One of the BEST Lexus focused videos yet! Your first vid on the LC was a master class on how to properly showcase a vehicle. This vid is no different. Picked up my IS 500 a few weeks ago and I’m in-freaking-love with this car. THANK YOU for posting up something super special. Now I need to go drive somewhere… 😈😜👍🏽

GSF 2016 owner along with 911 manual, Lexus LS430 and Jag XJ6 1997, GSF steering, handling prowess, and incredible engine baritone sound change at 3.6k rpm are quite amazing. It can hang with my 911 all day but I still find it hard to accept a sedan can perform this well. Rear slide amazing and dialing it back is easy. All GSF include all performance options and weigh only 70 lbs more than RCF yet hundreds less than LC500 which has nice materials next to windows, larger shift paddles, and a bit more V8 growl at low rpm. Oh that engine and the Torque Vectoring Differential (TVM) … addicting. Given a choice I’d rather have separate vehicles (911 and a luxury sedan), yet if only one vehicle a GSF can do the job very, very well.

This was amazing, thank you for making this. Like you, I also own some gray Vans with black laces and a Lexus, though mine is a 2021 IS 350 F Sport that I picked up last year. For a while I didn't even know what I was buying when it comes to performance, but I think you hit the nail on the head when you talked about driving the IS 500 on autocross - it's just a confident car to drive quickly. I need to get behind the wheel of an LC 500 one day, since I hear so often that it's a one of a kind machine - and of course I have to hear it. I actually got to go to a Lexus Racing booth after Petit Le Mans 2021 with a local Lexus meetup group, and it was really special getting to talk to Townsend Bell and others from Lexus while looking at the then-new LX 600 and those IS 500/350 racing concept cars that were making the rounds at the time. I love those kinds of events - cost me nothing and was just a good-faith offer to the enthusiasts (shout-out to Mike Forsythe for the connect on that). Nice choice on the Atomic Silver over red interior by the way, kinda similar to my Iridium silver over red on the IS. Lexus really knows how to do a good silver. The LC is a gorgeous car - if I am already finding excuses to go be around my IS just to enjoy the looks, I'd be in real trouble if I had an LC.

Well, I'm glad you had fun. I went to the one in Feb at Laguna Seca and it was too cold for me to enjoy it. Yah, in the autocross it was fun to do it over and over and see yourself get better. Yah, it was fun to drive the RCF doing donuts--harder than it looks. Easy to get the rear end to slip away, not so easy to keep control. Yah, fun to stomp on someone else' brakes until the antilock brakes thump your feet. But, you spend about 15 minutes total time behind the wheel...the rest of the 8 hours you are listening to yak yak yak in a cold unheated garage.

BTW (Keyser Soze) nails it. Again. I was lucky to attend two of the first driving schools. One at Indy. 156 mph down the front straight in a ride-along with Scott Pruett in the LC 500. You had to look at the speedometer to believe it. Felt like 70 on the interstate. Comments by Jr. Science below are exactly right. I think the GSF is an all around better driver, but the LC 500 is my rolling fortress of solitude.

I attended this event in Aug. 2021 at Laguna Seca Raceway. In the autocross I had drive like a maniac to get the best time in my group at 35 seconds but we only had the 2021 IS 350 F Sport. Had a ride along with Scott Pruett in the same car and he did 32 seconds with 4 people in the car. He was so much smoother than a rookie like me. It was like a leisurely Sunday drive. Also got to drive 9 or 10 laps (without another person in the car but behind a lead driver) around the epic Laguna Seca track in an LC 500. The track has a 180 foot (55 m) elevation change through the corkscrew. That was wild to drive. Had another ride along with the driving instructor on the main track in a GS F at very high speeds. I currently own a GS 350 AWD and will definitely be buying an LC 500 as soon as possible.

