I honestly feel like the reason why Daphne's relationship felt off is that she was a kid and he wasn't. She was innocent and clueless, he wasn't. It's hard to have that "pining for each other" level of chemistry and sexual tension if the two characters aren't emotionally and mentally on the same level. The whole point of this season is that Anthony are Kate have met their respective matches.

As a brown girl, Kate is the Indian 'disney princess' that I needed! Every time the Sharma's came on screen, you could see all the Indian influences on the characters, be it their accents, their costuming, or even stuff they mentioned or did in passing. Like that scene where Kate was oiling Edwina's hair and chatting, that is such an Indian 'mother-daughter' pastime. Also, as a South Indian girl who grew up in the west, hearing these girl's from an English show, who I identify with so strongly, call their mum "amma" was so weirdly emotional for me. It was the first time I really understood why representation is so important, especially in our multicultural world. It makes me happy to know that young brown girls these days, who are growing up outside South Asia, have so many women (real or fictional) they can look up to and are able to feel like their seen, like they belong. edit: guys, I don't think bridgerton is what you should look up to for historical accuracy

im convinced anthony's character wasn't rewritten, just recontextualized through his own perspective this season instead of daphne's. it allows for more complexity to shine through. he was presented as aloof in season one bc thats how he comes across to others while in this season his aloofness is in part cause by trauma over his father's death and him being obsessed with his family affairs, business and standing in society. his negative traits that led him into trouble in season one are also here in season two, they just seen more endearing or played up for comedic effect rather than a point contention (being headstrong and dismissing daphne's concerns over promises her to that weird dude vs. fencing with his brothers and discussing edwina and kate).

I like this take, that each season is largely in the POV of its main lead. S1 Anthony makes more sense once we know how he views love and responsibility.
@buchbummelant89802 жыл бұрын
I am torn about Anthony. I think in the first season he was just a rake, enjoying life and not thinking about the future, just doing his duties for the family while also not accepting he is not prepared to be head of the house when it comes to his siblings. He clashes with Daphne and their mother a couple times, even says to Simon that he doesn't need to marry because he has brothers. But his relationship with the opera singer (can't think of her name) made him grow up. She helped him grow up and realize that he can't just go around and do what he pleases, he's set in his ways and his role in society. And at the end of the season he finally accepts this and for me that's the personality shift we got at the start of season 2. He's ready to accept his role in society as the Viscount and therefore marry. He's intent on finding a good match, while also continuing to be a rake. He continues to visit prostitutes until he meets Kate. And then He chooses Edwina because he's looking for a wife who fits his list, not because he's looking for love.

The reason why Kate was apprehensive about telling her family about the deal with the 'Sheffields' was that Edwina would've married the first guy who showed any interest in her just to please both sides of the family and Kate wanted her to go into society without that pressure, genuinely trying to find true love.
@jaginaiaelectrizs63412 жыл бұрын
Yes, because Kate knew her sister would feel obligated to fulfill that "duty" of securing her family's financial future rather than prioritizing her own self, if her sister knew about it. And, as the older sister, Kate wanted to spare her little sister from that so shouldered all of that responsibility herself. And she didn't tell her mother, because the second season had very strong themes of grief making people check out of life and become bordering on nonfunctional; so, much like Anthony took charge of his own family's affairs after his father's death rather than being allowed to grieve too, so too did Kate...only Anthony was forced into by default of being the oldest living male, while Kate just voluntarily chose to assume that role because of who she is and also because she felt as if she had to earn her place within her family or somehow repay her family for not treating her poorly just for having been a stepchild to her sister's mother, like she felt as if she should do everything for her family and then some because somehow she never personally felt as if her place within the family was ever entirely fully deserved or secured or whatever if she didn't(not because of anything her family themselves ever did or said to her but more just because of the outside society around them). I thought that was actually both shown and told fairly well, in the series, myself! 😊

@@jaginaiaelectrizs6341 YEESSS!! My thoughts exactly. This is exactly what my sister and I discussed. I'm the eldest child in the family and I so relate to KATE and Anthony. YES, to both of them. Because I'm asian and if something happens to my parents, I would be like Anthony. Taking on the responsibility of the parents but I would also see myself in Kate in the way she wanted Edwina to find true love. Kate having the feeling to earn her place in the family is due to the fact that she is not Mary's daughter. It happens to adopted kids, it happens to this kind of family dynamic. OVERCOMPENSATION. And it was fairly shown in the series. You will understand both Kate and Anthony based on how overprotective they were of their family and sibling/s but in a way that's also a bit self destructive because it wasn't healthy. My professor once told me that it's not my responsibility to keep the family together, it was parents'. But when your parents are in shambles, you TRY to act mature and a grown up even though you are not yet there and it sometimes turns out wrongly.

