We need to ask them what do we get for supporting you.

Wow that’s racist AF
@hmmcinerney12 күн бұрын
You’re kidding right? I’m White Irish and I marched in my small town when George Floyd was murdered. Local supermarket workers went on strike to not sell South African food during apartheid. When we were starving here because of the man - British - made famine the American Choctaw Indians sent us almost $200 which was a fortune at the time. We also got money from an Indian prince in Rajastan. We were colonised for almost 800 years and lost 20% of our people through starvation. My point is that millions of us were repulsed by Americas ugly history and its horrendous behaviour towards Black Americans. Our fight is the same. Your self absorption and inhumanity is puzzling.
@laurarandall235512 күн бұрын
@ I feel the same way. Imagine fighting for someone only to discover they hate you. When a marginalized group can’t be heard, it’s the responsibility of the majority to speak for them. One side of my family is ethnically Jewish and the other side came from Germany before the Revolutionary War. So reading comments from people who are so ungrateful is so disheartening. Many of our ancestors fought to emancipate theirs in the bloodiest conflict the USA ever experienced, and I look on here to see people who have never been oppressed calling for the death of others. Wow. The fact any one of them can get on KZbin and complain in the first place is proof we no longer lived in an oppressed country. I don’t understand the rallying cry about freedom here. If this is a political issue, we need to recognize it was Democrat Andrew Johnson, Lincoln’s successor, who pushed African American rights back 100 years, gave protection to the KKK, and attempted to destroy everything Lincoln had implemented. The comments are so horrible on here. “If this doesn’t benefit black people then all Jews can die” is the consensus. Good to know that. It was Jews who went to Mississippi and registered African Americans to vote the summer of 1964. That wasn’t OUR problem but we cared. To all the people of color on here who think Israel and the Jews aren’t your problem because it’s not about you, thanks for showing me how much you really value human life. I’m teaching my babies to love your babies but I can see we aren’t the same.

@@laurarandall2355Don’t try and put us all into one group and we won’t try to lump you in with the Zionist. I am old enough to remember “ freedom riders” some on this thread are not. I also know how many fights black people have fought for others while we had nothing. Hurt and pain was once again thrown in our face with this last elections. Once again our very existence in this country is at state. We had a brief moment of lashing out, give some of a moment to exhale. The majority of us to not want the genocide😢 to go on in our names, we do not want our taxpayer dollars going towards murder innocent children and women. We have been protesting, boycotting and sending money. We are angry, hurt and disappoint. But, we will do the right thing, we do have moral conscience. We know what is right from wrong. Mr Coates is not exaggerating regarding the breath of housing segregation in Israel. Speaking from experience visiting Israel several times, cross - training with their military and being stationed overseas in the Middle East. Haifa had sections where certain migrant workers from Eastern Europe and African would have to live. We were warned of certain areas of the city, border off limits because of those people!! I thought about how my grandparents felt living in segregation, isolation and restricted access. That helped develop my empathy for what other black and brown communities are experiencing throughout the world
@ḵulagaaw12 күн бұрын
Come on now. You're speaking about issues that exist here. I didn't see this blatant racism that is spoken of in Israel. I seen a multiracial, multi ethnic, multicultural, multi religious society. I also traveled extensively throughout the Arab and Muslim world. In the Arab world it is homogeneous. The saving grace is throughout the Muslim world you can see the diversity. But the truth is the truth, it's essentially racial supremacy in the Arab world. Help is imported. Let's be honest. So all I'm saying is it's complicated. Especially when you're trying to convince people that the homogenous supremacist society is the good one and the multicultural society is the racist one. I guess since there is no multicultural situation in Gaza they don't have to deal with it. I guess. He is just framing what he saw with our experience. That's fine as a tool but it gives you half the story.

@9:30 THIS is the point I'm trying to get my family to feel about those (with family in Gaza & the West Bank) who just couldn't vote for either candidate.
I think that what is missing is the name for siding with the conquerors. When we feel for the people, who are we? When we go with the governing status quo, (the power side), who are we? What do we then teach our children? It feels like we are nobody, and we are less than nobody because we cannot teach our children how to be somebody.

I understand what Mr. Coates is saying but would push back on him saying it’s done in “my” name (as an American). America doesn’t see black ppl the same way many black Americans see America…as a part of….belonging to. I get it because what else do black people have to call themselves when their true identity was stripped centuries ago. America’s support of Israel is problematic but also emblematic of what the country is at its core. The recent election results are not shocking, they’re consistent with the history of this country. Republicans were asked twice about MAGA and what time period they wanted to return to and in both polls they voted for the 1950’s. White people are well aware of what the 1950’s looked like for communities of color yet had no problem desiring and then voting not once but twice for that agenda. Ppl say rac•ism is a stain on American history but I argue it’s a strain/strand deep within its DNA.

@hmmcinerney It's not ugly if it's truthful. If you're in America. You damn sure better wake up. Trump ain't playing.

I'll give up all of the things if everybody could be good. This statement is what everyone black person and anyone of high moral standard should be asking themselves. The things, what are you willing to sacrifice for righteousness?

If we read the comment section it seems that unless folks are receiving something in return, people like me don’t have a right to exist. That’s concerning and supremacy in a nutshell. These comments gave me a clear view of the average Kamala voter.

@laurarandall2355 the same thing could said about you. How dare you demand anything from a group of people? First off? The entitlement and the ignorance and reverse psychology, guilt tripping, gaslighting! Of it all. We are not toy soldiers! We are not obligated to help others when we've done that throughout history and that's we've gotten in the predicament we're in. As if we gotta fight for others humanity who don't see ours

Are you saying that Harris COULD NOT promise to not support apartheid and genocide? If so, why couldn't she? That's a very low bar to meet. She, in fact, was in a particularly powerful position. She was not just a candidate, she's the current Vice President, and all the horror, death, destruction, and ethnic cleansing that we've seen over the last 13 months took place with the full financial and diplomatic support of her and Biden's administration. Presumably, she had a voice and could have used it to persuade Biden; and before anyone jumps to, "She's just the VP": Dick Cheney was just the VP, too. Besides, she's a politician. Politicians can promise anything with no responsibility for delivering. As black people, we should understand that principal the most.

@ I’m not supporting it at all, obviously it is complicated and it’s always been complicated! The Israeli- Palestinian conflict has been going on dating back to the 19th century! If it was easy it would have solved by now! 🎤