its funny, i own an extremely heavily modified car that can put almost anything produced by a manufacturer to shame, as well as a super fun second generation mr2 to rip around in for giggles. So when i bought my lexus RC, i thought from all the reviews that i was just adding an overweight but comfortable car that "looked" sporty to my garage, but god damn if i haven't been utterly impressed with the thing when i drive it up mountains and have a little fun in it. It has even me, someone who, admittedly is not a wealthy person and who would much rather spend my hard earned money and time on making a car fast rather than buying a fast car looking at buying an lc500. great review man

I enjoyed this entire video. I like your sense of humor. I've been a Lexus fan my whole life but in 2018 I went to a Lexus Driving Event in Anaheim (it was free) and I got to test the GS F, RC F, and LC500 on an autocross track in the Angels parking lot. The experience took my enthusiasm to another level. I fell in love with the GS F (it was more balanced than both the RC F and LC500 at the time) and I swore I'd buy a GS F or a new IS F someday. When the IS500 was announced, I had to have it. I bought it 2 months ago and I love it. Now, are my important questions: Was the sweater free? Did you get any free swag? What did they serve for lunch??? Thanks again.
@YachtsOnTheReg72 жыл бұрын
They just served fairly nice sandwiches, chips, cookies and beverages for lunch but honestly I was itching to get back on the track and you only get about 30-40 mins for lunch. Everything was very professional. I got a Lexus LPDS shirt and a Michelin hat and a few other things. The event only cost $995 so well worth the money.
@jr.sciencebros.84112 жыл бұрын
@@YachtsOnTheReg7 Thanks! The shirt, hat, and all were free? "Free"...

@@jr.sciencebros.8411 That much track time alone at a super technical famous track like Laguna Seca in a car like the LC is probably worth at least $2,500 to $3K. Not even including all the instruction on performance driving that they give you. They are definitely losing money on every person that attends. $995 is well below what the time/experience is worth.

Interesting review, did the performance driving class at Laguna Mach of 2021, good time fun track, but the traffic jams were a big let down and not getting the thrill of connecting all the turns at speed through the corkscrew and on to the front straight. Road Atlanta must have been a blast, definitely looks like they were conservative on the bakes coming into 10. One of the funnest parts of the track tossing it around though 10a and b then accelerating under the bridge and down the hill into 11.

Lexus is better because they actually engineer something BMW has no clue how to do -- reliability. If you can't develop and engineer a product that lasts, it's flawed! Would you buy a refrigerator known to have issues in 5 years? Nobody would so then why buy a car from a company known for engineered obsolescence? I don't know why anyone buys German vehicles. It truly baffles me.

Cheap plastic technology has completely ruined BMW. I used to have a 92 525i with a 5-speed manual. I beat that car for nearly three hundred and thirty thousand miles before I had to get rid of it. You'll never get that kind of mileage out of a new one. Or the 15 years that I actually owned it. I didn't get it until it was 3 years old. Can you imagine driving a new BMW for 18 years I can't! You'd be in the poorhouse

Im sorry guys but I'm waiting for lexus to bring back the wood veneer and elegant wooden steering wheel. I hate a leather steering wheel for it looks cheap and it stains easy. Plastic everywhere with high-tech screens will eventually be outdated. I think you can never go wrong with raw elements like metals and woods that never goes out of style. If this LC500 had the elegant woods from the classic sc430 and a hard top too... It would be a hit with me. Its really dangerous to add too much tech to people who just want to drive a car without worring if the race model mechanical changes... too much stuff to eventually stop working. Give me the body and a beautiful wood interior, with analog speedometer and im good.

All GSF have torque vector diff plus dedicated n separate oil and transmission cooling systems. Options or not available on the others for misc legit reasons, and most of us will NOT take these to a track for multiple 30 minute sessions, but GSF can do it without modification, just as my 911 can

Lexus kills you on the replacement brakes just for the parts for a rotor and the pads is approximately about $1,500.$200 for each brake pad and about five to seven thousand dollars for the rotors. That one hurts.
