Heavy bends on his age are extremely difficult so give him some credits. He doesn't have to tour for the money he does it to say goodbye to his lovely fans. David is my guitar hero forever.

The most moving show I’ve ever attended to in my life. It’s not just about music, but the farewell of a very talented human being, a translator of emotions, a master of human reality, a communicator and a creator, now enjoying life as a 78-year-old adult, gifting us with a lesson about life, in the most beautiful city ever. Thank you for all you have given to humanity, David!

Who cares if he hits a couple of bum notes here and there...he's been hitting perfect notes for decades upon decades. No one bats 1.000% in baseball and the same goes for music. Not to mention his age...let's just be happy he's alive and sharing his gift. And another thing, as a soloist, he stands high above almost all of his contemporaries and peers. There were great guitarists from the 60s and 70s who were highly influential. And yet, I can't think of anyone who was as lyrical as Gilmour consistently was when crafting a guitar solo. I can't hum too many of Clapton's solos back to myself...maybe one or two. Almost all of Gilmour's solos are lyrical, which makes them memorable.

He's very choppy now in his playing.. lots of bad notes, different tone, bends are a little sharp etc... but he's 78. Should be applauded for even being able to get on stage without help. Let's see how we're doing at that age if we reach it... probably struggling to put our shoes on. Proper legend this fella.

Yes, just like your grandpa at a party. Is it pity or genuine appreciation?? I think the problem with all the rose-coloured-glasses comments are of fans that want to see the best regardless of the reality. Well, I remember David in the Momentary Lapse of Reason days, and he was at the very top of his game then. My glasses won't be rose-coloured. My dad is 82, and in his young days, a damn good fighter. If I needed some protection these days, I WOULD NOT TURN TO MY DAD!!!

We all have opinions and would like to share it just as much as you do. considering people expect me to do a video and do a review, I had to point out what's important for me. focus on the %95 of the good things I say and don't let the %5 kind, humble negative comments bother you. let's all hold hands and run like in the 80s movies.

If I wanted a prefect rendition of the old Pink Floyd songs, I'd go see Brit Floyd or Australian Pink Floyd. I'm going there to see the man himself, live, most probably for the very last time ever. Also, where else am I going hear his latest album live? I don't think any of the tribute bands are going to cover it. I'm perfectly OK with him not playing every song the same as the studio version, in fact if he did, I'd be concerned that I'm listening to a recording, rather than an ACTUAL live performance. David would never do such a thing...

Retiring on top of your game maybe is the best for your legacy. But for the human being, I don’t think so. Even our heroes age, and I think its quite profound to see that. David is still putting up a good show, and in a sense he is showing us that he is passing on the toorch. While he loves to touch people with his music like he have all his life, soon we will be the ones to have to keep it alive for eachother to enjoy. It cant be easy being a living legend, long live David Gilmour. I hope he’ll be able to enjoy many more years of playing with the same passion.

Can’t wait to watch a full break down of the show. As everyone has said, his vocal range is much shorter than before. There were a few notes that either were missed or just were off. I think he might be trying to change things up a bit too much on some songs, like “Time”, but it still isn’t that bad. I forget how many dates into this tour he’s in, if he’s still shaking any rust off. The years since his last tour are years that, age wise, you do tend to lose a little agility. I’m not sure he can improv like he used to (like in the second “Comfortably Numb” solo). Still, his worst playing at nearly 80 blows my best playing away. The tone chaser in me goes back and forth on what he’s using in some songs- a Big Muff or the Tube Driver he has set to high gain levels. Can’t wait for the full review!

ok.... early spring of 73. Dark Side of the Moon not yet released. "Money" was getting airplay, so I had heard that. I was (am) a long time Pink Floyd fan. Had bought "Umma Gumma" album from a cutout bin (discount) and became a fan. Reviewed the album for my high school newspaper. So I'm now at the end of my freshman year at a college in the NYC area. PF had played in Boston a couple of night earlier, and I had tickets for the midnight show (actually started at around 2AM) in Radio City Music Hall in NYC on St. Patricks day. The show starts, you hear the music and some fog effects. They're playing 'Echoes' with the driving bass line, but you can't see the band... until they appear out of the fog on a mechanical riser that lifts them up from below the stage while playing. First half of the show they do all the songs I love. After intermission, they play the entire Dark Side of the Moon album - including with the chick singers. So the first time I heard the entire album was live. Top that, commenters.....

