I’ve used a lot of headphones for the past years from known brands like bose, beats, sony, jbl etc. The ATH-M50X BT2 is by far one of my favorite… Yes it does not have the ANC feature, but I was never a fan of it anyway. I still prefer transparency of able to hear my surroundings. It is an overall a very well balanced headphone in my opinion….

The M50x series are way better than the M40x just to own them. The cans rotating to either side for one makes them more durable. They're tanks, you can toss them around and they just last forever. I don't think these cans will ever die.

Mine randomly stopped turning on today. Plugged them in, red light on. Charged for a morning shift at work, red light off. Try turning them on and they go on, connect via Bluetooth to my phone and then immediately power off. Repeatable, happens every time. Will probably claim my warranty.

Replaced the tiny ear pads immediately. I cannot for the life of me get the mic to work on this. I even tried it plugged in. The sound is impressive, but the mic not working makes it a failure for me. Also, the instructions do not show how to enable or disable the background noise, and I've seen it done on one video, though, sadly, the uploader didn't show how he was toggling it on and off. When I go to the Windows sound settings, if I tab over to the mic section, the audio stops playing though I can see the sound indicator moving. I assume it's so you can test your mic, maybe not. Either way, the mic just does not work. As for the headset, I was playing music on WMP and whenever I start any game the audio disappears completely. I'm just so frustrated.

I love using headphones and have a high end pair and an upper mid range pair. In comparison these for the price compare very well. Bluetooth sound quality is very good, great amplification. To up the quality further I use wired or into my Fiio BTR7 or ifi Gryphon. A very good buy for traveling with. Great value and well built. Pleasing, musical sound.

Seems like these should be a good alternative to the MUCH pricier Sony, Bose, Sennheiser equivalents. Good sound, good performance when used with cable, functional app at a much more affordable price. What’s not to like about any of that?
@NoFontNL Жыл бұрын
Only thing it doesn't have is active noise cancelling, but you get better sound quality in return.
@NoFontNL Жыл бұрын
TLDR: They are great! I bought the ATH-M50xBT2 half a month ago. Can't really compare it to the Sony WH1000XM4 because I only tried them on in a somewhat crowded store. Noise cancelling was definitely apparent, but it was hard to judge the sound quality in those 2 minutes. When it comes to the ATH-M50XBT2, I can definitely hear the difference in sound quality when using Bluetooth vs wired. Bluetooth never really works when you want perfect sound, so I am happy that you can use the headphones in wired mode which from what I've heard are on par with the original ATH-M50x headphones unlike the AKG-371 BT from which I've heard that the sound quality in wired mode doesn't compare to it's actual non Bluetooth counterpart. Bluetooth sound is still good for casual listening btw. When I first tried the ATH-M50xBT2 on, the clamp force felt a bit too much as I was used to cheap headphones that easily fall off, but after having used the new headphones for about half a month, they feel nice. Just needed to get used to the clamp which isn't too bad (I don't have the widest head so that may be an important factor) and the headphones feel way more secure so I don't have to worry that they will fall off when I lean forward. The only thing I don't like is that the headphones come with a pouch instead of a proper hard case. The pouch folds too much for my liking so I feel like the headphones aren't protected that well. Just don't want to take the risk. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase. But if you have the chance to try the Wh1000xm4, you could. Especially now Black Friday and Cyber Monday are happening and in my country the XM4 is about the same price now as the ATH-M50xBT2. But I don't need the noise cancelling and the Wh1000xm4 are more bass heavy by default which is not really what I was looking for. Forgot to mention, battery life is also great. Had to charge them after a week of constantly using them (about 6 hours a day, after 7 days they went below 10%). I had to get a 3rd party case for the headphones but for the rest it was definitely worth the money
@chuckolatte600 Жыл бұрын
Can confirm, I've been using them for work quite often! Excellent sound especially for BT, the mic is decent but not great (no real issues in my use case though). Money well spent!

Nice review...what about loudness in BT mode, some people reported that they are not loud enough even on max volume...I know that those can go deadly loud (132-133db) wired on some good amp, but can't find any data of the amplifier power inside cups. It's lame that manufactures that make bt headphones does not provide much info about amplifiers inside, at least power so u can estimate output SPL.

@residentzero wired being analogue inherently cannot be lossless. There is noise from the source device's digital to analogue conversation, the cable connections and the cable itself acting as an antenna. If you've ever had to suffer the endless clicking from an electric fence blasting RF you'll understand. Bluetooth 5 uses forward error correction so the transmission (within design range) is lossless. The codecs AAC/LDAC are not lossless, but at sufficient bitrates (not that high) they are transparent compared to FLAC. Those that always demand lossless and can 'hear a difference' demanding higher and higher bitrates are just audiophiles who don't understand information theory and/or human hearing perception.

Stretch out the headband...and leave them wide open on a wide box (even on their own shipping box), when not in use. Also I highly suggest getting aftermarket thicker earpads...it's night and day difference in terms of comfort and not much change to the sound. I use BRAINWAVZ memory foam sheep-skin ones and the pressure on my earlobes is gone ( the plastic grill of the inside of the cup used to touch the tips of my earlobes to the point they hurt like crazy...not anymore). Check them out. PS. Oh and I use them at the office some times hours on end...no issues what so ever with the replacement pads.