@KC-cd9ld2 жыл бұрын
@@AGEE_95 yeah people forget daphne and simon were good friends for about 3 episodes before they got married. that's probably because of the series adding so many sex scenes after their marriage though. after that it was all just about them having sex and daphne "fixing him" to want to have kids with her. although i do disagree about anthony and kate. you may have gotten that impression from their chemistry being off the charts when they look at eachother, or them not being friends. but the love was definitely there. their similarities and what brought them together was shown in a more subtle way, in contrast to simon literally spelling it all out in front of the queen in season 1.
@DRush762 жыл бұрын
Rather odd thing to say, considering the series revealed them becoming friends before Simon got cold feet and backed away out of fear of falling for Daphne. That happened around Episodes 3 and 4, by the way.
@AGEE_952 жыл бұрын
@@KC-cd9ld Well...no. I woudn't say that, because it wasn't just spelled out to the audience. Simon just confirmed what was already shown and well-developed. I don't think that Kate and Anthony having that one thing in common of being the eldest sibling with too many responsibilities, equates to love. It wasn't enough to justify it, for me. Majority of the time all the two of them did was breath heavily in each other's faces and eye-fuck. To me, that's not a good showcase of real romantic chemistry. They did have good chemistry, it just wasn't utilized well.
@KC-cd9ld2 жыл бұрын
@@AGEE_95 i didn't necessarily feel the same, there was no clear development or indication of simon wanting her to "be his wife" like he claimed to the queen. in fact, he has proved time and time again he wanted no wife. it was quite contradictory. their friendship was shown properly, but the romantic feelings hardly. not that it's bad that they were friends before. i think their relationship ended up working but it had a lot of flaws that were never addressed. i see what you mean about kate and anthony, but again i disagree. it wasn't just the fact that they had that in common, but the competition and spirit that kate brought out of him. she was the only one seeing through his bs, constantly challenged him so much that it made him question all his motives and goals which was shown very clearly. i personally find that a better explanation for falling in love than "we were friends / liked eachother's company" which is very vague. i totally understand why he fell for her. why kate fell in love with him though wasn't totally explored, but then again neither were daphne's feelings for simon. their marriage was even based on a white lie on simon being dishonest with her about not wanting to have children.

@jaginaiaelectrizs63412 жыл бұрын
It wasn't really either a true triangle or a true impossible-love situation, in my opinion. Because everything keeping them apart was entirely of their own devising, and not even by default of clashing personalities really, especially not whenever they were actually just letting themselves be themselves; like, he absolutely did not have to ever propose to her sister at all, he wasn't betrothed to her sister against his will when they were babies or anything like that-he simply intentionally did that to himself even though he didn't have to, just because he didn't want to ever be with someone he loved because he never wanted to possibly have to live through devastating heartbreak like his mother did. And he wasn't even remotely genuinely pulled in two directions, at all, not even by familial duty because he literally could have chosen anyone to assume the duties of the lady of the family/house; even the younger sister herself didn't really have actual feelings for him, I don't think, so much as she really just had feelings or hopes/dreams for all the things that she imagined might or wanted to build between them in time after marriage(But she never even bothered to ask him if he also had any hope or intention for any of those things to develop between them ever..she just assumed he did simply because he was looking to marry and have babies). But perhaps that was just me. idk. 🤔 🤷♀️ Lol

