Before watching this video, I want to give some backstory to help you see where I'm coming from and why I have decided to make this video after all this time.
Last year I uploaded two videos about how I believed that both BangChan, and the fans were at fault for the cancelation of 'Chan's Room'. However, after RIIZE's situation, (specifically regarding Anton and Eunseok) the whole Chan's Room situation came back into my mind and so I began to take a step back and think about both situations. I noticed that both are very similar in the sense that, BangChan's words were mishandled by fans, and both Anton's posts, and rumors surrounding Eunseok having an alleged ex girlfriend, have been blown way out of proportion by netizens. Not only that, but seeing idols who were done wrong by "fans", apologize for rumors that not they themselves, but rather netizens created, doesn't sit right with me.
No matter if you post something or say something online, your words and posts can be taken out of context and used against you in the worst ways imaginable. People can just twist things around, create narratives, and even label you as an IST or PHOBE just for posting or saying something.
Free speech is under attack in Kpop I see it, and here in the west as well and it's getting worse. Some people say the problem is free speech, but I believe the biggest problem is actually censorship.
As I have said in the past, I made my first vid about the Chan's Room situation before I knew about Everglow up's vid, so I decided to listen again to the vid. A lot of her points were good and understandable, however, there is one point that I don't agree with. In the video she talked how idols shouldn't have free speech, because of how toxic netizens are and how they idols could say something that might land their career in hot water. Whilst I understand her points on this, I think censorship is the real villain here. censorship doesn't protect idols, it protects netizens feelings, and is (in my opinion) a form of bowing down to what netizens want.
The industry in and of itself is a dome of censorship, which I strongly feel needs to change in order for free thought and expression to become the norm. If we keep this up, the greatest censorship will come in the form of AI, and personally, I don't know of many Kpop fans who would much prefer human Kpop groups to be replaced with AI groups with artificial and scripted speech.
I wrote too much and gave the whole plot away.....😬 sorry lol anyway, I hope everyone will understand my words, thoughts, and feelings on this topic and if you disagree, thats okay too. We're not always going to agree on everything, but as long as we try to understand one another points of view, I think we will all get along well, and the Kpop community will be better for it.

The topic of this particular discussion is a very important concerning issue of censorship both in the West and in Korea individuals have a absolute right to express themselves freely without fear being censored or even misinterpreted especially on social media

As censorship becomes more dominant, I think it’s very important to talk about this kind of problem. So I will do my best to continue this conversation in may be more in-depth discussions. Thank you for your comments always Mashka14! 🫶🩵

I was looking up lyrics to BTS's "Magic Shop" and I saw this. "As idols, every word they say is analyzed and criticized, that even just saying something true can be hated on and leave a metaphorical scar." It can also leave mental scars on idols.

I just wanted to add. Recently there are some "fans" who keep bringing up the Woojin situation and Chan's words. It was on Woojin's actual channel and video that was posted on April 1st. It has always been the misinterpretation of Chan's words and how his words get twisted. And it's the twisted narrative people used against Woojin. Even the news articles and media twist Chan's words. It's been going on since SKZ debuted. No matter what I say to help the situation, some people will still ignore the truth. The "fans" can't own up to their mistakes regarding Chan's words and Woojin. They still can't let it go and bring it up any chance they get. They keep going on and on with the same assumptions and still hate Woojin and disrespect him.

It’s just sad to see so much conflict over misinformation that was caused by “fans” over Woojin. I watched Woojin’s video last night, apologizing to Stray Kids for leaving during such a critical time for the group. He really cares about his former teammates, but unfortunately, people still hate on him for things he was falsely accused of instead of admitting that they got it wrong. To this day, he’s still hated on for literally doing nothing, but leaving the group. And while so I do understand that he does feel bad and regrets his way of handling that situation, leaving like he did. That has nothing to do with the accusations that people are still Hurlingham about that situation, so it’s really annoying to see people act that way. I remember a couple years ago when the whole Woojn smear campaign happened, there was a KZbin channel who made a video compiling a bunch of videos together to try to make Woojin look like a abuser to his members and a creep towards women, and I just sat there and shook my head at how disgusting some people are to take time out of their day to compiled all this “evidence” against him with such enthusiasm. This is why I will keep talking about these things, so that they can be brought to light.

