I thought the reflection of his head in the lid of the grand piano was clever. I thought ducking under the handshake of the two businessmen was really clever. I thought the passage between "Makes a move against the cartel", including smoke grenades, to "the doctor sighs and says I don't think you'll be walking again", & the timing of the arrival of the wheelchair and the sound of the bottle rolling on the floor - this whole part was fucking genius ! By far my favourite part.

If the song didn't make it clear enough, after the release he went streamed on Twitch to talk about it with his fans. Ren is always open to communication with people, you just have to listen. If that doesn't help then string all 3 songs in order and include the live stream of the end of the Money Game Scavenger Hunt. I can't see how much clearer he could've made it, homie or not. He wants us to be asking these big questions, this is a topic that's very important to him.

I didn't register that the computer was vintage but Ren is so detailed he probably did it because Jimmy dies at 45 in 2023 so that computer was new when Jimmy was 14-16. He does it in Hi Ren as well, not just the King Dotta reaction. I saw a lot of the themes in Hi Ren resurface in this video which I thought was interesting as this was I think, his fait accompli from the beginning. Everything's connected, like it or not. The whole album somehow circles back on itself with such cunning intelligence. Thank you, Ren, and thank you FTB and all the reactors for this much needed and possibly healing journey he's taken us on together. This is I believe, the start of a Renaissance.

I like how the first storytelling scene is the narrator looking into a mirror, which ties back to the demand of MG 1&2 to do exactly that "But we like to point the blame, blame, blame, blame / It's easier to blame / But point the mirror at ourselves / We're all part of this old money game" And, yes, you're remembering correctly: "Rain, rain, rain, rain / A storm, it comes our way," and in this video, Jimmy's perspective evolves when he comes in from the rain. My favorite part is the choreography and camera work/angles. It's so detailed and perfectly timed. And the colors and quality of the video is so lush. It's all gorgeous even without the music. Crazy talent.

I interpret it like this : his Dad kept pushing him to make more money and more money and power and more power ! No matter how rich or powerful he got his Dad was never proud of him...told him it's not good enough! When his Dad died he was pissed because he never gained his Dad's approval so he spiraled down still trying to make his Dad proud until he lost the use of his legs. That's when he finally realized his Dad was wrong about doing whatever it takes for fortune and fame! Wanting to be your best and succeed is fine but not at the expense of hurting or killing people and selling your soul, having none of the precious things in life (friends, love, family, etc)

Poor Jimmy; he had so much potential and it was frittered away solely in the pursuit of money and power. At the end, his health has suffered and he is left, despairing, to put a bullet in his brain. Even when he’s dead, what has he created (nothing), and who even will bother to remember him, let alone mourn his passing because he had no time for relationships. One thing I don't see mentioned in the comments is the metaphor of his dad in our lives. His dad is the "voice" of this society we live in, our neighbours, close and distant relatives, friends etc. We need to be wise as Ren says in the end, to filter out these voices that push us to be part of this money game. Maybe it's a stretch, but this is my take on this whole story. This is the only solution Ren proposes, but it only works for individuals: be wise, cherish your relationships, nurture the kids so they don't become "sheep", and don't let the expectations of your community/society drive you to Jimmy's end. Money is not inherently evil, but people are stupid one way or another. Money is only a tool to achieve our goals, it shouldn't be our goal to have more money, else you will "take more from the cookie jar than you need" and forget why you even started. In my eyes being wise in this context means to always remember stories like this so you know when to step on the breaks and take a look around you.

Yes, that's Ren playing piano at the beginning! He also composed the music for piano and strings! Except for the opening couple of bars. He directed the video and produced the music/audio. It was recorded live but it's not quite one take. They had to make a single edit, before the water, as the 'rain machine' was being temperamental. Yet another incredible and masterful performance from Ren and overall, an absolute masterpiece... again! :)

REN considers this song as his best on the CD. A lot of hard work went into this one. It was almost done in a one take but they had to do that as another one shot for when it started raining. REN is just a sponge with the knowledge he has and that sponge keeps sucking up facts on any topic. He is one of a kind!!

Yeah, just like Money Game 1, it's a live music video. The album version sounds very very different. His broach on the lapel of his suit jacket had a hidden mic. He also said there were a ton of ambient mics disguised everywhere. He said mastering and mixing this video was a complete nightmare.
