An Australian girl, Mary Donaldson, met and married Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark in 2004. She had to learn all the protocols associated with being a royal and the Danish language. I watched it and was not impressed. I actually felt sorry for Harry. He seems to carry a lot of trauma that is not being addressed, so it would be very easy for him to cling to a strong personality like Meg. That being said, as a 56 year old woman living in poverty and struggling to get afloat in the current economy, I found the series incredibly tone deaf and hypocritical.

In one of Amala's later points, she couldn't believe that Meghan hadn't received any training on Royal life; I remember reading in the papers months before they were married that a lady-in-waiting had been assigned to Meghan to do exactly that. But, of course, the cynic in me looks at it like when Grace Kelly married Prince Ranier of Monaco; maybe that was what she was expecting, rather than a constitutional monarchy where members of the royal family are expected to be nonpolitical, which definitely wouldn't fit in with Meghan's activism and self aggrandisement.

Not only was M assigned one of the Queen's lady-in-waiting, she were offered meetings with the Queen's private secretary and for Sophie, the Countess of Wessex (Prince Edward's wife) to advise her. Before their engagement M was given a 30 page dossier by one of H's senior staff members. M didn't want their advise, particularly Sophie Wessex's support, perhaps because once H&M were married Sophie would be lower in the hierarchy/ status to M. Also, the Count and Countess of Wessex (Edward & Sophie) had tried to do the half-in-half-out as members of the Royal Family. They stayed as senior members whilst working in their previous careers. It all blew up in 2001, S get entrapped by the press and E&S had to make a choice to either work or be senior members of the RF. They chose to be in the RF and gave up their careers. Perhaps M didn't want to know that it would never be possible for her to monetise a senior position in the RF.

This is my take on it too - please don't tell me she didn't know what she was getting into. Plenty of resources available about Diana's experience, and the British Royal Family in general. To be surprised that she had to curtsy is ridiculous - so either she didn't do any research at all (that would be both stupid and arrogant), or she's just playing victim. I was prepared to listen to their story at the beginning of this whole thing, but now...they say they want privacy, but at the same they're trying to monetise their fame while also getting out of all the traditional requirements of their position as royalty. IMO, can't have your cake and eat it too.

100%. They wanted to be "half-in half-out" where they could keep the titles, use them to make money, and only show up to the engagements where they could network. They were told no. And that one word created this entire storm they've been trying to push every since. They're banking on an American audience being ignorant enough of the UK, it's traditions and history that they'll just be believed without question. Americans think the "stiff upper lip" is still the norm. They don't know about the Heads Together initiative, or how the now-King had therapy himself. So she's hoping they'll just accept that she was told that it wouldn't "look good" for a member of the RF to get therapy, and that alone would make them pity her as the "victim" of their Britishness.

Meghan knew about the royal family. She has her photos of her outside Buckingham palace at the age of 15! Had to eat from salad bars because she was so so poor growing up but at 15 is having family holidays to London. I live in England and I couldn't afford to go to London when I was that age.

For the American audience who don't really know Harry, he was a very popular royal but also widely known to lack intelligence, he suffered with press paranoia and had a number of other issues which is why he was still a single man late in his life despite being one of the most eligible bachelors on the planet . None the less he worked hard for his country, the institution and was, to most who knew him, relatively happy as a support to his brother and family.. his great misfortune was to then meet someone who despite being the polar opposite of himself ( she loves the paps and camera's), was hungry for fame, wealth and power, he met a woman capable of looking at his weak spots, his vulnerabilities and model herself into his dream life partner... MM pursued him for sometime creating a back story of charity and activism that would trigger emotions in him, that's why she couldn't let him meet anyone from her past for fear of contradicting the lie she had built. It's a very sad affair and unusual to see something so obvious and high profile in public view , pretty much everyone can see where its heading and you have to hope he doesn't burn all bridges before the end, that he can't then let himself go back to his old life.

LONG FACTS!!! READ ALARM: ...she was not known anywhere but in Suits world. She was defo unknown in the UK for sure. The Compton piece was for the US print. She did not grow up with a single mum, but in a wealthy household and a single father, financing her hobbies, education, university and got her into the industry. Plus before the wedding there where long talks, and Meghan was offered to continue with her career after her wedding, to be a private citizen and to gradually either continue to go from career to charitable work or join the firm as a full senior / working Royal. The race card came after the wedding (although first whipers of her behaviour started there) aka the transformation of the cable TV actress into a Dutchess and her public displayed hypocrisy, arrogance, rude and diva attitude. The press started to mention the public incidents. She then broke with Royal tradition which was upsetting to the people, the press too and they started to call her out. Yes, a number of the headlines in the British Press when Harry and Meghan started dating were racist. One stated that she's from "almost straight outta Compton." Another stated Harry was going to marry gangster royalty. Would they have used those headlines if Meghan was fully white? What is the purpose of using gross stereotypes like that to falsely describe Meghan's background when more civil language could be used? You can still find those articles if you don't believe me. As for the money spent in her outfits, aren't these people royals? Unless she was crapping all over that privileged lifestyle, what does it matter how much she was spending. The British taxpayers are covering the expenses in order to support the Crown.