@@moonlight_antonio Thank you for talking about it all and these things should be brought to light. I agree, that's exactly what I was thinking too, he was sorry for leaving at the time but he wasn't apologizing about any of the accusations. And he isn't trying to gain anything either. We can clearly see that he still cares about his former team and you know people will still say otherwise when we can clearly see it in the way he spoke. The hatred and dislike he still gets isn't justified at all. I remember the hate he got since debuting in the group and it was horrible. The amount of hate and dislike he got was so bad, at a very toxic level. Did you know there was a petition to get him kicked out of the group while he was still in the group? Yeah, and it was over his looks and stuff like that. Some "fans" wanted him completely gone from the group and they would constantly bully him online and in public at fan meetings. It wasn't just the SA accusations, him being accused of bullying his teammates, being accused of inappropriate behavior to women, or any of the new rumors but a lot of the older cyberbullying he received from "fans." He had to go on scary diets and he started to change his appearance as you can tell by now. This kind of bullying may have contributed to him possibly leaving the group. After he left, he was actually ready to give up singing altogether; to stop being an idol because he was probably very traumatized and tired. It's his fans and a lot of Stay that had to ask him to stay and keep singing because he loves to sing. Plus, he's great at it. People tried to dox him and harm him during the whole false rumor stuff. And he wasn't even aware of the SA thing until he came online one day. These people made him suffer over nothing. I was disgusted before since SKZ's debut but now I'm even more disgusted. There are fans of Woojin, who are tired of this behavior from other people. His fans feel helpless and wonder when it will end. I just try to help them as much as possible.

I actually thought "fans" would have changed by now but it's still the same. I was disgusted at the fact that Chan's words still get twisted and used to hurt others. I am disgusted that it's used against Woojin still, and every time Woojin tried to explain his side it still gets taken out of context. And he talked about it in that new video; how no one listens and he was frustrated about it.

@@moonlight_antonio Also, I agree that the compilations about Woojin are horrible. People wasting time making fake accusation videos on him. Imagine if they used their editing skills to do something productive but instead, they try to ruin his life situation constantly because they hate him. And have always hated him, they just needed a reason. So when there really isn't any reason, they make up rumors to validate their hatred for him. The depth of their hatred is something else and I witnessed it all. Let me tell you, it's too much.

Woojin has a Woojin problem. Every time he has something going on he tries to cash the Stray Kids card to increase his relevance by playing on their fame . He's an opportunist who fortunately has not been successful in using his former group to gain fame he's chasing.

Yes! I remember reading that international fans made such a huge deal about the whole bowing thing without even knowing much about the customs of just South Korea in general. I was very critical of BangChan in the beginning, but I’ve realized that it is mostly the fans just being nosy and extra about the whole thing. This video was a tough one to make, but I’m glad that I see the situation more clearly than before. A lot of people in the comment section of my previous video had expressed to me that BangChan was not at fault but mainly the fans, but I couldn’t understand how. But after this situation, I see it now. People really should gain more knowledge and understanding about a cultural practice before going ham online, totally agree. Of course, I still think that he shouldn’t have talked about half of the stuff that he was talking about with people he doesn’t know very well at least well enough to listen, understand, move onto the next topic, but other than that, what fans did with the information was outside of his control. I hope I didn’t repeat myself too much in this video lol

This definitely clears up the Bangchan issue. And why the chans room. Thank you for clearing it up. No worries. I really hope there are fans out there to love him instead of hating on him. No idols deserve the censorship. Idols need a little filiter to what they are talking about. It's okay, Moonlight, you dont need to apologize for that mistake. These accusations though is getting worse, I hate it when neitzens are looking for some juicy news.

