My mum gave birth in a Mother and Baby Home in 1935. I can't find any record of my sister's birth but she did come back to my mother when she was 12 because she wasn't adopted only fostered.My mother came to Scotland via some place in England where she made nuns habits and priests vestments and never ever went back to Ireland. I'm so shocked and sad to find it was still going on in the 70s. God Bless, and thank you for sharing your experiences. I won't call it a story because it's more than that it's the lives of people who were brought up to trust the likes of Doctors and Religious.

I hold the pleasure of knowing Margaret ( Maggie) she’s such a wonderful person, I was way in the background for many years following her story and , unfortunately being of very little help, but I hold her friendship dear. She’s similar age to my own children and I truly felt her pain and frustration for the many years. Thank God she has a wonderful husband Bob and two fabulous children by her side. ♥️

I wish Margaret the very best but I can't even try to understand her adopted Mother , My precious beautiful friend was handed over by somebody to wealthy business people in the West of Ireland, when she eventually found her Mother, she was rejected by her in case her husband would find out , her adopted parents used her a worker in the business and wouldn't tell her anything, my lovely friend is now in the Graveyard since December 2022 , Cancer caused by the stress took her life at 60.Some rotten women have had too much power in this Country.

Fantastic! Well worth watching and so representative of so many adoptees experiences, weather you came through official channels or illegal adoption the pain of the rd we have to take, to find 'our own' is unnecessary, cruel and punishing. Give us or records, the government need to open up and assist us, STOP blocking us... Everyone knows the complicity, just do the right human thing and stop hiding behind false propaganda, legal frameworks and repetitively silencing us and our narratives. Much Love Xx

This is terrible. It went on in Australia too. It's hard because vulnerable people such as infertile couples can be groomed and harmed, but in the end, they knew this was trafficking a child, that it was wrong. It's so easy to become self-centred in this heart-breaking problem in life, but illegally obtaining a baby harmed you, dear lady - all of the adults did the the wrong thing. It's so dad. Thankfully you were adored and loved and I so wish they hadn't done this but to be so abused by a doctor who played on their pain must have been terrible to live with too. May they rest in peace. I agree with you that justice would be granted - it's not happened anywhere. All the best to you.

I'm just learning of all these periods of my past. My heart is so heavy. Don't know if this is helpful and I'm NOT legally professional anything... But I wonder if a class action suit in American courts for emotional damages naming this Dr. One of the legal entities would at the very least gain awareness, get access to records... I've heard it takes as little as 3 complaints to file class action cases.... My just need three folks sent stateside during this period to get together to kick up some dust.

I have a brother in the world some place . My mom never lie said that me and my brother was only children . My mom told the truth about having a child out of web lock . I just wish I could find him , but I am not sure if he know he was adopted. He might be die by now because he be old .my mom was very young when she had him. We try to find him but the people said the court paper got burn up . I did the dna search , but no luck .

This was a very distructive happening to Margaret and her family and to many others. Still today many are still waiting like myself for all sectors to own up and clean up this mess they allowed to build up in backlogs for years and allow many get away with it or pass the book for others to deal with. I wish Margaret and her family the very best and thank her for coming forward to talk.

My grandmother never knew the truth, not even if the date on her birth cert was accurate. Since she died in 1988, I've concluded that the names given as her birth parents were false, that they did not die (as she was told) when she was too young to remember them. She was 'boarded' with good people, emigrated to Canada in 1921, made the best she could of her life, yet I still care who she really was, who my Irish cousins are. As with the undocumented graves of 'Indian' children here at residential 'schools' here in Canada, governments don't care enough about the truth to go against the Catholic Church's determination to not face up to the crimes of the past.
