I think one reason Nobara was written out the story was because she could solo Sukuna. Like she can just keep hitting Sukuna's finger over and over until he dies and there's nothing he can do to stop it. That's unless Nobara's technique has a limit on the amount of times she can hit a singular piece of a target

She slapped on an eye patch, picked up her hammer, and ran straight to the battlefield to help save her remaining friends and the world. No hesitation, no freaking out about the Carl Grimes hole in her head, no succumbing to Despair to make everything 1000x worse (take notes, Megumi, you Bum!) NAH. She got Active and clutched up all within 30 minutes of waking up! 🐐🐐🐐🐐! As a writer myself, I agree that the way Gege wrote her Return is the definition of Deux Ex Machina but sometimes, doing the Deux can be a good thing. OR maybe I'm just biased because I love Nobara and I'm so happy that Yuji hasn't lost someone else he loves. And I'm ecstatic that Yuji got to use his Domain Expansion and a massive Black Flash against his biggest Opp! Sukuna thought he was Him. He was NOT Him. Sukuna thought shit was sweet. It was NOT sweet! And by the way Mahito is a Fraud. I'm glad Getotaku swallowed his punk ass whole!

I disagree with it being a deus ex machina. It was a planned move in universe, and Nobara's "death" was purposefully left vague narratively so it wasn't a shocker she was alive. Deus ex machinas are narrative twists that come out of nowhere and perfectly wrap up a problem in a contrived and unrealistic manner. While Nobara's revival was unexpected due to it being so late in the manga, it was properly set up. Furthermore, resonance isn't some heavenly interference, it's a well established ability that we already know would work well against Sukuna. It didn't even take care of the problem by itself, it only served to interfere with him long enough for Yuuji to finish the job. Honestly every Sukuna cycle twist was actually set up properly and only appears contrived because the reader wasn't clued in on the plans beforehand. Excellent Shonen writing.

I love that Nobara returned and don't think it's a Deus ex Machina since it was properly set up. However, the fact that she woke up at the perfect moment to help yuji rubs me the wrong way. If Nobara had recovered earlier and the planned to keep her hidden until the last moment, it would have been perfect.

It could be that yuta knew of the status of Nobara being a 50/50, and it was a possibility she would live. After all, it was said that she woke up just 30 minutes ago. Secondly yuta ability is limited very heavily if he doesn't have the knowledge on the technique he copies. He can't use it's fullest potential as the original user if he has no foundation to build upon. That's why his cleaves and over all abilites in gojos body sucked and most likely why he can't maintain Kenjaku's CT. That in mind even if he did copy Nobara's CT it could have been so inefficient to the point it would have been borderline worthless. And lastly I feel using the body of someone who is already dead is a bit different than consuming bits of someone on the brink of death with the potential to live.

If Gojo will come back (which he most likely will come back) then I think Yuuji will be the one to die out of the 4. I’ve seen a few theories but the main one that sticks out to me is the fact that there is only ONE of Megumi’s shikigamis that we haven’t seen, it being “Tiger Funeral”. The fact that Yuuji was described as the “Tiger” back in middle school was very weird back then but if this theory were true then that would mean that Megumi would kill him off forever ending whatever Sukuna started. This would also tie in with what Yuuji’s grandpa told him at the very start of the story “You should die surrounded by people who care about you”. Megumi and his chance of dying are pretty low since his whole arc right now is gaining the will to live again so it wouldn’t make sense to kill him off. Great recap video about Nobara btw!

I agree that it wasn't narratively satisfying, I still think it was the best way forward among a couple of bad options. It's not that her reappearing is good writing, it's that her not reappearing would have been worse. Good writing would have been for her ambiguous death to have been used properly after Shibuya either as yet another punch (we gave you hope but she died anyway which destroys Yuji even more and also serve the purpose of letting the reader taking the time to mourn her since that's hard to do in a combat situation) or as a triumphant return but without compromising the character by removing her for over half the total story and making her feel like a plot device by just bringing her back as a "tool" at the end. Since Gege had already eliminated all possible "good" options, there was literally nothing he could do but choose the "least bad" one among the three: No confirmation (zero impact and unsatisfactory), confirmation of her death (almost zero emotional impact by that point because it's been too long), and her return and helping in the fight (not great but infinitely superior to the other two options).

Nah because I def understand what ur trying to say. It would feel more satisfying if we at least got more foreshadowing that Nobara was alive. And it does kind of undermine that whole Yuuji’s domain slice of life chapter w/ Sukuna. Yuuji was showing Sukuna around to show Megumi the value of living & to show us Yuuji threatening Sukuna’s life. It just has that chapter making no sense, what’s the point in having Yuuji show Megumi the meaning of life if we aren’t going to at least get one last battle of Megumi fighting back & what’s the point of having Yuuji threaten Sukuna like that as if Yuuji had one more technique of sorts up his sleeve to actually end Sukuna’s life if Gete was just gonna bring Nobara back to end it. I feel it would’ve been better to have Megumi fight back, Yuuji dish out that last punch, & Nobara use Resonance so it feels more like a team effort than a cop out. If it was gonna end like this, we should have gotten something on her condition, instead of just straight silence. And I’m not hating at all because I am a Nobara fan and I wanted her to come back, but it feels less like a shocking plot twist w/ some foreshadowing and more like smth Gege just wrote out his ass. This chapter felt like those reddit posts were they draw Gojo coming back and hitting Sukuna with "Friendship technique: Lime Green" and then saying "this truly was our Jujutsu Kaisen Yuji". Like, there was actually more evidence of Gojo's ability to come back than there was of Nobara doing so. This chapter also tells us that if Gojo had gone to get a burger and talked to everyone for a while before fighting Sukuna, Nobara would have woken up and killed Sukuna by spamming resonance while he cant do anything about it and noone would have died. Also, day 14 of waiting for a Game Of Thrones video (Im just keeping track of how many days it took at this point, so no pressure intended Gojo Satoru).
