When I first discovered the Marble Hornets, I started watching in the morning and was so entralled that by the time I looked up and noticed my surroundings, it was already DARK again. I didn't even really eat that day. That night, I woke up and sat up in bed because I felt like something was wrong. The doorway was open and Slenderman was just standing there, motionless. I couldn't move, scream, anything. I just stared at him until my ex touched my arm and asked me why I was sitting up in bed, and then Slenderman was gone. It was my first and ONLY bout of sleep paralysis in my life and gave me both a phobia and obsession with Slenderman for several years after which included a lot of nightmares.

I feel as though people don't give enough credit to Marble Hornets and it basically shaped the entire Slender Man culture itself. The first entry for Marble Hornets came out exactly 10 days after the original Slender Man image was posted on the Something Awful forums. Because of it's growing popularity, many people created their own ideas off of it, like the Slender Man: The Eight Pages game that almost every single KZbinr has ever played back when it came out in 2012. The game took it's pages and it's scenery directly from Marble Hornets, most notably the tunnel. People never even realized that that game was inspired by Marble Hornets but the games success exposed the existence of Slender Man further on the internet because of KZbinrs playing the game. Marble Hornets is possibly the reason that Creepypasta became popular as well, with so many people associating Slender Man, Tim(Masky) and Brian(Hoddie) with Creepypasta even though they technically aren't Creepypastas. In short Marble Hornets is basically responsible for the way internet horror has come to be and probably the popularity of analog horror itself.

@@azayfam8003 Masky and Hoody are behind totheark, there is *likely* a third member because there seem to be three kinds of editing styles and a mask (different from the mask Masky wears) appears in entry #26. People have dubbed this figure as Skully. People theorized it to either be Jay or Seth (Marble Hornets Camera Man, he was taken by Slenderman in one of the entries). The Creators explained that their original idea was that Jay was Skully (which then would explain his memory loss and odd behaviour) but they didn't expand on the idea because they were worried people would confuse Masky as Skully. I also heard that some People had the idea that "Watcher" was the third totheark member, they appear in the cancelled marble hornets sequel, Clear Lakes 44. They are also a cryptic mysterious figure. A few years later a Marble Hornets Comic started being released, Skully is an actual character there. Their lore is really interesting and I hope they get the spotlight as the Comic goes on :). If you don't mind Spoilers for the Comic, Skully is an entity that is every Slenderman victim fused into one being, including Jay, Seth and the Stranger Alex kills. So the theories were sort of proven right? The third totheark member is Skully. Who is both Jay and Seth (and various others)!

Marble Hornets is probably still honestly not only one of the best analogue/found footage (more found footage but kinda same dif) series of all time. The writers didn't need to go as hard as they did with all the characters, but they did anyways and it leads to a top tier story where the monster itself never gets old or stale and we never really understand it, except that it is a monster and it is not to be messed with. Very few series come close to this level of holistic cohestion.

I was watching marble hornets a few days ago, I was in entry 21 without ToTheArk's video. I can't wait to see more of you, Jack, and to watch it on stream again. considering that I can't theorize all of these by myself

yooo!! its really cool to see that MH is still getting some good attention! heads up that the term of 'genre' you're probably looking for is ARG/unfiction! (not saying this with negative connotations!)

Back watching Jack react to the series so I can be refreshed before the marble hornets anniversary this year!! Always loved how Jack analyzed everything in this series

marble hornet is the series that got me and my best friend close, When we met in highschool we had nothing in commun and it was his hyperfixation at the moment so i got into it so we could talk more and the rest is history !! I will love the series forever ( the night i watch it i mistook a lampost outside my window for Slenderman it scarred the shit out of me )

I really recommend TribeTwelve. It’s another Slenderman based horror series that is interconnected with a bunch of other series and has a fascinatingly complex story. The acting is a bit sub par but the story it puts across is excellent in my opinion, second only to Everyman Hybrid.

2:30:00 the operator seems to have control of the distortion, otherwise the tape would be distorted from the begining.

1:30:44 IDK what type of architecture/structures these are (I think the step things are bleachers/seating areas, not sure about the weird thing at 1:30:43-1:30:44 as the camera pans) but I like it. Old, urban, being-reclaimed-by-nature vibe going on.

An amazing series, but I did notice Jack was talking about, to the ark, as a secondary channel. The history of this is that the account did not exist, the ark episodes were uploaded to the main marble hornets channel and the account owner did say he did not post them. Someone else had access to the account and he doesn't know how/who

I saw jack uploaded the second vod today and I decided to watch this one before hand, not realising that the fact it's bonfire night might be a problem- every so often whilst I'm watching I hear a distant bang and it scares the shit out of me lmaooo😭😭😂
