I was there too that evening at the third highest row on the southern tribune. This concert was the best of my life. Our seats were cremt covered by the main hang but by a sidefill hang. Although we didn’t have the stereo effect some middle seats had, still I gotta say this was the best sounding concert I ever whitenessed. And as you say, guitar sound was 100/10. If you want any of the recordings let me know:)

It's very sad that David is getting old, everyone gets older with every new day. But I have great respect for what he does at his 78. I’m not even sure that I’ll live to that age, much less play the guitar)). In any case, I wish him long life and many more concerts. He is a very dear person to me, although I have never met him❤.

Hey there! First of all, I'd like to say "thank you Musty!", I discovered your channel recently and, from what I had the opportunity to see, the quality and the quantity of your Gilmour-related material is really impressive. The time and the dedication put in your work are palpable... wish you the best and I hope you will keep going for long! Second, I was in Rome, October 1st. As you said while talking about the setlist, the second part of the concert was not so "rich" as the first one in terms of guitar performances, but, in my opinion, the combo "The Great Gig in the Sky" - "A Boat Lies Waiting" was easily one of the best moment of the show. I know... David was only playing slide guitar and the main focus was the choir, but the sensations and the emotions they were able to convey in that context were overwhelming. After A Boat Lies Waiting ended, I turned to my father and he was basically crying, my eyes got teary too... best musical experience I've ever had :') Said that, 28 or 78 years old, I don't mind, Gilmour is still one of the best guitarist on this planet. Long live David

I have to say his premium site is well worth the asking. I've been studying Gilmore for a very long time. And there is a lot of information out there. However I've never found a place that puts it all together as well as his site. I like his bedroom sound approach and my home is where I most often play. His tone guides make this possible. I've totally revamped my pedal board based on his tone guides. I have never got so close to his sound as I have now. I'm 70 and still rocking and thanks to his site I'm still enjoying playing.

One of the huge problems in what you heard was your physical location. To really hear the best sound, but not ever the best view, you have to get a seat right in front or right behind the FOH sound board or booth. The whole show is designed to sound best by the guy running the board. All that said, it will be interesting to see this show improve over time. DG hasn't toyred in how long? Yeah, it sounds like it has been that long.

I was gonna mention the same. Right on. Also the front seat sometimes cause certain frequencies alter if the stage is very high for the sitting height. Typically low frequencies deflect down but high frequencies go straight over your head. I felt your live recording sounded as if the sound is mid-scooped. It could be just the way the recording worked in your device.

And lastly, as a huge Division Bell fan, I was really happy with the many songs he performed from that album.

I was there on this day too. Had seats on the side tribune, row 6. Amazing sound. Was really happy to hear Marooned as it is so rare as live performance. High Hopes was definitely a highlight for me, it was so cool to see the balloons bounce around from a little higher perspective, added to the atmosphere. Sorrow was a killer, the lightning, the bass, the seats if not even the whole tribune was shaking, 10/10. Also loved Fat old Sun. Was a tiny bit disappointed by In Any Tongue and the second solo of Comfortably Numb, but still, legend. I really enjoyed the solos of David and Ben during A great day for freedom. Between two Points and Scattered were lovely, but the solos could have been longer, agree. I found Great Gig in the Sky quite touching, but granted, its not the original one. Also, during the band introduction, he forgot Rob and said "Fuck" which I got on video, hilarious. Tbh, the best concert I have been to so far and I feel so happy&lucky that I got the experience the master himself at least once.

I think he has made a return for his daughter's sake. And I love that about him plus he was missing something. He toured since he was what 18 or something it was a big part of his life. Was worndering how Scattered will be played live (my fav song from the album) especially how David with the band and techie will handle swap from acoustic guitar to electric in the solo - was suppried that the first few sounds was played on acoustic guitar by back volcal singer and the David took over with electric guitar playing first part of the solo which on the album he plays on acoustic. In the later shows David extends the middle part of the solo with some improvisation. Love the show overall especially Sorrow and Marooned. High hopes was great too and I wasnt disactracted with baloons as I sit up high but it was cool to see it. Found Time and comfortable numb solo well played.

I was at that show and I'm totally with you on Marooned. An out of this world experience, both in tone and melodies. It shows his unique approach to guitar playing. Interestingly, it seemed to me that it was easier for him to play the Red Strat, as he struggled a bit with the Black Cat strat in some songs. In the new songs, especially Scattered, I was hoping for improvisations, but he stuck to the safe studio versions. Probably he will get more confident later in the tour and that's why I would prefer they were filming e.g. in Hollywood Bowl. Thanks for the video!

Hey Mustafa. I'm sure it must've been ur most unforgettable moment when DG looked at you like that 😅. I travelled all the way from India for the 2nd Oct show and my Dream, literally a dream came true. Was lucky to have the Gold class tickets and those merchandise for memorabilia sake 😀 but what an unforgettable experience I had.. personally I felt that the best performance on that night was Dark & velvet nights & scattered. Even in any tongue was master class. Felt as if I was right in the centre of my dream.

Hey Musty, nice video! I went to the 1st of October night, and I'm still recovering from it 🤣. For me, the night's highlight was Sorrow, the sound of the Muff combined with the RA-200 was incredible, the whole place was shaking. I think he kept the RA-200 mixed 50/50 with the WEM cabinets for the entire concert as he did in 1994 with the Doppolas. If you listen closely, you can hear the high-frequency "whirling" sound of the rotary speakers in almost every solo.

yeah I do hear it, but not 50/50 in my opinion. Maybe 70 dry 30 wet? Can't wait for an official release

I was lucky to go along to the Brighton rehearsal shows - the quality was amazing. I agree Sorrow tone was amazing, and he played the opening with these with little more staccato, which really sounded great It looks like he changed Great day for freedom to be a duet, he played it on his own in Brighton. I'm looking forward to Thursday this week, I have a ticket for Royal Albert Hall really looking forward to it. I think Great Gig and Boat waiting, where really well done.

