Would you guys stay here? I’m on the fence! It was great fun, but the doors really changed my opinion 😬 ALSO about the doors! This is how we didn’t notice about the lock: Every time we left the room before, we called to book things like the bath or the leisure space, or going to the lobby, so they unlocked the door and we didn’t realise. Then they told us to call from the phone in the hallway to be let back in, which seemed ok. But then trying to open the door for Sarah and it being locked from the inside too made us realise, and we called to confirm and they said yes call us every time you want to leave or enter your room. Hope that makes sense!

@@davidbee7394 every other hotel has do not disturb signs. They could have made some dinosaur themed do not disturb sign that said something like "do not enter, excavation in progress" and that would also be a good pun for a love hotel.

Y'know what, at least they didn't half-ass it. They had an idea and full sent it. I can't even imagine how much all of those animatronics/live aquariums/hallway short-throw projectors cost (a ridable raptor in your room!). And if you don't mind the decor, the room seems to have a lot of amenities, like a sauna booth, lie-down shower along with the big jacuzzi type bath, and the massage chair. Not even mentioning the rides, arcade games, onsen, and free and discounted food!

I’ve been here, the lock that auto locks is at the top of the door and you can break a plastic shield over it to manually unlock it. It even says ‘in case of emergencies, smash this cover and unlock the door’. That said it was an unpleasant surprise to have to be let out like a toddler 🙄
@FuryousD

@arcticblue2
@arcticblue2 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, every love hotel I've been to has had the auto-locking doors. Very annoying especially since now some love hotels are trying to market themselves as normal hotels and attract visitors. The only one I've been to that didn't auto lock was because the place was pretty run down and the door was literally broken. In case of a fire or something, the doors are supposed to automatically unlock. There may also be an emergency button somewhere in the room that will unlock the door. Still seems like a huge fire safety risk though. Fire safety is something Japan doesn't really seem to consider all too seriously - every single Don Quijote I've been to is also a disaster waiting to happen and the convenience stores with swinging doors that open inward to store also seems unsafe (if you have a crowd of people all trying to leave in a panic, it can become difficult or impossible to pull the doors open to leave due to everyone cramming near the door)
@FuryousD
@FuryousD 2 жыл бұрын

@@Eidlones i mean any normal person wouldn't leave without paying, and as I said if u want privacy u lock the door yourself. If its a private hotel then people who shouldn't be there shouldn't be there ie paparazzi so there shouldn't be any worry of bumping into someone else who isn't in the same situation as u ie wanting privacy.
@Eidlones
@Eidlones Жыл бұрын
@FuryousD Well, "to keep people from not paying" is stated as one of the main reasons why they do it, so, I assume it's been an issue before. Especially considering the quick in and out nature of the place. The privacy isn't about people walking into your room. Japan is a very closed off society in terms of personal things. It's not about paparazzi, it's about people knowing that you're there. That's why they have private car parks for love hotels, and even plates that go over your license plate to maintain anonymity. The ideal is that no one knows you were ever there, regardless of who you are. Despite how brazen they are with decorations what such, they're still considered very taboo in Japan.

I'd be interested to hear a response from the hotel chain on the door-locking thing, if you wanted to reach out to them either "as a member" or as a reviewer. At a bare minimum I'd hope it'd be like office pass-card security, where where they fail unlocked if the power goes out or an alarm is tripped, but I'd also be hard-pressed to imagine a situation that warrants having to call out to leave the room under any circumstances (get back in, sure, but leave?) so I'm not going to trust them to have thought about failing safe.

It's to allow then to track who is coming and leaving the room. Love hotels in urban areas are pretty much where prostitutes ply their trade, and given the anonymity of love hotels and the nature of the folks who run prostitution orgs, there's a lot of potential for security concerns. Of course, the door situation creates a separate sort of concern, but the way people in Japan think about the situation, it seems like they're generally ok with that tradeoff. (oh, I shouldn't understate the fact that they don't want people letting a ton of people into the room to rip off the hotel either - that's no small factor.)

Japan certainly has endless adventures and discoveries. And Emma, Sarah and all the TC staff really bring them out and present them with panache.

I mean the meaning by the locked doors is most likely for you to not run into the straff or other people whom are staying at the hotells since its a discreet place. If there was an emergency they would prob unlock all doors at the same time.