Catherine dealt with a DECADE of it, which is what they were showing as "proof" that M was hounded too. Like, really? Where's the footage? Where's the pictures? Catherine was younger too, to be going through that in her 20s, jeez. They ignore that public opinion of Catherine didn't improve until after George was born, and she'd proven to be a strong and supportive member of the family in her work. She started out despised, and then slowly won everyone over. Harry did engage in danger whenever it was called for but there were limits to what he could achieve due to his celebrity status. That's why he had to leave prematurely. Media tried its best to discredit Harry but he always was in the forefront as a Soldier, according to everyone around him during his military service. You can doubt that all you want, but there has never been any proof of Harry being unworthy or afraid. He served his country and his men all he could, in his situation.

He was invited to a 30 year memorial service to commemorate 11 Royal Marines killed by the IRA. He declined as he had a prior engagement planned. This was the Lion King where he peddled Meghans voice over skills to the Disney Boss. You can check the dates if you like. The Memorial was at Deal Barricks in Kent. It was July 14th 2019. Nowadays he's more of a self absorbed POS.

The times she was photographed was when she called them herself, the photographer (Charlie Purvey Splashnews) stated that she literally posed for them. Even episode 1 felt like a torture for me, they way the relationship it's been described sounds like two teenagers, like Meghan seeing Harry as a prince from Disney and not as being part of a very established institution, she wasn't even very famous before dating him, she's clearly using him and his childhood trauma from losing his mother to manipulate him, Meghan was practically raised as an only child, people like that tend to be quite self-centered if their parents don't set proper boundaries, as someone who also comes from a broken home I can sympathize with her, but seems like her parents had a pretty good arrangement and there wasn't drama between them which it's not something that many people who have gone through the same situation can say. There is so much suffering around the world at the moment, people are being executed in Iran, I think Harry and Meghan do not deserve our attention.

Also about the whole Tyler Perry thing.... She's telling the world, she couldn't get hold of any professional or help during her mental health crisis, yet! Was able to contact Tyler Perry (ok, this happened after they left UK, I believe but still) to talk break down and talk through her problems! I really feel that what she really wanted was for the institution to go to press and say 'hey, poor Megan is suffering mentally here, we're going to get her professional help' then publicly get her help. Problem was, they didn't want to go public! Not that they didn't want her to get help! Mental health is no joke and should be addressed appropriately but people also need to understand we need to take responsibility for ourselves and its not always appropriate or even necessary to announce it to the world.

As others have mentioned there are 2 sides to every story. The situation with he dad and sister is not like she wants you to believe. MeMe did what she could to get her dad to “leak” the letter and he used same paparazzi MeMe has used both before and after for those pics. And remember wedding invitations went out long before those pictures was taken and her dad never got one. He has apologised, but she’s not showing him the compassion she’s preaching about. The paparazzi in the “documentary” is not even from events with H&M. They were never hounded in the UK as they claim. One pap was probably here and there but far from how it was showed in their program. There are also paparazzi who are claiming they learned about their location when staying at TP’s by H&M themselves. So please take everything they say with a pinch of salt. There are so many things they have said that have been proven to be false. Even the article with headline Straight out of Compton is betrayed to be racist, however, the story was more of a rags to riches story, the girl from a simple ordinary background marrying a rich prince, and not anything to do with race. They just twist everything to fit their narrative.

I’m the wrong person to point this fact out, but mm marked the White box in the last State California Census. Mm’s issue isn’t her tint, it’s her personality. She triangulates her way through life. Look up what triangulation is, it’s fascinating. If mm were living on the streets of LA, she’d use the same triangulative language to her tent dwelling neighbors. She’d set them up as new friends, and at the same time pit them against each other. She’d pick out the strong men to “use” as needed to evict a denisan she didn’t like. This sadly is baked in as early coding. She’s in her 40’s and her behavior is juvenile….arrested within her juvenile adolescence . I won’t say she’s narcissistic……but she does enjoy her reflection on all levels. Her treatment of her family on the world stage is very telling. Self reflection is void. You need to understand the context of that lawsuit. She was found to be lying in court. She had drafted the letter purposly to 'pull at the public heart strings'. (text message evidence) She lied about participating in 'Finding Freedom' and had to appollogise to the court. 'The Appeal Court heard she had asked an aide to pass on information to the authors of a biography - despite having earlier said she "did not contribute". Meghan said she had forgotten the events and had not intended to mislead.' She only won as the paper published more than 40%. She won £1 in damages because her case was so poor.

Unfortunately your assessment of her family is incorrect. The palace offered her help for her family with the paparazzi. She only got help for her mother. She fed her dad to the wolves of paps that kept making him look bad. He & Sam ended up falling for a setup to make him look better but was to actually give an excuse for Megan to dump him. The palace wanted her to invest more family to the wedding but she didn’t want to. Non of the rest of her family started talking to the press until after she did not invite any of them. The letter was written with the intent to have in the press. Her dad did not so her friends put the worst parts on People magazine to make her dad look bad.

Have to correct you there on Sam Markle, she wasn't absent from Meghan's early life and a lot of what she's said about Meghan has been proved to be true. And the pap who set up Thomas Markle for those photos is from Backgrid and has since worked with Meghan and taken many photos of her out and about. I think many people, like me, had no idea she was black until she started talking about racism. I understand that's her experience but I wonder if she considered that people were criticising her for other reasons, like being a foreigner, an actress, a divorcee etc and she interpreted that as racism. Of course there are always a few idiots who will say something racist and stupid but most people aren't that way. I recall her being very popular in the beginning and the more she complained, the less popular she became. She comes across as entitled and out of touch with everyday people who don't have the privileges she has.
