It’s really a special car. I remember driving it a my Audi Dealership and thought that Lexus makes a car that Aston Martin, Maserati, and Bentley wishes they could make. The LC500 and the Mercedes Benz S class Coupe are my favorite coupes ever. I’d buy the Lexus, because it will last forever.

This guy likes the car and having owned my 2018 for almost four years, so do I. The couple of gripes he has boggled my mind. The steering column cover? I would have never thought that in a million years. The transmission for him wasn't to his liking. For me, it's sensational and has been the entire time I've been driving the car. This car is not expensive at all. In fact, it's way under-priced. It should sell in the $300k range, especially when you consider it's so much nicer than an Aston-Martin and will never leave you stranded by the side of the road waiting for a tow truck. The LC 500 is as close to a perfect car as there has ever been. It excels in every category that a mature human being would be concerned with. No, it isn't a race car but it is very fast. If you want something that will do 0-60 in 1.8 seconds, don't buy this car. You're an idiot and you should buy what other idiots buy. Idiots don't buy a Lexus. Go get that Ferrari or Lambo or some other hunk of junk that will cost $50,000 in repairs in the first 30,000 miles. Have fun with that! In the meantime, if you doubt me...then go check out an LC 500 for yourself. Once you do that, you will understand.

Based on its sales figures of europe n US, n the fact that its only made in japan, toyota/lexus is really keeping this one close to the chest. Smthing like 2000 units a year. Total production a year for the global market is probably close to 3000 a year but i have no confirmation on this. Its in its 7th year of production this year, n those production rate isnt about to change any time soon.

I've got a 2018 and still love the car. After four years, it's as nice now as it was back then. As for the transmission, mine works perfectly. It's a gem. What I do know is "reviewers" for the most part are too lazy to read the Owner's Manual and become familiar with the software. The LC 500 is programmable and has several driving modes including "CUSTOM". You can also set the "rev limiter" to your own preference. The paddle shifters work fantastic. Drive mode works best for me because I don't like to pretend I'm a hot shot race car driver but on those rare occasions when Manual is more fun, the paddle shifters work as they should. No offense, but you should read and learn the software. These are the finest cars on the market today without exception.

The intake valve control is used to turn the engine into a Atkinson cycle (used in Hybrids for fuel economy - does reduce power output. It is LIVC - 'late intake valve closing' which allow the car to get over 30 mph at highway speeds even if the EPA highway rating is only 26 mpg) At highway speed the car doesn't need a lot of power to maintain highway speeds but if you do want power the iCVT system instantly revert to normal performace timing,

12:11 The interior is the next reason I bought the car the other was the 2UR Gse. I call the interior bespoke and cozy. It fits me like a glove, or a fine tailored suit. The bolstering of the seat makes getting in and out a bit of a speed bump but once your in. Your IN.

14:01 I know a lot of ppl give this car shit cause of the infotainment system. Im a techy guy, I actually love it. Sure it was not immediately intuitive but after having it for a day you pick it up and I can navigate the system while driving w/ ease. No finger prints messing up your look. Im bias but don't let that detract you. If your a human your clever, you'll figure it out.

15:56 The seats are perfect if your around 6 180lbs If your bigger you will have issues I promise you. The seat bolsters are hard but soft you'll know what I mean if you get in and out of the car. But if your big they will pinch you and they don't adjust. Sorry big guys this is not the car for you. It prints big on the outside but the inside is pretty tight and if your not on the thinner side its game over.

20:27 Perhaps its because i ride motorcycles and I'm very connected to mechanical things. The transmission is a torque converter, and you can feel it, its hard to explain but you need to let it do its thing. Driving slow you have to feel it in the peddle and allow the mechanical nature do its thing. That sounds etherial but the same applies for dual clutch but in a diff way. They operate uniquely and you need to adapt to them. Not the other way around. You are the human they are the machine and they don't adapt. Thats your job.

