Fact: the gifts are not random, they correspond to what their holders need. Like this: Luisa is super responsible, so she needs strength to bear it all; Julieta is shown as the most motherly figure, and they do say that mother's cooking heals; Bruno is superstitious and scared of the future, so seeing it could help him get rid of this fear, etc.

It felt more like their gifts affected their personalities. For example, Bruno became superstitious because he believed his power brought bad luck. Luisa developed a complex because, as the strongest member, they put a lot of pressure on her. And Pepa is so emotional because of the stress of having every little emotion being loudly judged by her own powers.

The earlier gifts were based on things that *abuela* wanted and a good half of those gifts are more like curses. Antonio is actually the first gift based on what *he* wanted, and that's thanks to Mirabel.

The powers are all related to Abuela and what she wishes she had or feels is needed. Her three kids have foresight, weather, and healing. She wished she could have known that she'd have to flee with her husband, she wished she could have healed her husband and she wished the weather had help d cover their escape/doused the fires. Then the next generation is things she wanted. She wanted to know everything happening, Dolores could hear everything. She wanted to appear perfect, Isabella filled that. She wanted to be helpful, Luisa got strength to do just that. She missed her husband, Camilo got shape shifting. Then Maribel, the house didn't give her a power because she is destined to be the next guardian of the miracle. The house only really listens to her and abuela after all. And after she didn't get her gift, Antonio's is the first gift to be related to something he likes! And that's how Maribel wants things, for people to be themselves and be happy. It shows the shift and it's honestly great☺️

It’s cool that they didn’t give a gift to Mirabel, I think it empathises the message that she’s special enough even without powers, just as Luisa is strong enough and Isabella is perfect enough They are amazing as they are, they don’t have to bend over backwards to meet demanding expectations and be hurt in the process, just be themselves

I agree. I relate to Mirabel in so many ways, especially when being labeled as the person who messes things up. It’s true that I fumble but that doesn’t make me clumsy or incompetent. Stuff happens and everyone makes a huge deal out of it. Also, given the fact that she was the outcast of the family, she could’ve turned out like her uncle but didn’t because she had her parents who also looked out for her and sees her pain. TBH, if I was her, I wouldn’t tolerate it anymore and prove everyone wrong about my place and capability.

Mirabel door is the front house door, that's why when she was gonna get her door it disappeared because she already had one, and she didn't get a gift because she is the gift and communicate with casitas through her emotions.

What if Mirabel just received her gift at the end of the movie? What if Mirabel is the new leader of the house and the family? That's how the magic was restored because the miracle was inside her all along. That should explain why Mirabel's picture in the door is in the front while the family is behind Mirabel.

fun fact about this movie: when it came out, disney marketing teams thought that mirabel and isabela would be the most popular characters among little girls, so they pre produced tons of merch and dolls and stuff with them on it. but when the movie was released, there was actually a much higher demand for luisa toys, which disney didn't predict because she's not as "princessy" to the point that there were actually merchandise shortages for luisa dolls and such. but she resonated with young female audiences much more than even the creators of that movie expected. just a reminder that the kids are alright.

I don't think Pepa is the wrong person to have the weather gift. Because I believe it is the constant "You need to always be happy as the weather depends on u" thing that she always tried to hide her emotions growing up..making her emotionally unstable.

The best analogy that I heard to explain the magic - Mirable situation is that if you think of the family as an orchestra - all the family members make up the orchestra with their gifts representing their magic making music and Abuela would be the conductor - overseeing and guiding the family/instruments. So Mirabel didn't get any magic because she was destined to be the next conductor of the family - keeping the family together and guiding them.

The leading fan theory is that Mirabel does have a power, she’s the next matriarch / person in control of the house. She never got a room/powers because Abuela was occupying it. She can restore the house because she is the future matriarch of the family.

I understand why people don't like the grandma and I don't either. But I don't really agree when people say mirabel should've stayed angry at her, I think her whole reasoning being "you've had such a hard life, it's not fair for me to be mad at you" is stupid. Instead it should have been about how their relationship is gonna take time to rebuild, but it's worth it because they're family. I still don't like the stinky poopy grandma but I think mirabel and the rest deserve a happy family that can work through tough times, regardless of if the conflict comes from outside or inside the home. And that is kinda what the movie tells us, but I wish they did it a better way

I'm still glad we got to see the flashback of course but I feel like they should've been more focused on the present when it came to forgiving and look to the past as reasoning for why she acted this way and why the family started falling apart. They kind already did that but I feel like they could've done more

​@lilac3266 I think the issue is that the resolution comes too quickly and needs a little more consequence. Yeah, the house breaks, but they fix that within 10 minutes of screentime. I think just giving the film a couple more minutes for Abuela to HEAR about herself, especially from Bruno (don't cut off his rant!) would fix this problem a lot.

The grandmother looks amazingly like the flower granddaughter. Basically, Mirabelle had to make amends with each of her family members. She hadn’t really been close with either of her sisters. The fact that Mirabelle was able to reconcile with Isabella and begin to understand, Louisa and their problems, means that she was able to help repair the torn Family fabric. Oh, if you have time, go back and check out the pictures of their door ceremonies, you’ll see that every single family member who has a door is represented by what they would look like as an adult, except for Antonio, who looks like how he is now. The going theory is that all the rest were trying to impress the grandmother. While Antonio didn’t have that worry because he was close to Mirabelle. So the rest of those who had doors were trying to act more adult to impress grandmother, while Antonio doesn’t have that worry, and can be really himself to the fact that he looks up to Mirabelle instead of grandmother. Oh, Isabella is the eldest of the trio. It’s Isabella,Louisa, then Mirabelle. The grandchildren are, Isabella is the eldest, followed by Dolores, then Louisa, then Camilo, Mirabelle, and Antonio. Camillo is a couple of months older than Mirabelle.

Isabella's the oldest of the kids, so she probably remembers Bruno most accurately. I wouldn't be surprised if that's part of where her perfection complex comes from. Seeing how he was treated despite how nice he was. I also think that's why she was the only one who didn't say anything negative about him in the song, and maybe why she became more aggressive towards Mirabel after she started said song.

I was fed coffee as a kid! Started when I was two. My grandpa used to work construction…he was on the young side when I was born…and he’d go out running every morning before work. I’d sneak out of my room and wait on the couch, and when he got back, he’d make us both a coffee and he’d read me the comics in the paper before he started reading the rest of it and I ‘read’ the comics over again by myself before he went to get ready for work, and I got back in bed. I feel like some people who don't understand why Mirabel isn't staying mad at the abuela haven't had immigrants parents/grandparent who have escaped from the horrors of wars. She doesn't forgive abuela yet, but she understands and can empathize with her. You never hate your parents/grandparents for holding on too tight because you know they mean well despite what they've said or done, especially if they change for the better. I dunno but this movie really hit close to home for me.

Why I understand you can’t show everything because of copyright, I feel like the amount of cuts in this video are too much 😭 I mean, I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one that thinks this, your twitch viewers can enjoy everything with you, but the people that watch you on youtube can’t enjoy this reaction of yours due to all of the quick cuts you’ve made.
