Swan Song is one of Miyakos masterpieces. She composed the whole thing adding those Chopin and Dvorak classical parts on the piano, and Asami wrote the lyrics. This performance is truly special. They all shine here. Miyako composes like 90% of all Lovebites songs. Plays piano, shreds on that guitar and also plays bass, even drumms a little bit. There are no limits for her. Asami said: Every band needs to have Miyako, but only we have her...

Legends says that the Swans only sing on their last day in life, there u have the titel "Swan Song". And Asami do a version off the dying swan from swan lake just when the piano starts.

Always better to think of Miyako as a pianist who plays guitar rather than a guitarist who plays piano - it explains SO much . Her musicality is off the charts and her classical training accounts for her skill at both composing and arranging and is partly the reason she was able to teach herself to play guitar to such an exceptional level in her very late teens .

Asami ❤ Her voice! ❤ I love Asami. Amazing voice, lots of power, deep, rich midtones and she is the perfect front woman in how she engages both with the crowd and supports everyone in the band. Plus her lyrics as well. Just wait until you get to the "E" songs, as well as some others. That said, you see now the level Miyako operates on on a daily basis lol. They are all so otherworldly talented. Totally with you in this reaction. They stunned me when I first heard them and hearing every song dozens of times now, they still do. This song belongs in a museum, along with Frozen Serenade.

Brilliant review Michael. Most of people say Miyako is motionless, expressionless, even complain about it but she's got full of emotion. She plays in her emotion and absorbed in playing her music but nothing else. She somitimes even seems like she is playing music in her ecstasy. She is not playing a show but great music. She is the musician.

Thankyou, really, for this. I’ve seen so so many reactors missing the point with Miyako and when you paused after the solo and pondered on her putting her soul into the music I was like yeah, this guy gets it. Her natural stoicism and on stage demeanour are so often misinterpreted as most western reactors think you have to be bouncing around the stage and grinning from ear to ear to show the audience you care. I know you’ll be getting to them eventually, but there are some of my personal serene Miyako moments I’m looking forward to seeing you encounter, notably her more soulful solos in Break The Wall and Edge Of The World, her cover of Parisienne Walkways (which I believe she has also done on piano), and my all time favourite Miyako moment, her opening to Above The Black Sea live at Wacken. I truly hope one day you get to experience these ladies live one day. Oh, subbed too. Thank you for truly getting this wonderful band.

This criticism that Miyako is very stoic onstage is a little tiresome. She is, it is true, a little more reserved and introverted than the other members. Partially it is because she is somewhat more cerebral and partially, I think, because she has a lot more responsibility onstage. I saw the band live twice in June and I was struck at just how much work for the overall sound devolves on Miyako. All the effects, mixing, and backing tracks fell under her responsibility. Most of the time she had too much to think about and was too glued to her pedal boards and computers to run around the stage to the same extent as the other girls. There's another thing too and this is noticeable in this song. The band are artistic performers and their performance is subject matter appropriate. Swan Song is a sombre song about death, mortality and sacrifice. It would be downright inappropriate to dash about grinning whilst trying to convey the serious emotion of the subject. I once heard them be criticised for being too serious in a song when they were singing about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima for heaven's sake. They are very conscious of the message of their songs and they leave all the happy smiley stuff for their party pieces such as "Raise Some Hell" or the like.

@ yep, agree with everything you say, and thanks for the insight into what we DON’T see on live performance videos which of course are polished edits. I cringe when reactors comment on any of them “not smiling enough”, regardless of whether it’s Miyako being singled out or not. I think it was the recent Liar live, I saw someone comment on Fami, saying she didn’t look like she was enjoying herself I mean, is she supposed to be jumping around for joy during it? If the western-tinted glasses are taken off and you observe Miyako through a different lens, it’s clear she lives and breathes every note she plays.

Miyako is a generational talent who is a virtuoso on BOTH the guitar and piano. She has been classically-trained on the piano since the age of 3. Miyako also composed & arranged "Swan Song" and this track is a neoclassical metal masterpiece. Throughout the song, you can hear motifs from Romantic-era composers Chopin (intro, main riff, solo) and Dvořák (Chorus). Miyako's piano intro is Chopin's "Étude Op. 10, No. 12 in C minor", aka the "Revolutionary Étude". BTW, Chopin is pronounced as "show-pan". After "Swan Song", you'll be ready to have your mind blown further with "A Frozen Serenade" LIVE : kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXbNf2qads1npc0

What impresses me is the fact that she went over to this electric piano, that looks like a grand piano but its not really the same, and manages to play this piece, not only the Chopin part but also the part in the end knowing that she will have to keep up for another hour and it was a big hall with 2000+ in the audience, talk about preasure and tuff conditions. Anyways, it seems to be time to order this live Blu-ray/dvd as well as the cd since its one of a kind for sure.