I do want to clarify something that I did say in the video concerning the (Christ is King) stuff. (Christ is King) is in itself, not antisemitic however, people like Nick Fuentes are using it as a way to insult the Jewish people and he is well known for being antisemitic. So I just wanted to clarify that some people are using that phrase in a very negative away. I don’t agree with what Israel is doing to Palestine right now, but I don’t think that people should use (Christ is King) as a way to slam the Jewish people like Nick Fuentes, Sneako, and others. I don’t think that people should use (Christ is King) to spread hate against another ethnic group of people. I just think that’s wrong, so I just wanted to clarify that. Let’s do our best to love each other all right? ❤

As a chan bias last year I was not happy and may have blamed chan(but not too much since I am not that type of person) for it a bit but yeah I agree, it's not his fault because there are countless examples of chan speaking up about toxic stays and saying how stays have changed and most of the examples that people use as chan oversharing is him being as discrete as possible about something that brothers him(which many idols do they are humans and may want to rant to people that are outsiders to their problems). riize aside this a problem most leaders face where fan twist what they have said and then use that as excuse to be toxic and spread hate.

I remember getting censored for saying SKZ's full group name. I was censored from saying "St*** Kids" by KZbin on a post I made in the Community section of my other KZbin account/channel lol Now, I just say "SKZ" in the comments. Certain words can also get your comments deleted too. But I think some of that is the owner of the channels restricting things but mostly KZbin will delete your comments. I think recently, Hyunjin had to filter his words about his experience at a fashion show. It's the same thing happening again.

for me he should take in count his immature fan and know what saying and what not saying or if he want to be sincere the he should a tell his fan to stop being immature before going to the military there 2 live stream where RM saw probably silly comments about his private live RM askef them to stop and to talk about things interesting like his songs and things like that i get that he said that he don't want point anybody but stay aren't even enough mature to take his discleamer in count and step back. for me you can be relax and knowing that you talk to a public that some things should be noy told as i said in your live tream, Jungkook and RM did the same think as Banchan but the difference is they know how their fandom can be toxic then there things that they don't say and still relax with the fans

Chan has told fans to stop being rude and toxic many times. It doesn't matter what he says, it always gets taken out of context. Sadly, most fans in SKZ fandom have actually been toxic since the very beginning. Chan rambles a bit so it's just his nature to talk. (That's not a bad thing, Chan's rambling is adorable.) Army has mature fans that help BTS. RM and Jungkook have been at this for 10-plus years even before they debuted. BTS have been online since 2012 and they must have seen a lot that goes on. They know that there are still Army that will actually listen to them.

In my opinion chan did absolutely nothing wrong, he has a right to speak when he feels wronged by his junior's. Everyone (nonfans and antis) stalk Chan's room to hate on him since he is one of the few idols who speaks English to reach all fans worldwide so he is an easy target (they love to paint him as the evil idol) and when this whole station happened they found a way to give him all the hate they ever wanted by calling him the nastiest names just because the idol THEY THINK he is talking about is a woman even accusing him of disgusting sht During this time the other idol boyfans sent trucks to jype to bc telling him to end it even some "fans" sent trucks for him to leave the group, some fans on our side started to be nasty to the other idol too and it become really hot topic in kr and skz were having a cb in a week thats when chan decided to apologise when he did absolutely nothing wrong He deserves an apology from everyone for always trying to make him the bad guy

They wanted the leader of SKZ to leave when he formed the group in the first place. What in the world, it's actually insane. The group wouldn't exist without him. And people hate honesty, that's why they hate Chan. He's honest and open about things. He's also one of the nicest idols I've ever seen because I see the way his friends, mainly the women protect him, especially the members of Twice. What people say about him is disgusting. I never blamed Chan, it wasn't his fault.

I remember leaving comments on Everglow-up's channel on her Chan video; the video specifically about Chan. It was another video she had about Chan and the bowing thing. I mentioned the same thing about the stuff Chan was talking about. The "fans" were taking things out of context again like usual. At least the toxic ones were, the rest of us thought Bang Chan wasn't really at fault. It is definitely about censorship and how fans think they own the idols. Some fans love to take what Chan says and go off to hunt down people and make those people suffer. Chan has never asked them to do anything or liked when they do that. He's had to warn Stay many times to stop spreading negativity but some people just will not listen.