It was irrational, sure. But feelings often are, especially since it was something he got in his head when he was younger and traumatized by his family's loss. But I was extremely disappointed in Kate that she didn't see how, even if her sister genuinely liked Anthony too, her sister didn't deserve to be with someone who didn't genuinely like or want to be with her too. @@Playsch00l Idk. I can appreciate the lack of sex to build anticipation, but the pacing of that relationship was a glaring problem in this season. It doesn't focus on their romance as much as it should've, and all we really get is very spread out moments of heavy breathing and eye f*cking. They never really get to talk, enough to justify where the connection is coming from. It takes 7 episodes for them to acknowledge what they actually have in common as elder siblings burdened with responsibility. At least Daphne and Simon got to have real conversations before they were constantly having sex. By then their love for each other was earned. It wasn't just brief moments of sexual tension, then all the sudden they're in love. It was more fully realized romantic relationship, grounded in friendship. Had they given Anthony and Kate's relationship more screen time, they could've had that but, it just felt empty by the end. Which is a shame, because it starts off great up until episode 4. Then it slows down way too much and becomes stagnant.

While I do agree that it is true, and has been true [at minimum ]since at least the 1990s to the early-early 2000s, that there is a real problem with fiction conflating lust and love together as if these two things are entirely the same or totally-interchangeable concepts-and/or with depicting sex in fiction all the time, even when it maybe shouldn't be or isn't exactly needed or necessary, instead of ever focusing even more[ if even at all] on the other things or other relationship-elements as well. ....I also don't think that no fictional thing(s) should ever be made which actually want(s) to purposefully focus themself as much or even moreso on the sex &/or lust as it focuses itself on the love and/or other things, nor do I personally think that it is necessarily or always an inherently or automatically BAD thing for anyone to ever actually[ or actually want to] create or watch/read something that does in fact do so either. I think there needs to be more of a mix of different kinds of things being created, for different purposes or with different focuses, rather than all things quite so much always trying to aim for only the same any-particular-kind(s) of thing or "feel" or "vibe" or focus or whatever. ((if any of that even makes any sense???😅🤷♀️🤷♀️😁🤣)) Like, basically ... I think it's true that there should definitely be some things out there like Bridgerton that emphasize more the other things in developing relationships aside from the lust or the sex. But I also think it should still be perfectly okay for there to also be some things out there like Bridgerton that DO focus on showing the sensuality and/or the lust or the sexual things themself or whatever too; *_OR_* even for there to be things like Bridgerton out there that actually have _both_ the other things AND the lusty/sexual things in them as well. But let's also not pretend that there wasn't already a real problem with shallow relationship development in fiction sometimes, even before when it wasn't so typical or common to actually show or even hardly mention sex happening at all, especially in movies &/or tv series; because, there definitely was. ..Unfortunately. 😅😅🙃 Lol🤣 And I think that is, in fact, probably why the relationship development shown in fiction is STILL so shallow, even these days, too...just now there is also sex shown instead as well. Lol (But maybe that's just me 🤷♀️ 😂😂😂 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤣)
@jaginaiaelectrizs63412 жыл бұрын
@@AGEE_95 While I think you have a fair point, here; I also think it is entirely possible for a romance or relationship to develop even without either person being consciously aware that it was happening[ or that it was happening in a specifically romantic way] until it just eventually hits them later on that it actually had, and I do think that is kind of what actually happened with Kate and Anthony. And I think that's totally fine. They talked frequently, they would talk to each other almost more than they would ever even talk to anyone else-that is why Daphne initially mistook Kate for the one her brother was supposedly courting when first meeting her, because they obviously always gravitated toward each other more than to anyone else, while everyone else was kind of somewhat notably ignored or neglected by them in favor of each other. I don't think they really needed to be doing so in an intentionally romantic way for it to actually be developing in a romantic way, especially because it obviously became so anyhow. But the fact that their response to realizing that it was in fact romantic or that it even might be so, was to vehemently deny and/or fight that fact as absolutely much and long as possible until they basically just literally had no other choice nor excuse but to give up and give into it, did I think drag it on sometimes to near-ridiculous proportions and lengths. at the very least especially at certain moments/after a certain point. So, that is still a fair enough complaint, I think. But another thing worth noting I think is that it was impossible for Daphne to be eye-jumping Simon at all, initially, since she didn't even knowing that was a thing which could be done at all. Whereas Kate obviously knew at least that sex existed, and Anthony not only knew about it but also had past experience actually engaging in it. It makes sense for Kate & Anthony's attraction to have quite-believably potentially escalated to that point even faster than it did for Daphne & Simon-either with or without the non-physical relationship development also accompanying it.

