Fun fact im going on hormone blockers, i had to go to an appointment talk about it go to another appointment talk about it more, get blood work, get a bone scan, get a bio social assessment, and have both of my parents sign a consent form after everything has been explained to them ALL before i get the meds. There are literally things that make sure no one is forcing me. It is my choice, even the doctors have told me if at any point i change my mind i can tell them and stop. These conservatives saying shit like that makes me so mad its my choice. Hope this helps maga freaks.

Fr i wanted to take them cause i have pcos and im trans (duh) and it could help with both. I had to see my primary cate doctor, a gynecologist, an endocrinologist, get my blood drawn, have my thyroid tested, had it throughly explained to me and my parents, then they said "no we will put you on birth control (female hormones) instead" even tho all my blood work and testing came back fine

when I was young I went to a christian school. I was like 8 and had posed the question of what would happen to someone who killed themselves and the kids and a bunch of the teachers told me that those people go to a special place in hell for not accepting God's gift of life. My brother in law commited a few years later, I was entirely traumatized for many years. it was people who do stuff like this that give christianity a bad name. Im so sorry to hear that and I hope youre doing better these days. Your brother and anyone else who committed suicide due to mental health reasons are definitely not going to suffer in the afterlife. Most toxic religious beliefs like that don't acknowledge mental health struggles like depression. I was also struggling with depression for all my life, until I recently got diagnosed and medicated. I always knew that I wanted to live a happy life and tried my best to, but without medication I was miserable and struggling with harm thoughts/ideation. Now that i'm on medication life is much better and much more manageable, so it just confirms to me that it wasn't my lack of belief in any invisible deity, it was just me needing healthcare.

I left Christianity because of the extreme trauma it caused me. When I was maybe 14, I was depressed, BADLY, and threatened to commit to my mother. Her response was to scream at me and tell me I was going to Hell just like my cousin who committed. Up until that point, I had been told he got in a car crash, so it was doubly jarring to hear. I never recovered from that. He was a scared little kid. He was 16. He had an addiction and he couldn’t quit no matter how hard he tried, and he didn’t know he had a way out because he left before my mom could get ahold of him and say “we’re gonna save you”. They say he went to Hell but put angels on his gravestone. It disgusts me. I leave Mikes Hard Lemonade on his grave, have since I turned 21. He died when I was 5. My mom used religion to scare me out of a mental illness that couldn’t be “cured” like that. It wasn’t a bad attitude or a nasty habit. It was a disease that was tearing me apart mentally and still does today. But she tried to “cure” me with religion.
