Yes I own two EVs and have done so for two years. What determines an EV ownership success is has the owner a assigned parking space with access to power.l Given the popularity of apartments in Moscow is that possible?. What is the situation with public chargers over there? Lots of factors. Still fair play for getting into the game.

@@YuTv1408oh my dear, as interesting as it is, it's not remotely in comparison to Tesla or the work of Elon! Many 'brands' have electric, that doesn't make them equal. Elon Musk is in a league all of his own. This isn't even close, very few are. Tesla has very few, if any, are true competitions/comparisons and this certainly is not one of them. That's like comparing a VW bug to a Pourshe or BMW, and even that isn't a true comparison!! Saying they are very similar.. not even close!! Bless your heart..LOL

At first it was Moskvich, only Russian parts, assembly, etc. In the 90s, a model was produced for a short time in conjunction with Renault. But all parts were produced in this factory. Then the plant did not work, the equipment was sold to China, Iran, Korea, Slovakia... Now they assemble cars on a Chinese platform. The degree of localization of production depends on the volume of sales. If the car gains popularity, all units will be produced in Russia. Now (as I heard) no more than 30% of the parts are made, the rest is imported as car kits for assembly from China.

It’s only when Russian products are made in China is the problem. Russell, first, you have the kindest voice and your laugh is a joy to hear. Every time you laugh I find myself smiling! I was showing my hubby part of the video and noticed, he also would smile when you laughed. He wants to watch it when I am finished! Not something he wants to do often. Your kind heart shines in your voice and laughter, something that is so needed all over the world!! Just a pleasure! Such a nice thing to hear and not a sound we hear much in today's world! It's like hanging out with a good friend, having a cup of coffee and a great conversation. You're so personable and just a pleasure to watch and listen and learn from. Nothing is better than spending time talking to a friend, that is what all your videos are like. This video is fascinating. VERY well done, Interesting and informative. It's amazing how far technology has come. It shocked me how fast they roll off the line, I think you said every 8 minutes. Wow!! I'm also going to have my 11 year old Son watch this, he will love it. You always do such great, fun and educational videos and this one was icing on the cake. It says a lot for My Hubby to want to watch it when I am done😊 I think the most interesting for ME was installing the engine. I would have thought it would have been installed from the top, and to see it mounted, the floorboards attached, everything already in place just lifted up and attached was amazing to see. Super educational!! Very interesting ! Thank you, my friend, for taking us along with you!! This was great! Job well done!!

@@silveriorebelo2920 The final assembly is made in Russia, it’s a lie if you say, it’s manufactured, it’s only ended! This happens in the old Renault factory, and the number of sold cars is BAD, till february they sold only 40 cars, because the same car JAC costs the half price and chinese cars don’t have a good reliable fame! The new electrical version will be sold more often, but it’s still made with the chinese technic and many imported pieces…because Russia isn’t able for that high technology and not will be in the next years!!

When working on a construction project in Africa, the only local vehicles we could by to supplement our allocation of Land Rovers were Soviet era Lada Nivas. Utilitarian, cheaply built and literally a Fiat 127 body on a GAZ type platform, these vehicles performed superbly. They cost little, spare parts were cheap and a multitude of general parts from other brands could be used on them. The African terrain was tough on any vehicle but the Lada coped with it all. Another contractor was amazed when my Lada pulled his Toyota 4Runner out of a deep mud bath on a dirt road where a Land Rover failed.

that's exactly what i asked myself. why didn't the russians ever invested in the car industry? they always had enough know how and engineers, considering what they managed in aerospace or the weapons industry, it would have been no problem for them to build up at least a solid car industry. due to the sanctions, they will probably build up a solid car industry for their purposes in the next 10 years with a little help from the chinese, maybe they will even go one step further and only build electric cars, because they have more than enough natural resources. 🤷‍♂

I've been in love with the Lada Niva for years. I have tried to find one here in the US, but they are harder to find than teeth on a chicken. I have come to the conclusion that if I want one, I'm going to have to move to Russia! Those Moskovich is a pretty good looking car. I don't think you can find a new car for sale in the US for a bit more than 20 grand anymore. I remember when the Yugo was sold in the states. In high school, there was an apartment complex where one was parked, and I think it still ran and was used. But I haven't seen one of those for years. Very interesting video Russell. I have always found car manufacturing fascinating. With the exception of golf carts, I have not driven an electric car. I honestly do not have faith in electric cars just yet. Give me a diesel or gasoline car any day. Russell, may I suggest in the future you can do a video of jobs a foreigner or expat can get in Russia. I always wondered if I would be able to work at an airport. Maybe my native English would be of use.

@@robb_stepanovich I did not know Chevrolet made a Niva. I do know the model number 2123, but from Lada. I saw a 1981 Niva 1600 for sale here in the US, the price was $12,000. It was in very good condition, but $12,000?

Great tour. I drove an old Mosquich long long time ago and this is an amassing transformation. Just a quick explanation on the name. So Mосквич = Мosquich, but there is no "O" pronancuation between Mosq and uich, but just Mosquich. 😎 Also, I think the price comparison is missing. Anyway, the price of 3,500,000 Rublei = 34,463.93 Eur. Cheers
