To be dressed in an Italian style has a lot to do with a mindset, it’s not just about a brand. Boys are brought up with the topic of attire, in other cultures it’s regarded as a feminine topic. What I love is the combination of perfect craftsmanship and serenity in the look. Men’s fashion is very often not an armour, but underlines the humour, a reluctant sensuality and never looses to be the background for a dazzling lady. For me tailoring of Cesare Attolini is immaculate perfection and men’s fashion of Giorgio Armani is a wonderful example to have a modest attire that is not boring. When I was in my 20ies, I loved the baroque patterned jeans of Gianni Versace combined with a monochromatic shirt, tanktop or vest. This kind of sexiness is not appropriate anymore at the age of 55, but it looked quite cool.

I'm from Milano, born and raised, Perhaps I can tell you about why we like to dress up but not be seen on camera: we like to be seen, but we like to chose who, when and where we are seen. we like attention, but not too much spotlight. People from other parts of Italy can be very different.

Probably you're right injust mentioned my experience after few days there :) but still most people are wearing jeans and t-shirts

@@EnduringAttireof course Summer is very hot and humid, you dress classy only if required or you know you won’t be in the sun too long.

@@djsangre In Milano there was a great blend of folks -Celts ,Romans, Raetians(etruscans) a little Ligurians and a little german Langobards. The today's dwellers of Milano are offsprings of this amazing blend of peoples and from it stems this so spell-binding tastefulness in everything. And where there are private houses having gardens with gorgeous chimalayan cedars and umbrella pines the feel is heavenly to be there !!! I deem Milano the loveliest town on the Earth !!!

As an English man, I’d say we feel less comfortable taking risks with colour and style. Italians are more daring… the English are also too worried about being judged for ‘trying too hard’… the Italians have mastered the nuance of adding a little bit of fare without going too far. The English haven’t got ‘sprezzatura’ but Italians have it, almost instinctively.

Another great video. Well done on the interviews. The gentleman in the orange sport coat looked great. He is wearing a classic piece, 50 years old, his father wore. Amazing. The man who said he sold men’s clothing for 10 years, shared great advice. Your first jacket should be a blazer, single or double breasted.

I think Italians are really good at experimenting with different fun colors. Here in Stockholm I think people dress pretty well, but it is a lot of blue, grey and black.

People follow the weather and climate to dress. In the UK, grey, blue and brown are the dominant colors for mens garments.

What is a fact and is characteristic of Italians in general, is that wherever you go, whether in big cities or smaller ones, you will see equally well-dressed and well-groomed people. That's why they stand out from the others.

The chap that spoke about the Loden coat being Milanese is a little out, it's more of a Tyrolean fabric and was widely adopted in Northern Europe. But he's hinted at one thing that's never mentioned - Milan is one of the most temperate European cities so a gentleman's wardrobe is significantly different to one in London, Paris, Stockholm, New York. It has to accommodate far less inclement weather and for shorter times. Do a video in Milan when it's cold and raining to see what they wear then. If you judge that "dress better" means an endless display of unstructured jackets, soft collars, loafers, informality and so many people wanting to be different that they all look similar, then Milan on a good day probably is the place. If you want perfectly fitting sober suits, shirts that are crisp and smart, a tie done up in a knot that works with the outfit, (not just a slack four-in-hand with a knitted loose tie as an afterthought hiding behind the guise of Sprezzatura), a quality pair of socks (remember those Milan?) then London & New York are dressed better. However I agree that there are fewer and fewer (men especially) making a concerted effort to dress in a stylish way now. Casualwear and corporate branding have taken over. I admire those that make the effort, wherever they are. Fathers need to guide their sons, the first visit to a tailor used to be a rite of passage for a young man that's gone now.

I think the weather has a lot to do with the way people dress. Wearing bright and fruity colors under a shiny sun is more appealing than under a cloudy rainy sky. Weather also has an impact on people's behavior and mood, reason why you'll see more smiling faces during the summer in comparison with during a cold winter. The best style in my opinion is the one that fits the occasion. It might not fit the mood, but if it fits the occasion very well then we can consider the person is well dressed. That was my personal opinion.

No is not, you can find a lot of style , but youger people are not dressed up . I ll try to explain, most of the “style” you’ll find are like streetwear, workwear , for the younger , and yes if you work for the public you will probably wear a good blazer , the thing that you’ll notice about our Italian is the fact that we don’t put random Clothes on even if we are taking out the garbage , we are always aware of what we wear.

I love the way Italians dress. They have a way of making themselves look better by dressing well, as opposed to dragging attention towards their clothes. The people in this video are not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the more average Italian.
@Laurelin7017 күн бұрын
That's not how "italian men" dress, that's how "a specific demographic of italian men" dress, i.e. over 30 middle-upper or upper class in Milan with a good job in services, sales and trade, or even in fashion industry, high or very high level education (university degree at least) from wealthy families or else with a good deal of money, in a day or an hour when they're clearly not working (if it is a working day, then they're not working full time). So maybe... 0,001% of italian men? Go in other streets than the fashion districts, go in other cities than Milan, interview other age ranges than over 40, go into grocery markets and shop, go in blue collar neighborhoods, go in front of postal offices or peripheral schools... That could give you the REAL taste of what italian men wear.