The rom-com drought is real!! That’s why I was drawn to k-dramas a few years ago in the first place. They are so good at the “edge of your seat” romance. Like the trope that it takes 8-12 episodes before the main couple gets together and it has you screaming at your tv and then you make a little victory dance when they finally kiss. Bridgerton season 2 was the first western drama in a looong time that made me feel this way. And it was so refreshing. We need more shows where we scream at our tv for the main couple to “kiss already you love each other!!”. For them to then turn away from each other or be interrupted and we scream a painful “COME ON!!”.

How did it ever seem as if they were sending him in that direction? Just because he walked in on something awkward between two other characters? (That happens all the time in stuff without it ever being anything more than fodder for awkwardness and/or a token appearance and/or virtue signaling because the character walking in on it doesn't just like openly condemn them to death for it or whatever.) Honestly, I feel like the whole thing with Collin and Marina and her husband in season 2 vibed much more queer to me personally than anything else on the show; I would probably much rather see that actually explored than see him Penelope end up together for no actual reason except Penelope likes him, especially when he didn't even notice that on his own.😅😅🤣 But that's probably just a me. Lol Completely agree with you about Eloise though! I think it's possibly problematic how so many people always seem to push for every characters who wants to push-back against societal expectations of marriage or proper behavior or clothing-attire or whatever to be queer.😅😅 I mean, I can appreciate people wanting to see more queer characters, but I feel as if that is often a misdirected outlet for it? i kinda have a theory about the disapearance of romcom. Basically i think that in the early 2000's the film industry became obsessed with appealing to the "male gaze". It's no coiencidence that comedies directed by Judd Appatow, wich were basically "bro-coms" and superheros movies were so big during this period (and still are). All of the sudden romcoms were these "silly thing silly women" liked. Even the queens of the genre (Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan, Sandra Bullock for a few years before coming back to it) kinda turned their back to it. But i feel like we are gonna see a rom-com renaissance soon. There's Bridgerton off course, but i also feel like we can't undermine the huge influence of kdramas! As you were saying , people were YEARNING for Rom coms, and for the past few years a ton of people turned to watching korean drama to get their "romance fix". And that's something Hollywood can't keep ignoring anymore (hopefully)

Thinking about it, there haven‘t been too many comedies in general that I have enjoyed in the past years, romantic or not. (Which might also be related to having kind of avoided them, to be honest.) And from what I have seen, many comedies struggle in the second half, when they need to resolve the initial situation in a funny but meaningful, emotionally sincere way.

@wellknown12042 жыл бұрын
yeah, i was so confused when she did not got that part, and it was super clear and understandable for kate to hide that fact from her mom and edwina. Since Edwina would likely marry to whoever english noblemen who offers her marriage proposal without her being in love with him, so she can save her family from financial ruins. As well as how out of touch her mom is of their financial situation after the father died, I think kate took that responsibility, and do not want to burden her mother from it. Kate knew how much the mother pride, and also shameful she would feel to know her parent who she left behind to marry off a lower class men and now crawl back to her parents' wealth. It was important for the storyline to show how much responsibilities and duties that kate is hold, and how similar it is to anthony. After both father died, the eldest siblings took the responsibility as the head of the family.
@alanadoueihi14382 жыл бұрын
@@wellknown1204 right I thought it was obvious- also realistically before Edwina was named the dimond she doesn't have much going for her. Yes she is pretty and agreeable and accomblished but not rich/connected beyond lady Danbury sponsureship for one season. SShe comes from a family who has previously been in a HUGE scandle as well, many men do not want to be associated with that. Her chances due to their finances are slime because it was not just women marrying for money at this time- Men did too! Thats WHY kate pushes her so hard- she knows without money and connections edwina needs to rely on grace and beauty alone. I feel like some much of this story line goes back to Jane Austens tropes around the economics of dating and without that background knowledge of how money and marriage work it is sort of hard for people to understand the full weight of the situation.

