I wore my cPap for 25 years and currently still wearing one… I had the inspire implant procedure on October 9th… currently in the recovery phase and waiting for activation… gonna be the best day of my life… I had pain for about a week… nothing pain meds couldn’t help… 10-11 years I will have to get the battery replaced in the implant but that’s it… 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 I’m on Medicare and have United Healthcare Advantage plan… surgery cost me $295… will be $350 next year with the same plan

It’s good to hear success with Inspire. It’s scary to me. My doctor mentioned it but I was too scared to listen. It’s also a good reminder to appeal the decision when insurance denies to appeal. It’s nice to hear there are others struggling with the medical professionals…you have to drive the bus. The community appreciates you Uncle Nico. Thank you for sharing your story Randy. Where do you sell your stuff from your storage wars items?Nice you donate to charity.

I’ve been on CPAP for 25 years and I wouldn’t trade it for inspire. Heck - I have to titrate a new CPAP every time I get one shipped to me. I’m on the ResMed Airsense 11 now and I had to adjust the air pressure & EPR to fine tune it to my body.

I can so relate to the lack of patient care from a pulmonologist. Here in the US, in my location it is impossible to see a MD. All appointments are with NP or PA. I have struggled with 3 sleep studies and am now on an ASV machine that it still not providing much relief because I can't keep it on for much more that 4 to 5 hours. I am changing from my current provider to a sleep specialist group (still have to have appointment with PA not MD). I have a horrible DME company so I depend on these videos from Uncle Nicky to keep me informed. THANK YOU for all you do!

The root cause of my sleep apnea is the collapse of the soft palate during sleep, as diagnosed through sleep endoscopy. Would Inspire help in my case, or is it only for apnea caused by tongue collapse?

I thought I recently read something about problems with Inspire and how in some cases they needed to be removed... I'm currently on ASV and have a very low AHI, under 5 but am still tired all the time...

20 yrs ago i took a sleep test coust me $5000.00. test was negative. my wife was waking me because i stopped breathing. so after about another year i took another sleep test and another $5000.00, another negative test. my wife told me something was wrong i stopped breathing wether on my side or back. so again i took another test and Finley got a positive test .i used it every night and was feeling good for the first year but now after 15 years of struggling with it, changing pressure I'm throwing it out.

There’s a lack of help from docs! They feel my sleep apnea is being caused by the high elevation Im in. I notice in a lower elevation my oxygen levels are normal and my heart rate is normal. They gave me a loaner machine that I’ve had for a year. Diagnosed with sleep apnea and central apnea using the Resmed ASV. She wants to retest me at a lower elevation.

It took me 7 to 8 months to accept my CPAP. I began with a nose-only mask, changed to nose and mouth, then to the kind that stuffs up the nostrils before going back to the nose-only mask. I kept tearing my mask off during the night; sometimes in my sleep, other times, I would wake up, pull it off and go back to sleep. Finally, I went back to my original, nose-only mask. I sleep with my mouth open, apparently. The chin strap given to me by my insurance company was largely worthless. I tried taping my mouth closed with KT tape, but it made me feel claustrophobic and nervous because I couldn't cough and if anything happened during the night, I was unable to scream. In addition, it hurt to remove the tape and made my skin very tender. I could only do it for a week and gave up. I purchased a better chin strap from Amazon. I think the things that helped me to finally accept my CPAP sentence were: 1. Wearing the chin strap tightly. 2. Adjusting the CPAP mask straps so that it fits tightly, and I don't have any leaks. 3. Watching Uncle Nicko's video about how to adjust the settings on my ResMed Airsense 11. I "assumed" it had been set with the correct settings by the respiratory tech at my doctor's office. I went into the unit and increased the humidity and reduced the air pressure. Those changes allowed me to sleep, only waking up one or two times a night rather than waking up every 90 minutes. I take about three or four deep breaths after turning off the lights and I am OUT. I wake up only to go to the bathroom. I disconnect the hose from my mask when I get up to go to the bathroom and keep the mask harness and chin strap in place. I carpool to work with a coworker who also uses the same CPAP mask and set up that I do, and Gabe confirmed that it took about 7 months or so to finally get used to his mask and unit. He now takes it with him when he goes camping with his family. I often fall asleep in my recliner on the weekends while reading or watching TV. I would love to be able to afford to have a second unit or a portable unit in the living room next to my chair. Even if I only sleep for 30-40 minutes, the quality of sleep is markedly different. I am so tired, and I know it's because the CPAP machine does work.

After watching all of Uncle Nicko’s reviews on masks and the good advice he offers I have finally after six months got comfortable wearing a nasal pillow minimal mask and chin strap. I too just connect the hose to go to the loo in the night. I still suffer with insomnia but that’s another issue I’m comfortable with the CPAP therapy now. However, without the advice here on this Chanel I would have given up. I was just even the machine and a mask originally by my healthcare provider and not much advice so Thanks Nick.

Have you tried a N30i or N30? I had felt suffocation using pillow nasal. I also had to increase min pressure from 5 to 6

WOMEN BEWARE OF INSPIRE: my friend has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The implant is in the way of the surgery! Surgeons are clueless what to do with it, delaying cancer surgery. 😢
@CPAPReviews2 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear about your friend. I would have thought it would be the same with a pacemaker though? Surely you just disconnect the inspire implant, take it out and then put it back in again after breast surgery. They need to remove it and replace it with a new one every 10 years as it is. Let me know how she goes. Cheers
@shelleydavis6372 ай бұрын
The delay is potentially deadly. Trying to get an Inspire surgeon lined up to remove the implant at the same time coordinating the mastectomy and potentially 3rd surgeon for reconstruction. No, you can't just put it back in. The anatomy of the woman's chest has changed. And then they discuss what to do with the electrodes that are running from your chest to your tongue? They can't even say if it must come out or not. Quite the problem to get multiple surgeons to work together. Surely Inspire has dealt with this and has a 'Best Practice' for this?
@CPAPReviews2 ай бұрын
But wouldn't this be the same with a pacemaker also?
