I think the point is that HSR has a lot of jokes about the game it self. People makes jokes just to fresh up the seriousness of the plot, but you cant make joke when the whole game is trying to be a big comedian. It's like the game makes jokes by itself so you don't need to make them by yourself. Jokes become funnier when they unexpectet. For example: Jokes about how Neuviellett likes to drink water is funny because you know that in the actual game no one will be laughing at that. It's out of character thats why it's funny. You can't makes jokes about some serious characters in HSR because there always a person or npc who will say "Why is He/She so serious for no reason?"