@Kevin Glover I've been an investor for years and if you can still put fossil fuels in a vehicle than yes.... reference? look at cars 30 years ago and make a decision... but the decision is how cost affective is it to store a vehicle?? every situation is different!! are you in Wyoming or New York City??? I've lived in both... lol The best investments are ones you can enjoy and not create a liability.... on a side note.... I've drove over 100 thousand miles in the last 3 years and I've never seen a Lexus LS500 on the road...... but I have seen McClarens and High end Porsches and Ferrraris and Lamborghinis even a Urus... ;-) (I'm out in the western US) So it boils down to personal taste... so I you have an affinity for old corvettes?? then that might be a better investment?? Invest in your passion... and generally others will share it and it will have value in the future.... until we throw our silver in the streets... Ezekial 7:9....

For those in the know, this is the best car on the road. The engineering is amazing. People say Corvettes are faster but Corvettes are a different animal. The LC is a grand tourer & it’s very rare. There were almost 58,000 c8 corvettes produced in 2023. They are a dime a dozen. Only about 1,300 LC’s were made. Much more exclusive. I prefer to be different & not follow the crowd. 11:20 Hey AMD! Carbon fiber reinforced plastic is a generic term for all carbon fiber composites. Carbon fiber composites are made of two components, the carbon fiber and the resin (plastic) matrix. The carbon fiber they used here is more specifically known as discontinuous carbon fiber reinforced plastic because it uses discontinuous (chopped) tows of carbon fiber instead of continuous tows like you see with "twill" weave. Starting with a '70 GT6 early on in my younger years and then much later a '72 Pantera, '70 Corvette LT1, '03 BMW M3, '04 Viper, '05 Viper (still have and still the most ferocious). All of them wonderful cars in their own right but my '21 LC 500 Inspiration Series Blue convertible is my favorite. Everything about it, and I mean everything, is absolutely impeccable.

19:30 That is not completely accurate. I'm a long term owner (over 4 years). When in manual mode, it only auto upshifts from 1st to second, then you can bounce off the rev limiter all you want :) The low speed clunkiness is part of the car's learning curve. Over the first year of use, it learned how I like to drive and shift and the clunk has drastically reduced ;) I've also done multiple over 8 hours of continuous driving and have not had any issues with the seats. The comfort depends on your body type I guess :) Great review from you as always!

I do not like the door handles for one reason, on cars that live in the Great White North, they are impossible to open when frozen. PS. IM looking at buying in the next 12 months either 2017 to 2018 LC500 $175,000 AUD approx or RCF 2019 to 2020 $125,000 AUD The LC500 will still cost me at least $50,000 AUD more which will be pushing it. $insurance is about $1200 more a year for the LC as well and I would imagine servicing will also be dearer. Usually there will only be 2 in the car but occasionally I may need to carry 1 or 2 people in it for short distances. Car will only be used on some weekends. I am retired and my wife has a 2020 V6 camry and I also have a 1994 Hilux 2wd Dual cab which is my daily. Had in the past , wrx's, BMW 135, Supercharged Camaro ZL1 (Fun but not practable) and currently have a Grand Jeep Trackhawk which is extremely fast in straight line but not really fun to drive especially through bendy bits and its a huge vehicle. I'll be keeping the Jeep until the warranty has almost expired probably another year or so. I've done the straight line speed thing (Jeep is good for 0 to 60MPH in sub 3.5 secs - fun in the start but how fast can you go nowadays with cameras on every corner. So what I would like your opinion on is - I know want to buy a car that I can keep for a long time (10 + yrs) and over that time have reliability and at minimum have slow depreciation or even better have a chance to appreciate and be fun to drive so I came up with a LC500 or RCF. With insurance costs plus initial extra cost of LC500 and servicing costs what would you suggest, Also I think waiting longer than 12 mths prices of these cars may not drop significantly as the V8 s are disappearing. Sorry for long message One other thing if I bought the LC500 the only mod would be to get the vehicle covered in PPF , if I bought the RCF it would have PPF plus Cat Back exhaust as original exhaust too quiet for me. Which one would you pick as a long term buy. Im not a mechanic but can do my own oil changes etc.
