Here's a crazy stat for y'all: From the start of Wolfe's career (BW, 2011) until 2022 (End of SwSh), Wolfe won 6 regionals. From the start of SV until now, Wolfe has won 4 (less than two years). 3 of them were in 1 year. 2 regional wins in a year is a crazy VGC stat by itself. I think aside from Worlds 2023, he's placed top 16 or better at every event he's attended since SV. This is, frankly, one of the most ludicrous levels of consistency a player has ever had in VGC in such a short period

25:00 the reason why the trick was so important, and why Chuppa doesn't actually have to kill Politoed is because of a very niche mechanic that only applies to recoil, destiny bond, and perish song. If all Pokémon faint on the same turn, the battle is decided by which Pokemon faints last, which is dependent on speed. Since Gothitelle is the slowest Pokemon on the field, if perish song was properly stalled out, Wolfe would win, whereas if Gothitelle went down and Politoed didn't, Chuppa would win due to Politoed holding the choice scarf and making it faster

For context of the Wolfey con Perish. That is a Global tournament. An online pokemon tournament and Wolfey did not get to top cut because he had to attend a party with his friends. He played less games than other player and got cut-off. He said he finished top 38 on that. And he confirmed that he is the one that Marco faced with his Perish team.
@erwindavid28594 күн бұрын
For context in the finals, Wolfey and Marco already face off in the swiss rounds. And Marco got beat when he brings Torkoal, and in those games, Torkoal is just a sitting duck and cannot deal significant damage to anything. So in the finals, Marco adjusted and never brought torkoal.

Open Team Sheets don't show natures or the EV/IV spread of any Pokémon (Wolfey said that in one of his videos. Don't ask me which tho) - Which after a single battle is at least something that can be figured out with some educated guesswork. And honestly, I think quite often that info can be crucial for damage calcs and needs to be taken into consideration for the overall battle strategy. Getting a single Intimidate off on the right Pokémon can be the difference between winning or losing a set. (I have no personal experience in competitive Pokémon so note that I'm purely talking based on what I have seen. And honestly I wouldn't survive in the competitive circuit for long, I still refuse to give my Delphox coverage moves for reasons unknown to even the big yellow rat upstairs himself)
@erwindavid28594 күн бұрын
Patterz, open team sheet just shows pokemon's items, moves and ability. It does not show EV spreads. That is the tricky part, in slow pokemons they don't know which pokemon will move first. They take notes during the battle and keep in their mind.

1:20:28 the reason Porygon2 only ever gets attack buffs is because of how Wolfe EVs his mons. I participated in VGC back during Gen 5 a couple of times, and man. It's SO much to keep track of, and that was with LESS diversity than there is now. I also intentionally took a slightly gimped team the first time, all because a friend wanted me to take a physical lapras and i didn't want to. So I took a Simipour and it was the WORST decision. Did love my Skarmory and Miltank lead though. Was a LOT of fun.

i have a question about the sets you use in Then We Fights, why do you guys often use rock head when magic gaurd negates all recoil like moves from double edge and steel beam which rock head cannot do for the ladder, but also negates toxic damage meaning you can switch in on poison to can a functional status immunity, immunity to rocks and spikes damage, sand damage, as well as negate any recoil from the life orb, while maintaining the 30% Spatk boost? it is a ability that does everything rock head does and more

Hey patrerz. Not sure how wolfey would feel about it but you could probably make a mock up starter selection screen in Unity(or even for the web) that works in all the same way. Then connect it to a db that has all the SV legal Pokemon it selects 3 determines if any are shiny pops out the 3 images(likely static to avoid the ire of daddy Nintendo) then we fight hopefully without the Nintendo ban hammer.

This puts some tension on the collection part (do i want to catch the mad lad, and if i do, should i catch a counter) and then a lot more skill around the draft picks..
