1- Are you sure this movie was meant for kids? You see many shirtless men on the beach and girls in bikinis and we literally get like a one second shot of Spongebobs crack. Also, all of them out of the water are muscular, ripped, and very big which is not very body positive. 2-They did not do Sandy justice and if I saw her out of the water, I'd be running for the hills faster than you can say aye aye captain. 3-If you watched the show, you can spot many easter eggs throughout and little similarities. For example in the show, Squidward loves music and his superhero name is Sour Note and he has a clarinet. They use the music from the show which is cool and also one more Billy pointed out, Squidards shirt matched his superhero outfit. 3-I saw this in theatres, and I also wish they got to show other characters out of the water like the Flying Dutchman or Barnacle Boy. 4-I think Billy loves this movie because of how much.... WATER there is! 🤣I drank my water today.

It was filmed in GA! The beach scenes were filmed on Tybee Island and the street scenes of "Salty Shoals" is actually Savannah (my hometown). I remember when they were filming downtown and all.

Idk where all filming locations were, but they filmed in Savannah when I was working there and I ended up getting to do one of the scenes (as an extra bg character running away from Antonio Banderas) bc they filmed in public and the actual hired extras invited me to run with them when I dropped in during my lunch break. They filmed in a public street, so you see anyone wearing relatively normal clothes, they are normal ppl that got caught on film as part of the shot. All hired personnel are wearing the unnaturally colorful clothing that you'd only see tv tourists wear (and are the only ones that you can clearly see). And they redecorated the entire street to look extremely colorful, too (with all of the prop carts and street wares-usually, everything being sold is inside a building). If you look closer at the buildings in the far background (the rather bland/faded white or brick buildings), that's how the buildings usually look without the paint job.

I really love the first two movies. The SpongeBob Movie is such a classic obviously, and filled with tons of great memes as well as a great story and awesome songs, but Sponge out of Water is so insane yet still coherent that it's impossible to hate it. You have most of the movie being classic SpongeBob (which tbf, they should've hinted at when the movie first came out because one of the biggest critiques was that only the last few minutes had the superhero forms, despite being in ALL of the marketing) and even the live action bits feel like they're animated (Antonio was a perfect choice for Burger Beard). Squeeze Me is unironically a super fun and catchy song, and Bubbles the dolphin was such a random choice that I wonder if the time traveling portions of the movie are hinting at what the writers were seeing while crafting this script XD I cannot stand Sponge on the Run for several reasons, but I also can't agree with people who say the first movie is the only good one. SooW feels like the bridge between a great movie with almost no flaws and a flawed movie with almost nothing great. But honestly, I can't tell if Nick will never make anything like this again because they don't understand what made it work, or because they're terrified of letting the writers go nuts again. Tbf, it was a bit of a gamble (seriously, who would think to let the ERB guys write a rap battle between a magical dolphin who used to oversee the universe and a group of seagulls that just wanna sing the theme song?), but sometimes you gotta take a chance to make something new and good.