Yeah, that's the one criticism that a lot of people seem to have about the books is that they are painfully hetrosexual... And unfortunately it seems like the writers of the show are going to have to stick decently close to the relationships in the books... From what I've heard, it's in the Netflix contract that they have to keep the relationships the same 🤷♀️ so there's not going to be any queer relationships, if that is the case. Because they legally can't do them if they HAVE to keep all the sibling straight... As someone who is in the lgbtq + community, that's just kind of boring to me... to be honest. There are people who have made suggestions as to how they could genderbend Sophie so that Benedict could be the queer rep in the show ( and those suggestions were honestly pretty great and it WOULDN'T change the storyline all that significantly to genderbend Sophie into a man, as their main conflict is a class difference, from what I've seen told.)... But I'm not sure if the Netflix contract would allow for such a change, unfortunately.

India traded in wool silk textiles metal craft like vessels and ornaments objects in gold silver copper steel and iron. British trade policies led to the drain of wealth from India. We're truly in the Dark Ages for rom-coms unfortunately. I think that's one of the reasons why I was so disappointed in season 1, it didn't satisfy any of my needs re: pining, chemistry and building towards a satisfying climax (no pun intended). Season 2 fixed that completely, thank God! I, too, am now obsessed with Kanthony and my personality has been taken over by them for a solid 80 percent. I think the main difference between the two seasons was _when_ the core conflict could be resolved. Simon not wanting children was an issue during the marriage, whereas Anthony's concept of his ideal viscountess / Kate's plans for her sister's and her own future didn't really matter after the wedding. So in S1, Simon and Daphne getting married couldn't have been the climax.

Did she though? According to Simon, he *cannot* have children, so her staying on top shouldn't matter at all. He's experienced and having sex with somebody who knows nothing about sex. It's not set in the 21st century where a woman in England has access to sex education. In their reality, it's his responsibility to educate her on what sex is and how babies are made. Like, he knows before they get together that she knows nothing, doesn't even know how to masturbate let alone how a dick works. He doesn't educate her and he pays the price.

No I totally agree. The real downside of season 2 is that we didn't get MORE of Kate and Anthony. Season 1 was pretty much Daphne and Simon, and while I did like them for the first 5 episodes, when the whole kid drama and then the assault happened, the entire season was ruined for me. I thought they had chemistry, but not like Kate and Anthony, and Kate and Anthony are already much better people overall than Daphne and Simon. But I felt as if often times, Anthony and Kate got a backseat to all the other drama this season! I really loved the high sexual tension scenes we got this season, but I wanted to see more of the casual, friendly, relaxed scenes like the mud scene during the pall-mall game. Like them actually getting along. And I did feel like Edwina's anger was dragged on too long; like why didn't Kate just explain earlier? I would've loved some more time with Kate and Anthony after they married too. Season 2 is almost perfect. It's just enough bodice ripper but just enough period drama. Like not as stuffy or serious or "virtuous" (because let's be honest, people have been having sex forever) without overdoing the sexy stuff. Like the hand scene from P&P 2005, or Mr. Knightley lying on the floor realizing he loved Emma in Emma 2020. That pining, that chemistry, which is both sexual but also sweet and sensual, and a little desperate. Like it's perfect. I know there are some things from the books that they should've kept (I am going to read it and find out what exactly), but the changes so far are not too bad, and it made me super excited to see what we do with the other storylines. Too bad about Pen though. She's not a good person, but I still feel bad for her. I just feel like she has never really had anyone. I mean, what she did to Marina was terrible (low key feel what Eloise got she had coming anyway), but her mother and sisters belittle her, Colin has always overlooked her, and Eloise has now spent 2 seasons talking at her as opposed to with her. Even Marina was not really her friend. I am interested to see how they redeem her, and how the Colin romance is salvageable really. I've been told Kate and Anthony are the cream of the crop when it comes to couples in Bridgerton, with I think maybe Hyacinth's storyline also being up there??

I'm biracial, half white half south Asian. I never really cared that I almost never saw characters who look like me. However, Kate Sharma is very similar to me and I love it! Both externally - her skin is darker than mine, but similar to many women in my family; her blue dresses in the first episodes remind me of the dresses I usually wear on weddings - and internally - I'm also a big sister who loves her little sister, I'm also a "older" single woman. And the jewelry showcased on Bridgeton is very similar to the ones in my family. I still don't need characters to look like me in order to relate to them, but damn it feels great! Now I can't wait to show my grandma this season (it helps that it's less raunchy... 😅).

