Next time you go to San Diego, you should definitely go check out this really cool museum. It's a decommissioned ship called the USS Midway. It'd be really cool for you to vlog it! And since you're retired, you only pay like 10 bucks or something like that. Good idea for a future video :)

I was stationed on the USS Antietam CG 54 , home ported in Long Beach , California . We were in the shipyard there in the summer of '95 when my enlistment expired and I got out . The Naval Station had closed and only the shipyard facilities were still in operation. There was just my ship and another ship being refitted for the Taiwan Navy . It was kind of sad to see such a good base wind down to a close . When we had a helicopter squadron embarked they came from NAS North Island . A few times I and some other Operations Specialists were sent to school in San Diego . Usually for Anti Submarine Warfare or Naval Gunfire Support training . So sad that there aren't any other sailors in Long Beach to pay a visit to . It was a nice little port to work from . My first duty station was the USS Sellers DDG 11 , home ported in Charleston , South Carolina . That base is closed down now . All that remains are the brig and the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek. Enjoy it while you still have it is all I can say , because time waits for no one and change happens before you're ready for it . Peace and Love to all the Fam !

Wow! I was walking those spaces back in the 1980s! Spent some time in Barracks 787, HC-3 in the old “McDonalds” hangars, HSL-35 in the old LAMPS hangars (now tore down?). Last command was instructor duty at HSL-41 FRAMP (now HSM-41 right?) those hangars were brand spanking new in 88-90!
