I agree and I think coaching is a big part of setting up an identity as a team. Notice how the teams with tenured coaches has an identity like the Heat and Nuggets. Mike Malone isn't a goodie goodie, licking his players nuts... Mike Malone doesn't try to keep his job by pampering his players... nope... he's regularly shitting on them when they make mistakes, holds them accountable and praises them WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT... not every time they do anything remotely positive... That's the reason by the Heat and Nuggets have an identity and play great basketball when it counts... and I'm not blaming the other coaches... the fact is that for all the other coaches, if they chew up their players during a timeout they will lose their job mid game cause the pampered divas will be whining... so to be fair, why lose your job just to "do the right thing"... f*ck off... if these pampered toddlers don't wanna win, then let them be losers and I'm gonna get my paycheck... period...

Arguably the best offensive player in NBA history, redemption Murray, revived Russ, a Braun who seems to get better and better, Gordon and MPJ. From what i have seen in the west NO TEAM is beating OKC in a 7 game series. However if the Nuggets make one trade that can significantly improve the bench, this is the only team i can see having a chance against them. Denver winning a ring with Jokic, who would officially cement himself as a Top 10 player in NBA history and a starting Russ who everyone labeled as "washed" would be one of the most beautiful storys in NBA history.

The difference is Westbrook tried to sacrifice, while Lebron didn’t. As the better shooter, it makes better basketball sense for Lebron to let the poor shooter in Westbrook do the creating. Russ' bad rap started when he got in LA with the Fakers, and everyone piled on, because y'all fake goat was playing like ass. He had good games with the Clippers, but that was overlooked, and he was pushed out. Jokic knew he still had some steam left, because overseas those guys play past 30 because they play real, rules oriented baskeball, not in the NBA and it's easy to exploit the NBA rules with all of the cheating and gambling. Russ’ impact can’t be found in the statistics (in Denver). It’s found in the change in pace that Denver is achieving. FIRST in the NBA in fast break points. He CREATES points by Joker because of his passing ability in pick and roll. It’s IS a great fit, sure. But, it’s a great fit because the Nugs let Russ be Russ for the most part. On Russ’ part, he is cutting more because he knows he’ll get the ball back, if it’s the right play.
@torpedospurs3 күн бұрын
The tactical changes to his game are small (cutting more, passing to the Big in the interior) but super significant and are likely to persist. Still skeptical about his 3pt and his decision making when Jokic isn't out there. I think Malone has the same skepticism and is now trying to maximize his minutes playing with Jokic on the floor.

Before the season, my only expectations from russ was a cool 10/5/5 on 42/30/70 splits, bring energy, play some defense, and most importantly, be better than that evil, evil man, raggie jackson. To say he has exceeded expectations would be an understatement. When both him and Jokic play and russ starts, we play at a 68 win pace. I never considered the nuggets to have good passers, but until russ, I hadn't truly realized that the best passer Jokic has played with in his entire career is Facu Campazzo. Russ has unlocked Jokic's elite off ball game in a way we've never gotten to see before in extended stretches. Also, as far as the defense, it's an eerily similar arc to 2023, where we have new guys starting and our effort and communication are TERRIBLE to start the season, but come new years, we start locking up. Since January 1st, we're the 5th best defense in the league (while being oddly terrible in the first quarters) at 111.0, while missing AG a few games Jokic as well

Would love to see an OKC/Shai deep dive video. I feel they have more than deserved it. Tied for best record in the league (would be the best by far in vast majority of NBA seasons), on pace for best defense of all time. Shai is having one of the best guard seasons of all time, right there with the best of MJ and Kobe’s seasons. And OKC currently has a +12.8 net rating. One of the best of all time. Considering how historic of a season they are having (all with Chet on the bench for most of the year) I feel like this channel has barely covered them, which as an OKC fan is frustrating because they already struggle with getting national attention.

Ben Simmons on the other hand had issues with roles and motivation especially during his later stints with the Sixers, not to mention his problematic injury history. The reason why I believe Westbrook will work in the playoffs is because unless the team has 2 big (one for Westbrook & one for Jokic) when they run their 2 man game one of them is getting a good shot. Teams can’t put their big on them and roam as easily because Jokic is on the floor and demands a double team. With 3 shooters on the court to complement that and Russ’ ability to get to the basket and make plays effectively then it’s really hard to guard. The most recent Mavs vs Nuggets game they tried that with Lively/Gafford on Russ sometimes and it wasn’t as effective as other times. My main concern is the turnovers that can spiral out of control.

Russ was supposed to save the Lakers as a $40m super-star and that was a disaster. He didn't fit with an ageing Lebron. Not a surprise! With the Clippers they immediately signed James Hardin and Russ just didn't fit. In Denver he simply fits with Jokic. It's huge. Russ doesn't have to take tons of 3's. As for Aaron Gordon he's been injured this season, but he's shooting 40.7% from 3 this year! He worked all summer on his 3pt shooting and it shows, he's been a lot more confident shooting them. If he does that in the playoffs nobody is going to be able to drop off him and let him shoot, although they will try and do that with Russ. It doesn't help defenses though that Jokic is about leading the league in 3pt % at 47%.

Thank you for finally giving Westbrook credit but stop with the back handed compliments your giving Russ. If you’re going to do that then don’t mention Russ at all.

We do this with Russ every other year. Not gonna admit to anything unless he actually contributes to winning basketball in the post season

It's always amusing to watch someone talk about a person they clearly don't like. "Oh, he's so happy for him?" Sure, buddy. 😂🤣

The fact that you talked about the Lebron x Jokic situation and didnt mention that Lakers Russ ate up 50 million dollars and didnt accept a lesser role because of that. How much is Russ getting paid now? After being humbled in both LA teams? The situation changed a LOT from 50 million dollars Russ to now.

I think Russ coulda been a solid fit on the Lakers if they woulda kept Caruso and moved THT. It woulda worked if they got all the other guys right. But they instead got a bunch of old guys the coaching was also terrible. AD and Bron were also hurt a lot especially AD.

No one ever talks about how Lakers kept THT over Caruso. Finally you speak on it!

Lakers suck, toxic environment. They always looking for someone to blame. They have been unrespectable since Kobe left.

I never got the criticism he got during that lakers run. They traded for him and used him like they just got klay thompson. That's like trading for rudy gobert and having him play the jokic role. What do expect him to do?

When he wins a ring this year while being the starting point guard all playoffs then you’ll see. Watch the nuggets carefully. We shoot the least amount of threes in the league yet have one of the best offenses ever with jokic and russ on the court. Russ always elevates his teammates. Most of the star players he has played with have their highest ppg seasons. PG, Beal, Jokic, harden, oladipo had his breakout season after being traded to the pacers and he credited russ for helping him become the new player he was. Y’all will all see.

Wasn’t Russ really good at corner 3s even on the lakers? I think it was specifically the left corner