For me, Kate keeping the Sheffield's inheritance from Edwina and Mary made sense because it showed she was thinking of herself as the head of the family, responsible for "protecting" others in ways that they didn't really want or need. It also meant that when Edwina realized Kate & Anthony were in love she was already doubting Kate's honesty; it gave more weight to her anger. Also I did not watch Bridgerton s1 because of all the spoilers I heard (including from your video), but this one seemed right up my alley! My only issue with season two is that they didn’t address Kate’s PTSD from her mother’s death. She said she hated storms, but they didn’t show her episodes. I’m hoping they explore that in future seasons because I loved a story dealing with PTSD during the regency era. The past which bothered me in the book was how once Kate learns the cause, it’s like an instant cure for her. That’s not how it works. In a series, they can explore the ongoing healing process.

I kind of liked the "complication" of the Sheffields offering a dowry to Edwina for marrying- however the deal was that she had to a NOBLE gentleman, not just any gentleman. That's why Kate was steering Edwina towards men who had noble titles and turning down men who didn't. (And, part of the reason why all the people in London started to think that "if you want to get with Edwina, you have to go through Kate".) While Kate also had a high priority on Edwina finding someone who made her happy, too. While I do think that Kate should have been honest about the whole dowry for a noble title plot with the relatives, I also can understand why she didn't want to tell. She still wanted Edwina to find someone who made her happy among the pool of noble dudes who liked her, rather than saying yes to the first person who might have been willing to ask her. Especially, she didn't want Edwina to go for some fortune hunter who could have traded her a noble title for her dowry money and end up with no one actually being happy.

I like that it doesn't stick to the script of black/coloured people being severely oppressed. Loved that they casted a darker skinned Indian for this! So much of South Asian/ Indian representation is often by lighter skinned females. The gold jewellery suited Kate so so much and she overall was great!

the lead actors are truly amazing, they got me to CRY (more like sob tbh) in a scene with a classical rendition on WRECKING BALL playing. Now that is true talent.

I enjoyed last season, but I felt season 2 had far more believable chemistry. While Anthony and Kate were presented as the “enemies to lovers” couple, I just found Simon and Daphne to be far more combative. Also, whereas Anthony and Kate share hobbies and interests, Daphne and Simon didn’t seem to have a lot to do with each other outside of their sexual relationship.

Love the video! Perceptions naturally change over time. When the BBC Pride and Prejudice came out in 1995, it was viewed as a fresh and modern take on period drama. It was the first time period families had been shown to behave like actual families, e.g. Lydia and Kitty talking/screeching over each constantly. It was also the first Austin adaptation to show the male characters alone or interacting with each other without females around. Austin famously wrote what she knew, but this production was quite radical, in that it showed what Darcy got up to on his own. The infamous lake scene is remembered for its sexiness, but it was also a delightful shock to see a period male lead be embarrassed and less than stoically perfect at the time. You can draw a direct line from that whole sequence to Mr Knightley's collapse on the floor in 2020's Emma. I'm sure in another twenty years, people will view Bridgeton as old fashioned (probably due to its lack of queer romance).

Season 2 was everything i would’ve wanted season 1 to be!! And it really makes me hope they get a southeast asian LI for a later season so we can get more of these beautiful patterns.

this season literally rewired my brain for the better and temporarily brought me back to my fangirling teenage self. there wasn't one episode this season where i didn't audibly scream bc of the tension between anthony and kate. everything about it was so perfect.

When Anthony went on that monologue about how Kate is the bane of his existence I tell you I was quivering ✨ considering I absolutely hated season 1

Now, that last quote hit me hard. I am from Ukraine, and I literally sometimes watched Bridgerton sitting in a bomb shelter. The possibility to escape the reality and switch to facing ‘normal’ human problems and dilemmas together with characters, was something that helped me get through the darkest hours. We need more of shows like that! Colorful, easy, witty, funny, with a bit of a drama, but nothing irreversible. I am struggling to find something like the Bridgerton series on Netflix - everything seems either gray or too depressing and serious..

