It’s something that people do in real life, I get that it feels a little oversaturated from a movie standpoint though.
@jaereth43763 ай бұрын
It’s executed really well in the first film, and feels a little forced in the second. It grounds the dialogue in reality, BUT if not executed well, can be distracting. I think part of that execution is having one conversation (primary, main thing you want an audience to hear) slightly louder sound design wise than the other. Then the secondary convo becomes something fun to listen for in a rewatch. Or if you’re ADHD, like me, you can hear both. 😂

Most glaring flaws to me was the ship crew after it crashed at the city docks. When I was old enough to realize that the T-Rex couldn't have killed the ship's crew that transported it as it was still locked up in the main chamber, it makes no sense as to how the ship made it to it's destination, regardless of it crashing, when they all died before even leaving the coast of the island as whatever killed them wasn't on the ship anymore.

No male genes are not dominant. Parents give genes in a roughly 50/50 ratio and the strength of those genes is not based on the gender of the parent. There are dominant and recessive genes... But many traits are polygenic, meaning the resulting feature is determined by the combination of lots of different genes - like skin color. And how much genetic material is contributed, like the ratios of everything, and how that trait presents from that is super complex and nuanced. It's not as simple and 1:1 as what we were taught in basic HS bio class. Like mom doesn't give a single eye color gene and dad gives one and boop eye color, way more complex. So yeah, a black woman and a white man could have a child that is visually black. Hell, two dark skinned black people can have a light skinned child. Genetics are whacky. But each parent gives roughly equally in strength and volume of dna.

38:50 In the Jurassic Park universe, the females are typically larger and more aggressive than the males, but in the real world it’s hard to say because fossils can’t really tell us what gender a dinosaur is (although some pregnant specimens have been found), but it’s an accepted theory that both males and females are of equal size and aggression as adults. Again though, it’s all guesswork.
@TF2CrunchyFrog3 ай бұрын
In many modern-day reptiles, the females are larger than males of the same age (i.e. crocodiles, turtles). Also, there _are_ methods to tell female from male dinosaurs from the fossilised bones. Obviously it's harder than with mammals (where the shape of the pelvic bones differs between male and female), as dinosaurs laid eggs. But there is the medullary bone: _"In 2005, molecular biologist Mary Schweitzer and her colleagues reported on a well-preserved, small thigh bone of a Tyrannosaurus rex. The bone was discovered from the Hell Creek Formation (approx. 70 million years old) in North America._ _Examination of this bone revealed the presence of a special tissue inside the main cavity, known as the medullary bone. The medullary bone can be found in modern-day female birds. They use it as a reservoir for the calcium needed to produce hard eggshells._ _This bone is unique to female birds. Scientists thought that if this tissue was found in dinosaur bones, it would suggest that a female dinosaur died as it was preparing to lay its eggs._ _In 2016 Schweitzer and her colleagues re-examined the structure and chemical composition of the tissue within the original T. rex thigh bone. The team concluded that the tissue was definitely medullary bone as it contained more mineral content than the surrounding tissue. They therefore concluded that this T. rex really was pregnant when she died."_ Also, in dino species with feathers, fossils with preserved feathers have been found, sometimes even pigmentation patterns (not coloration though) could still be discerned on the fossilized imprints. A lot of well-preserved fossils of feathered bipedal dinosaurs have been found in the past 25 years in China (as paleontology in China only really started when China opened up to the West after decades of Maoism and isolation). Sexual dimorphism in regard to the feathers has been found, similar to sexual dimorphism in many modern bird species, where males often have additional plumage, i.e. longer tail feathers or a feather crest in addition to brighter colours, to impress the females.
@tyrannossenpai3 ай бұрын
@@TF2CrunchyFrog This is true, but unfortunately the fossil record is notoriously so bad, most dinosaurs aren’t even known from a whole skeleton or have only one or two specimens found. We can say a lot about T. rex because we are fortunate enough to have actually found dozens specimens, and some of them are almost entirely complete.
@scottb30342 ай бұрын
@@TF2CrunchyFrog sexual dimorphism has seen reduced credibility in dinosaurs regarding size, at least in T rex. Much of the hypothesized evidence has been debunked in some form and no longer a clear indicator of gender. Also, I don't know where you got your information but male Crocs are larger than female and by a substantial amount. Turtles have quite varied relationships too. As do reptiles in general with Anoles being male size dominant. The feathers information is good though.

