When he was little, my son just called this movie 'OH, the Boov' lol. He had a hard time communicating sometimes, and the concepts of like 'sad-mad', and the different colors the Boovs turn when they feel certain feelings really helped him out.

I’ve loved this movie (as an adult) since it came out & often need my Oh fix (it’s great for quoting, like “can we go into the out now”). All the voice talent was perfection from Jim Parsons as Oh, Steve Martin as Captain Smeg, Rhiannon as Tip to Jennifer Lopez as “my mom”. Love her cat Pig too and the combined Bov & humans sharing Earth ending.

I loved this movie! From the songs to the characters and humor and the lessons along the way! Well, until my baby brother(I'm 22 and he's 9 atm so we have about 12 to 13 years in age difference) insisted on rewatching it everyday AND rewatching it again as soon as it ended multiple times a day, lol 😂 It's still a great movie and I do still enjoy it! This is the first movie I carried my granddaughter to see & she STILL lives watching it. Now, she did cry in the theater when the spaceship landed & it looked like it fell on "Oh". Then, she cheered up when he came out of the dust. She was really young but she is 11 now and still remembers crying to that part & me consoling her.

I feel like this movie is a testament to how quickly things have progressed, because I remember when it came out how big of a deal it was to have a Black girl as a protagonist, how everyone gushed over her hair texture, and I remember thinking how gorgeous she was, too. Now looking back at this movie, it looks kinda wack with weird proportions and faces (why does this teen look 8 LOL) and people generally think the plot is so-so.
