but you can mitigate :)

Duh LoL welcome to Florida. Deep woods off, or cutter will stop them from biting you but not if you've run into a cloud of them, even the kids know that. Everybody's body is different so you have to figure out whether it's off or cutter that works for you.