The way you described having that fan girl feeling again was exactly how I felt while watching! I was literally going feral with the gazing looks and the hand holding scenes.

I can also call myself a Bridgeton fan now. The chemistry between Kate and Anthony was fire. 🔥 Also, I’m a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope. I wasn’t about to watch this season because I didn’t like season one at all, but I’m glad I did because it was more enjoyable. For the lack of romance in tv shows, I will say Korean dramas with romance fill my void.

Jonathan Bailey's acting really impressed me this season. I love Eloise's feminist storyline and the beautiful Southeast Asia representation as well, but for some reason his acting/charisma is what stuck with me the most.

Kate is perfect from head to toes. Her perfect complexion, silky smooth skin and voice, those eyes, the development of being grumpy for believing she is not meant to be loved to letting love make her a unique viscountess. ❤️❤️❤️

YES THE SECOND SEASON IS MY MFKIN BREAD AND BUTTER. Also the meaning of seeing another Indian AND South Indian woman in a storyline I never thought possible for pretty gals that look like me- omg I can’t explain the happiness I get from this

What does it mean exactly to you ? Im very curious. I don’t understand what joy you can feel by seeing indian women in a regency period england ? Its not like south asian movies or actors are anything rare ?
@Artemisnr2 жыл бұрын
@@Chrysobubulleit’s not often seen in western films. Listen I like my fair share of Bollywood movies but that’s not what the society I live in is used to or raised by also I mostly watch western media cuz I mean I’m born and raised EAST COAST BABYYYY🤩🐉ALSO esp a darker South Indian woman?! Are u kidding?! Even in India they need more representation my guy!!

@@Artemisnr i agree on the need to represent more darker skin women, but i feel UK fictions are portraying many south asian characters already. Im not a brit myself but almost every british show i see has one or several actors of south asian descent in it. I mean i get the whole escapist stuff of Bridgerton, its not supposed to be historically faithfull in any way, but i never understood this « im so happy to be representented » stuff. Im gay, and i can enjoy shows without gay people in it (thank god 😅😂). Plus sometimes gay characters are just awefully written so sometimes its almost better NOT to be represented 😂 But i mean i dont feel excluded if i see a movie where there aren’t gay people. Because there are others where they are present ? I hope you understand what i mean, i dont mean it as a criticism or anything, im just curious for a long time about this and seeing your comment made me want to ask 😊
@Artemisnr2 жыл бұрын
@@Chrysobubulle that’s fine! I like when ppl ask when they are curious and want to learn other view points. It’s rare to see on the internet it feels like. Yes this is very true but seeing someone that looks like me in a lead romantic role is not a prevalent thing. Same for many black women. Still not a lot of lead black women in rom coms. Well the whole genre is a lil lacking even in mainstream rep of the lgbt community. I mean we got love Simon but I need more and more poc gays

I am glad that they took the critique from the first season about it being a little too color/culture blind and actually acknowledged the Sharma sisters' ethnicity in this one. I hope that there is another Black British romantic lead in future seasons and they get better rep! Also, about the whole Penelope-Lady Whistledown thing, I think they were just worried that the surprise would be prematurely ruined by fans of the book series.
@AnxietyRat Жыл бұрын
As per the whistledown stuff that is exactly the fear that the writers had. With the books the surprise could be kept as the books were coming out. It gets revealed in the fourth book, from what the author of the books has said in interviews. But they knew that they couldn't keep it a secret for the show. Because once season one was over someone could just Google the answer 🤷♀️ because the answer is super readily available on the internet. So they decided to not keep it a secret past the end of season 1. So there was an actual legit writing reason for them revealing the secret identity WAY sooner than it was in the source material. A lot of book readers didn't like it... But there was an actual reason for them doing it this way.

I disagree, I think in season 2 episode 1 Anthony’s character is still very similar to season 1. During season 1 he worked so hard to get Daphne a husband for familial duty. He always felt the stress of being the head of the family and blew off steam by being a playboy. Even when he first meets Kate he was returning from an encounter. He always knew it was his obligation to marry and I think after Sienna, he decides to find his bride. His character just grows immensely during the second season’s run.
