This Cultures is understand by enlightened African or Black the name impose on us. This is our Culture, that tell our experience and way of life long before European and Arab invading of our great Continent. We understand the forces of life, the energy of Earth and nature. We understand we are part of nature, and we balance we nature. People in the west do not understand this. Is logic to say is demonic to them. Remember Civilization is not structural engineering, understanding the forces of nature, that you cannot see but manifest is also Civilization.

Let me explain for those who are upset about the chicken getting sacrificed. The reason is beccause its one way for that spirit they work with to be manifested. Its energy. The chicken is prayed over before the sacrifice out of respect for its life. Also no one enjoys killing the animal but its what must be done in order to appease the energy they work with so the work can be done. Oh and yeah I'm vegan so it makes me squeamish too. But I understand why it must be done therefore respect must be given.
@LickeyWebster5 жыл бұрын
Awesome Comment. I'm nearing the end of the Wade Davis book from 1985 - "The Serpent and the Rainbow". He goes into detail about many aspects of Haitian culture, including a segment pertaining to the use of live animals - chickens specifically. It should not be a surprise to anyone that the relationship between animals and plants in indigenous/third-world cultures is a bit different than that of the west.

Also I've noticed how most of these people calling the faith some rather nasty things happen to be christian, I'm christian too, the bible never said anything about destroying others beliefs so I'd like to politely tell these trolls to not,,, be insensitive, I may have strayed away from the original point of this comment, but please respect others belief.

The person will say they're protestant... Because they might tell you they're sick" I honestly don't know why they cut the last section up like that... The subs are way off and don't even keep to the main idea of what the priest is saying ._. Voodoo is just like any other religion, I just hate it being shifted to "they're doing this because they're poor and everything is terrible in Haiti." If you truly do believe that go to Haiti and you'll see that it isn't all poverty and struggling. There are people that are able to make a living and live normal lives. It's like if someone makes a documentary about America and focuses on the most religious and poverty-stricken areas.
