i bought the canon 90d in 2023 and went to Africa in December 2023. Came back and got the r6 ii right away. Afre the r5 ii came out i got myself an r5. Looking forward to using these two for some great images. Watch your videos a lot.

I bought the R6 when they first came out and loved it. I then bought an r5 18 months later and was blown away with what it could do. I will be keeping both cameras for at least the next ten years, i had a 7dmk2 for eight years before moving to mirrorless, or until they fail and i have to buy a new camera body. I have been a canon user since buying an AE-1 many, many years ago.

I didn't move to mirrorless right away when Canon came out with the R. One thing that my camera has to have is 2 card slots. I know card failure is rare, but it happened to me, so 2 cards it is. I finally moved to the R5 about a year or so after it was introduced saying goodbye to my 5DIV. Well, the first time I had it out, using my EF based Sigma 150-600 C lens, I found that the eye detect picked up the eye of a chicadee...black head, black eye. That convinced me that I made the correct choice moving to the R5. Terrific camera that got even better with the firmware updates. Nice images, by the way!

great pics, love especially the osprey ones and the pileated! just got a refurb R5 but the prime is in the distance. So apparently no issues with compatibility between the RF body and the EF lens?

Technique, = So true! Me being in suburbia with limited area- access allowed for the photo the direction taken, being in the area you are would help tremendously. I still think the Canon R5 with the 100-500 is the best bang for the buck and right now on sale for $3300 US. Correct about the 600 f4 lens no matter what brand you shoot. Wish I had one. Another biggy would be the 400 gf2.8! Some very nice photos.

The r5m2 will/should have a much better AF system than the R5. It will be very much like that in the r3 and the r6m2. Also, it should have much less rolling shutter distortion, which is a big deal. I will order it immediately once it is available for pre-order.

Very interesting stuff, and some great images. I've been happy in DSLR land for a long time: 300D which I've had for 20 years, 20D, 7D Mk II, and 1DX Mk III. Although I haven't really considered moving to mirrorless, and I doubt I'd get rid of my DSLRs anyway, I've heard from several sources that the R5 would be a natural step from the 1DX. Since nearly all of my glass is Canon, with the only exceptions being one Sigma and one Tokina, it would be a reasonably inexpensive thing to get an EF-RF adapter, so there's definitely food for thought. (And Christmas is coming...)

Yes sir - My EF glass works fine on the R5 with the adapter - I just started buying some RF glass like the RF 24-105 F4 - nice lens and doesn't break the bank - thanks for watching
