I was always under the impression that themed cafes are miniature theme parks without the actual theme park lol. You mainly go to the cafe as a sort of "attraction". Though I do agree that calling them a "cafe" is not the aptest way to describe them since that's the thing that raise your expectations on the food more than anything lol but I guess there's just no other simpler way to call them than "themed cafe".

@@soupy_soup2 I mean, you'd THINK so, but it seems to be a theme with a lot of themed restaurants, cafes, etc. It tends to rely like way more on selling the theme than making the food taste good and people still usually go because of the novelty.

For any tourists who wants to attend one of these collab cafes, please write down your English name in the registration even if they ask for a Japanese one. My girlfriend made a reservation with a Japanese version of her name and the staff informed us that officially, they require the registered name to be the same as your identification (passport) just to allow you to enter but they turned a blind eye in our case since we didn't know. We went to the Ouran High School Host Club collab cafe! I was soooo tempted to get that tea cup as well but due to it being a pre-order and shipping it back to our country would be exorbitant! Overall the merch and drinks were great but the food was meh. We also ordered the burger and curry rice and Emirichu is 100% right that the burger was not good hahaha!

These are such a great little look into the verity of quality at these little cafes. It's helping me learn what to look out for (like who's the restaurant collaborator) when trying to book an experience!

It means a lot to us that you're willing to commit to ordering a lot and trying as much as you can from these cafes in order to give us a review ❤️ I will say this video has taught me to order my main meal from an actual restaurant before heading to a cafe for drinks & dessert.

I’m very glad the FFXIV cafe was good, I’m a big fan of the game and the fact that they put a good amount of effort into that cafe makes me feel validated as one of their fans

22:34 Well, with sour+milk or sour+bread you often have to be very careful, as acids separate out the casein from milk and sour+bread smells and tastes like someone already had eaten it and thrown it up again (because the stomach also is filled with acid).

When you’ve collected enough “data” on the cafes I think we need your expert opinion on how to pick a good one. I’d be interested in going to one in Japan for the experience, but probably wouldn’t be interested in any specific collab.

i went to kirby cafe (the fukuoka branch is easy to get in, unlike emily’s experience with the tokyo branch) and they offer a free birthday service! it’s so cute and i absolutely love the afternoon tea set (altho it’s really expensive LOL) the takeout menu is half-sed food tho but you might want to try the permanent, general cafe like pokemon/sanrio ones

I love that you show a niche side of Japanese culture, even going to the small collaboration and share that. Very comfy video! 10/10.

I love watching these videos, and the one thing I have to say this time is I wish I was into Final Fantasy XIV when I went to Japan last before the pandemic because now I would LOVE to go to it. Also, I'm pretty sure the Square Enix Cafe that did FMA in your video did a Chrono Cross cafe when they re-released the game last year, and I was SO SAD that I was not able to go. The composer for the Chrono series did live music at the cafe as well, and that would have been my dream. The one thing I hate about partially following the collab cafes is seeing these once in a lifetime chances just gone because Japan wasn't open at the time.

I'm so glad she has an adventure friend. Shout out too all those friends who r just down to hang out no matter how far.
Fun fact: The pictures on the coasters at the Fruits Basket cafe are the art created for the covers of the Collectors Addition manga!

So far it looks like video game themed cafes are generally better than anime themed. Hopefully there will be more video game ones!

I love this so much! I appreciate how honest you are with taste and price of the food, I would imagine a lot of people just end up fangirling over the merch and atmosphere they end up not caring too much about the actual taste quality of the food. Glad to see your art collection re-growing and we would love to see another apartment/room tour once your walls are full again!

These have been wonderful videos to watch. The FMA, FFXIV, Genshin Impact, SpyXFamily had a lot of interesting menu items, etc. Looking forward to seeing where you go for the 3rd Colab Cafe video. Hopefully you feel better. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for visiting all of these collab cafes that many can't experience for one reason or another!! It's so fun to be able to see the various ways places try to bring manga/anime/video game themes into the real world, especially with food stuffs! And absolutely adore the journal spreads you shared!!

I wonder if Emily had someone play the music for this video bc it's all in the light twinkly instrument but such a variety of opening songs. I love these little touches on her channel.

XD DWARF! I remembered the running gags of people calling Ed short, and he goes on a rant saying things like "WHO'RE YOU CALLING SO SHORT, YOU HAVE TO LOOK THROUGH A MICROSCOPE TO SEE ME!?", just straight up P*SSED about being called short! And the fact the pop up diner kept the theme of Al hiding cats in his suit of armor... Adorable and genius! Also, if I had the "Bad Coffee", it probably wouldn't effect me. I've had different brands of coffee, including the non-brand name coffee, so coffee's coffee to me. But having coffee grounds in your cup of coffee, no matter how careful you make it or how the staff makes it, THAT'S the "Bad Coffee" I know!

This makes me so tempted to make my own anime cafe someday. All the designs and food are so adorable I really wonder how they would taste like but the way Emily described it I can tell it's really good(specifically the ones that she said that are good) I enjoyed your café adventures very much! Hope to see more soon

Goes to Berserk Cafe: "That thing was too big to be called an appetizer. Too big, too thick, too heavy, and too rough, it was more like a large hunk of meat." Also, I felt that for the Fruits Basket one. Modern philosophers call it a "Big Oof".
