The Na'vi tribes in Avatar by James Cameron are inspired by many indigenous cultures, including Native Americans, Amazonian tribes, the Maori of New Zealand, as well as African and Polynesian cultures. Cameron and his team designed the Na'vi as a blend of influences to represent indigenous peoples and their spiritual, respectful connection to nature.

He wasn’t jealous , he didn’t trust Jake and treated Jake as such. And turn out Tsu Tey was right about Jake. Jake had to prove himself to Tsu Tey by becoming Toruk. In the deleted scene you’ll see Tsu Tey wasn’t even jealous that Jake ask Neytiri mated it was more that Jake was coming in and breaking tradition, it was more important that Tsu Tey focused more on Jake messing up their culture as a community than messing up he and Neytiri plans.

We also learn so much more about Grace's NaVi school and how thats where Netiryi learned english. We also learn about Netiryi's sister and how she was killed outside the school. This cut version cuts too much important information and scenes. Like Tsuteys actual death scene and last speech to Jake, it was beautiful.

It wasn’t just that Sully got in and the other guy didn’t; It was that Sully got in, having no training, having put in none of the work, not even particularly asking for or wanting this- a guy who is there at all, more or less by accident, and landed his encounter with the Navi by botching his first day out in the field- and he just gets immediately handed the opportunity they’ve all been trying their hardest to earn for _years._

I know you keep saying that the natives would just attack anyone that would come close to the village, but it wasn’t always like that. If you look at the deleted scenes, you’d find out that Neytiri had an older sister, Sylwanin, who was betrothed to Tsutey, and attended Grace’s school. When she learned that they were bulldozing trees down, she gathered other students to blow up the bulldozers. Some soldiers chased them down to the school and shot it up, killing her and some of the other students, and it was all right in front of Neytiri. That’s why the “sky people” and Grace are forbidden to be near their tribe. She actually stated earlier in the movie that the relationship with the indigenous are getting worse when you tend to use machine guns on them.

34:20 the big planet would not be habitable, at least not for us. It’s a planet like Jupiter, a giant ball of cloud. Maybe it has life soaring in its skies, but it would likely be difficult for humans or any humanoids in general to attempt a settlement. People have solved this issue with their own fictional world building projects though, like gigantic mats of plants that make up floating landmasses, like trees, or a better comparison would be algae on the water’s surface, but much denser. I just find this stuff really cool and fun to think about.

the Na’avi are “sully” (pun intended) based off of Native American tribes with some inspiration of African culture. I feel like this movie is just rewritten history. As a Native American, I had to learn all about the dark past of how my people were treated. My ancestors were forced out of their homes, had their chair chopped off, forced to learn the English ways, and were killed for speaking our Native tongue. My current tribes language is dying because of what happened over a century ago. We have very few Elders that can speak fluent. It’s very sad but it’s reality… Fun fact tho, the High School I went to in my town allowed an actual class that teaches our language to anyone, and everyone. I got free credits from it because I’d already known majority of my language by High School.
