The animal that we all think is a buffalo is actual a bison. Most people refer to them as buffalo, but the more correct name is American Bison. There are many other difference, but let's start the buffalo vs bison explanation by getting the names right.

Thusly it escapes most people. I think few of the kids who liked dinosaurs or animals necessarily carry it to adulthood or more young kids like cars and sports and what else than one thinks. I didn’t know it at age 7 or 10 but somewhere along the way I had it pointed out and retained it.

Also a cow isnt called a cow, they are cattle. A cow is a female cattle thats given birth. Heifer, female without calf. Steer, castrated male. Bull, non-castrated mature male. A cow is just any female bovid thats had a baby. Theres also over 1000 breeds of domestic cattle and over 140 species in the bovid family. The closest thing related to cattle, bison, and buffalo are caprines and antelopes. Also a longhorn is a breed of cattle, not a different animal.

American Bison originate in Northern America (i think). Easiest way too tell them apart from buffalos is that their horns are more curved in and not as sharp on the point. Buffalos have larger horns that are much sharper