Chopin (pronounced Show-pan) was a Polish-born Romantic-era (1800’s) classical composer and piano virtuoso who lived most of his life in France. He is considered one of the great classical composers, specializing in highly technical works for piano. "Etude" is French for "study". Chopin's Etudes were written as "studies", or lessons, for his students. They ended up being popular things for professional pianists to play as part of their concerts, in part to show off their skills. This is one of the more famous ones and is considered one of the most difficult ones. Miyako, who composes a lot of Lovebites’ music, is a trained classical pianist, and was originally considering a career in classical music (other options included medicine and teaching). When she was 18, she picked up the guitar, and is now (quite obviously) an elite-level guitarist. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák and Chopin, as well as her stated favorite, Russian romantic composer Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). For this performance, she actually played the Etude as the intro, but it’s not normally included in their shows.

IMO it would be accurate to regard Miyako as a classical pianist who also just happens to compose and play guitar in a heavy metal band. She is also a wife, mother to a 3 year old daughter, an animal lover, gear head and Star Wars fan. A most remarkable young woman. At some point you need to watch her 3 part series on how she composes music on her official KZbin channel, 'Miyako Official' as well as her piano covers of classic metal songs such as Eagle Fly Free and Garry Moore's The Loner which you will find at 'Miyako Topic' on YT. If you also watch some of the other videos on her YT channel it will give an insight into her personality. This old grey haired 75 year old is not ashamed to admit to being awestruck and a little in love with this amazing lady (who I got to meet last summer when Lovebites played in London) With bands and musicians like Miyako around heavy metal is in good hands for the future. Asami trained as a Ballet Dancer before becoming a singer. She basically gave it up after being told she was too short to be a professional Ballet Dancer. During the performance of Swan Song she is dancing some of the movements from the Dying Swan, part of the ballet Swan Lake by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. All these ladies have talent in depth.

Some knowledge of history is necessary to understand the meaning of the lyrics of this song. In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, leading to a revolution known as the “November Revolution,” which ended in failure due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's representatives presented “Etude OP10, No. 12” in Paris. Franz Liszt, a friend of Chopin, named it the “Revolutionary Etude. Miyako (guitar/keyboards) composed “Swan Song” based on this “Revolutionary Etude” and Dvorak's “New World Symphony. Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite “Swan Lake,” based on the historical background of “Etude de la Revolution. SwanSong” is a requiem for the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only Love Bites could complete.

I have some bad news for you. Miyako and Asami are already married and became mothers this year. BTW, you have already known about LOVEBITES, BAND-MAID and Hanabie, who is next? My recomedation are NEMOPHILA, Gacharic Spin / Doll$Boxx, East of Eden, Hagane, PassCode or SHOW-YA. mayu as vocalist from NEMOPHILA is Miyako's fishing friend.

It's gonna be a while before migrating to more bands. Cause these 3 bands are not the only people I have scheduled to check out. Other genres and what not

@@ellaevansbolt how about my leg queen Midori? Lol

@@Ravage-Mike-Reacts Midori is a figure bodybuilder. hence the tan. Not married.

@ellaevansbolt I saw a couple of her competitors and wow! And I kinda figured she was because of the tan and her cut arms. I will have to make a proposal sign for whenever I get to see them live. Lol

Love your reaction to lovebites , sorry for this , Chopin sounds like this ( show pan ) just weird spelling of his name , might make a bit more sense to you and then you will realise who miyakos influences were when she studied as a child , so sorry for correcting your pronunciation of the word Chopin, love your reations to this group, Tim Australia 😊

When you listen to the Album "Judgement Day" (Not the Live Stuff) all the Base stuff was played by Miyako !!! Cause Fami wasnt in the Band when the Album was produced. At all she plays 18 Instruments.

Sorry, but that's not quite true. On the 'Judgement Day' Album, Fami is listed as the bass player. The bass parts on the 'Judgement Day' Album are played by Fami. Indeed, the bass parts for the 'Judgement Day' Album was originally recorded by Miyako. She did it before Fami joined the band. But it was only a Demo Recordings! Which was needed for subsequent work in the studio, when the band would start recording the Album. The 'Judgement Day' Album itself had not yet been recorded. The recording of this Album was irregular, with breaks in work. Asami was pregnant. For this reason, for some time before the birth of the child and for some time after the birth of the child, Asami was physically unable to work with full dedication. In addition, the '5th Element' ( April 2 - August 27, 2022) competition, where the band was choosing a new bassist, had not yet ended. In early summer 2022, Asami gave birth to a child. On August 27, 2022, the 3rd, Final Screening, of the competition for the bassist's position was held. In which Fami won. After Fami was accepted into the band, Miyako gave her demo recordings of 10 songs for the new Album and asked her to record the bass parts in 2-3 weeks. The ladies talk about this in an interview that LOVEBITES in February 2023. Nothing personal. Just the facts.🙏