However, Gilmour is unique And I don’t have to tell you that having played these songs thousands of times they become repetitive and only when inspiration strikes him don’t have those explosions of uniquely beautiful perfection Take Pompeii for example the venue, the night, the single experience the vibes the city the memories all this combined to create inspiration and make, in my opinion one if not the best performance of his life There was the young Gilmour, the middle aged Gilmour and now the elder Gilmour And like a fine instrument that may sound a little raspy it’s grown and matured perfectly into itself I wish you peace ✌️

Seen people's comment after your pinch of criticism. They don't know you Musty and your skills, and the fact you know every single note of David's music it makes you demanding listener. I know it was very important for you to see your master playing live and you appreciate every minute of it. They just don't get it.

@@mustyguitar I do play a guitar myself and really can tell you are great in what you achieved, your play style is brilliant , the feel , timing, amazing. On the other note, I have seen his pre gig performance in Brighton , and honestly he was in much better shape than this. He looks very tired and sometimes event lost in his own solos on this gig in Rome. It was so much better here in UK.

I think people are getting a bit bent up over the wrong things. Yes David is a certified God of the guitar and has written and performed some of the most influential pieces of music ever, but he is not immortal, no one expects him to be. No one is having a dig when they point out their guitar hero is on the downhill, its a part of life and we are lucky to see him age unlike with Hendrix. It is okay to talk about these things and bring them to light (with respect). David knows he's no spring chicken guys XD.

I saw pink Floyd at Earls Court in 1994 and david at Albert Hall in 2015, really sad I didn't buy ticket for Pompei 2016. Unfortunately his playing isn't upto 1994 standard but not bad for a 78 year old.

Sad they do not use Mr. Screen for this tour, indeed. Mr. Screen is irreplacable to my opinion. And a stage is much smaller comparing with “Rattle that Lock” Rome stage, isn’t it? Actually a height of the stage is nearly the same, but the usage is only half of it. Anyway, lightning and sound production is flawless!

Great video your lucky to see him live and front row. But l have a weird question if David Gilmour says he done with pink floyd then why did he played pink floyd songs. Anyways he's a legendary guitar player and plus l would sell my arm and a leg to see him live.

That's a VERY complicated question in which one could write many paragraphs trying to describe/answer. You have to begin with why David even continued Pink Floyd in the late 80's, and well, It certainly had its share to do with marketing and exposure post Waters. But to keep it brief, and answer your question as to the here and now... he has enough solo material to do an entire show (and I, for one, would be absolutely fine with that), but many Pink Floyd fans attending want and EXPECT to hear those songs. And as well, many songs released under the Floyd brand were very much David's solo stuff to begin with. Most notably, Comfortably Numb.

Red Strat: I was wondering if you know "which" red strat it is? David sold is guitars a few years ago. In December of 2022 I visited the Pink Floyd exhibition in Montreal. There was a black strat on display but the label read "replica". However there was a red strat in a single display and the label read "spare guitar". I assume it was a spare bought at a similar time than the main red. I wonder if the red strat he is playing is a custom shop replica or the spare I saw in Montreal? I got my picture taken next to it just in case.

Just curious - did he have an intermission? Because he might benefit a fair bit from having one. I assume Comfortably Numb was towards the end, and I imagine that he has to be careful not to let his hands start cramping at his age. I also imagine there might be better and worse days with that. Or, he might just be in need of rebuilding that kind of live playing stamina. And, playing live, there are always going to be better and worse nights in general. It's hard to tell on just a phone recording whether the sound was good at the venue or not, but I was also looking to see if he was wearing anything in his ear, and I don't see anything there. If he's trying to just play by ear, off the stage sound, at his age, I think he needs to give himself a break a bit. That said, when he's playing the same place a few times in a row, he might get more used to the venue's sound.

Thanks for sharing! Quite the experience to see the legend live. Gilmour is my musical hero but it’s evident from these initial shows that his playing and singing have significantly declined. Nevertheless I’d love to see him again. Saw him live in Chicago in 2016 and he performed impeccably well. I suppose it’s unrealistic to expect him to play at high level at 78. At least he isn’t lip synching like so many other older musicians like Waters.