Was there for the first night, row #4, between the center of the stage and the PA on the right. I thought: "man, my wife will kill me. It will be excruciatingly loud." Nop... quite the opposite. She enjoyed the show, I could hear all the instruments perfectly, at a very pleasant volume. Fantastic show! I have to agree with you. The Muff tones were glorious. And I was lucky, I believe: In any tongue is one of my favs and he nailed the solo in the first show. Still have some goosebumps, just by remembering it...

Sorrow was my Highlight at the 29th.... What a sound
@101wut23 ай бұрын
I saw him last night at the Royal Albert Hall, and it blew me away. I disagree with you slightly on the setlist - A Boat Lies Waiting was a huge highlight for me, and that was was the best version of Great Gig since the album! Marooned was a little underwhelming for me. Like you say, entirely subjective! The balloons in High Hopes were a nice touch, but the people in the crowd jumping and grabbing were a huge distraction! I'm not sure if it was because of the venue or if they've tweaked something, but I didn't detect any muddiness in Dark and Velvet Nights. In fact, the tone was spot on throughout the show.

Hi Mustafa, It sure was. It must have been quite an experience. Concerning “Coming back to life”, for me, it played 1 half tone lower. Surely to adapt with his voice a little tired. I really regret not having been there to see “Sorrow” and “Marooned”. I can't wait to see the DVD and especially your work on it. 😉😋

It doesn't look like half tone lower though? And Eric, you should've been there man. Words cannot express how great Sorrow feels.

I'm not a musician, just a great fan of David Gilmour's guitar playing, but from the videos I have seen of his performance of Comfirtably Numb at the Rome concert it didn't sound as good as full as his other concerts and the guitar sounded a bit tinny. I'm not sure if that was due to his guitar or the sound system. Still, he is a legend and so is that song, and it's great that he is still performing live concerts.

Will be interesting to see how it compares to the Royal Albert Hall gigs, and then the American ones; and how the set list, solos, etc mature throughout the tour.

I saw him as Pink Floyd at Texas Stadium, 1988 and 94. 6th row center each time. I watched his shows in Poland and Pompeii. All seemed to be perfection to me. Something is off with this concert. They are not as tight, a lot of pitch issues, and he seems to be having difficulty hitting notes while singing and harmonies were somewhat off key. Even with that, I find myself playing his current show over and over. He is a master at what he does. When he laughs it off I feel he is just an amazing human. His songs project that as well. He has nothing to prove to anyone and just enjoys playing. He has been a hero to me since 1973 when I first heard Dark Side. I love that he has brought his daughter into the band, passing the torch, and she is just as amazing.

I saw him in 2006 at Radio City, and in 2015 at MSG. I liked the 06 show more because i got to see Rick there too, and Echoes was just about the greatest live experience I've ever seen in my life. I noticed he has played pretty much the same songs over the years. This is the first tour i can remember where Shine On wasn't on the setlist. I really wish he would play On the Turning Away. I know he played it at a few Division Bell and On an Island shows, but not since.
@mustyguitar3 ай бұрын
wow you're a very lucky man! echoes live?!?! yeah I was really expecting on the turning away or on an island. not easy songs to sing.
@frankbizzoco19543 ай бұрын
@mustyguitar I wasn't expecting Echoes to be played whatsoever. Then I heard the first PING and I knew what it was right away and completely lost my mind lol. If you've ever seen Radio City Music Hall, it has these large arches around the theater and the lasers and lights were going all the way up and down the arches, especially at the end of the song. Whoever did the lighting did a superb job. Its still fresh in my mind. All 25 minutes with Rick and company.

Wow what a experience. I was there for the last show lots of rain and the concert wasnt far from being canceled but the god of rock save us all.....anyway i agree with most of the things you said. First note of 5 a.m and i had the tears of happiness in my eyes. Fat old sun was good but i could not realy hear the guitar solo part it was realy lost in the mix. Marooned i didnt like much but i respect gilmour its not easy song to play and gilmour you can see he is improvising a lot and sometimes you feel he get little bit lost so marooned i founded little bit screwed. High hopes perfect but i didnt like the balloons at all lots of distraction for such a masterpiece. Sorrow aaaaaah like you said i was shaking the sound was just perfect never heard anything like that. Also there was a moment after boat leis waiting gilmour was crying i think the combination of the song and the ovation after got him. Comfortably numb was amazing just before the song all the people from the back run in the front of the stage the security could do nothing there was like thousand people in few seconds in the v.i.p section standing. Also during the last solo there was little rain going through the lasers it was just pure magic. Anyway thats my experience. Happy to be the part of this community on patreon thanks a lot for your work musty you are the best my friend. All the best to everybody happy learning happy playing enjoy the life 😉

I don't think your review was negative. It is way way less harsh than Bjorn on gilmourish. Live shows are always different in sound. The bands different the mixer is usually different and being 78 is different. I can't imagine being 78 and still even playing. @kjek1 you are correct, Bjorn hasn't and he made a video about it. It's called: luck and strange "why I'm not going and why you should" look it up! I'm interested in how much it cost to go to the concert in Rome. I looked and saw prices around 160 euro, if thats correct I could fly to rome have a room in a hotel and its cheaper than 1 night at The Royal Albert hall, the Cheapest seat is around 800 euro.