@@scottb3034I guess it would depend on the species. We don't know what kind of parenting style t-rexes actually had. We can guess that they had large brains and were fairly intelligent therefore they may have had a more active role in nurturing their offspring. But it's likely females would be larger as they would likely be the nest protectors and be big enough to ward off other dinosaurs from attempting to eat their young. As we see with birds today many other bird species will attack and eat other birds eggs and young if left unprotected.

3:30 originally the JP1 kids showed up at the end when Hammond has passed away and they are the funeral along with Ian Malcolm & Kelly. Because the whole 3rd act was changed they also changed that ending so that's why they show up at the beginning randomly. The original third act was in the Village /compound with the raptors chasing both groups on the roofs and then at a certain point the raptors stop their hunt because of... Pteranodons... Kelly gets picked up and dropped in a nest but they save her in time. Steven Spielberg opted for a mainland sequence instead. 12:25 Happens in the first movie as well during the raptor feeding (I like it!). 39:40 In a deleted scene Ludlow steps on the baby t rex's leg and that's how it breaks. So this is great payback.

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT, being chased by the Velociraptors would be THE scariest thing ever. They were so smart and will just continue to hunt you down, and of course fast. T Rex would be terrifying of course, but he is BIG and you kinda know where he is 🤣. Unlike the Velociraptors who kinda stealthy takes you down
@alexsim-qq3zp3 ай бұрын
why are you basing your comments on jp ? dude a irl t-rex is stealthy. In fact he was an ambush predator.
@kyleenglot918411 сағат бұрын
@alexsim-qq3zpIf basing of JP rexes I get it. In real life the T-Rex could probably sneak up on you pretty effectively, coupled with their impressive eyesight and heightened smell they would detect your scent before you even knew you were the target miles back. If I were to give some props to JP's depiction you can relate the impact tremors to the fact that OG Rexy was usually hand fed/systematically fed in a very zoo-like unconventional way. I doubt the park allows herbivores to live in the rex pen so she doesn't get to practice hunting very often and thus isn't conditioned to walk around more stealthily as she would if she was able to roam free and hone in on her predation skills.

I'm sorry, but if a Tyrannosaurus rex (or any predator) stuck its head in my tent while I was asleep, I'd be pissing/shitting myself. I also feel so bad when Eddie gets Lady & The Tramped by the male and female Tyrannosaurs. Side notes: 1. There are 3 popular theories on what the dorsal plates of the Stegosaurus were used for: A.) Warding off any potential predators B.) Interspecies recognition C.) Regulation of body temperature 2.) Earlier paleontologists thought that the plates of the Stegosaurus were for defense, but now it's thought that the tail spikes served that purpose 3.) It was thought that the Stegosaurus' brain was more or less the size of a walnut, but now the theory is that their brain was roughly the size of a lime. 4. Like all other Hadrosaurs, scientists believe that the Parasaurolophus (the dinosaur that Roland called Elvis) could use their crests to make hooting noises to call each other.

T Rex or velociraptor? Okay, let's start with I'M DEAD, in both situations, no discussion. Now, I rather die with one strong bite, rather than getting cut by a claw, then heaving my arms slowly getting ripped out, and played with, and just then, be eaten alive by a smaler jaw, so I survive more to feel pain. Yeah, give me the t rex thx (this ofc talking abt Jurassic park version, the historical raptors are waaaay smaller and survivable)
@redmoonbloodmoon31613 ай бұрын
maybe the best way to go: getting stomped/stepped on by the t-rex, crushed to death in an instant (hopefully)... lol... makes you wonder what it's like to splat to death... falling and splatting on the ground (or water)... does it seem instantaneous... or is it not... crushed bone, punctured/crushed organs... etc... etc etc... I'd like to think you may have a chance (very minuscule) of surviving the t-rex, though if the t-rex sees you and it's just you, probably not, but I want to think that maybe there's a chance for you to somehow make it... but there's definitely no way that's happening with the raptors...

Studies that confirmed it based it on several different bones and skeletons, so it wasn't conclusive. As of 2020, there isn't any proper evidence to support it or any dimorphism between male and female in T-Rexes (or any dinosaur). Check out the article _Can we really tell male and female dinosaurs apart?_ from the ScienceDaily.
