The kids were sat??? I legit went to a Mario movie and the kids would NOT sit still. I had to leave early because a kid behind me kept kicking his seat so hearing that is pretty shocking 😂

Oh that sounds like the worst! But yeah, there were a bunch of kids in the theatre and I totally forgot they were there, they were so well behaved and the whole crowd was consistently engaged by the movie. But it was also a smaller crowd, when I see this movie during the regular release I’ll probably try for a later screening to avoid the risk of having my chair kicked 😅

Thank you for watching!! Yes, the coral pillars we see in the trailer serve as Triton’s palace :) I kind of missed the spectacle of the gold palace, but Triton’s kingdom is a lot more intimate in this movie so I understand the change and felt like it worked

i saw the movie. i love how they did the familiar scenes. halle as ariel was perfection. jonah hauer kings performance gave depth to his character. i say his character was well developed, and the story didnt just focus solely on ariel as it was in the original. loved it. flounder kinda sank to the sides which was sad. melissas ursula - jaw droppingly good! overall vibe of the kingdom was so joyous and colorful and festive. very disney. as for the twist near the end, ima bit on the fence about it. made me cringe a lil bit. the ending was ok, very 2023. the new songs didnt make sense for me when i heard it here on yt. but when you watch them in the scenes where theyre supposed to be, they make sense. also theres a little easter egg with the carriage scene that was SO SIMILAR with cinderella 2015. look for it. overall its a whole different vibe from the original which is good.

Soooo let me guess......To honor the original story, Ariel and Eric don't end up married. But she won't die, just be able to be happy with knowing each other? I am happy to watch your excitement about the move, but I think this is one I am just going to wait on. I had been really excited about it on Broadway and while it was good, some of the changes to me missed a "wow factor" of Disney stage magic. No Vanesa or Ursula getting big. BUT there were sides to Ariel and Eric in that telling that were really sweet.

The live action"The Lion King"(2019) was definitely shot by shot.I would prefer 3D non-photo realistic CGI. A more modified cartoon look would have been more appropriate since this is a fairy tale/fantasy movie. Photo realistic CGI animals singing and dancing looks too weird for me because in real life these creatures don't sing and dance. Maybe they did some 3D CGI cartoon animation test and compared it with testing of photo realistic 3D CGI and determined that the latter looked better.

It definitely has its dark moments, and it’s a personal preference but I loved them, however there are also a ton of bright, vibrant and beautifully colourful moments that they haven’t really shown us in the trailers. Under the Sea is gorgeous, and there’s a dance sequence in Eric’s kingdom that is full of life 🤩

I have been very skeptical after Into the Woods with giving Rob Marshall any more of my money, he had a awesome hit with Chicago but let Disney screw over Into the Woods and destroyed what Sandhime and Lapin created which woprkled, I don't care that they had the same fairy tale characters, Repunzil should have died like in the play, and he shouldn't have cut out the entire second act or the narrator. So I've been very worried about little mermaid, and I don't care if she is black or not she has a Great voice, and her acting seems to be on point with the character. My problem has been with them telling us about the changes and how much this movie is better than the older one due to girl boss she doesnt need the prince cause its about her journey not her being in love, which her journey to the land has always been to the for front of the story not the prince. And so if they had not talked so much I feel the back lash they have been receiving for this film thus far would not have happened. But if your saying that Rob Marshall did a good job and a respectful job with this then I will give it a chance.

For context, ‘Into the Woods’ is my all time favourite musical and the movie was…a choice. Rob Marshall made some choices I didn’t agree with, paired with inevitable studio interference, and I was impressed they were able to pull off as much of act two as they did considering it was a Disney movie and so many characters died…but yeah, it doesn’t come close to the original. But that’s a conversation for another day, I could go on for hours about that movie 😅 I think the hype surrounding the story rewrites has been blown out of proportion, it still feels like the same story and Ariel still feels like the same Ariel but the movie just has that extra time to dive into why she wants to leave the ocean: Eric is still the catalyst, but it’s not *just* about Eric. I was worried they would go the same route they went with Belle when they made her an inventor, which felt shoehorned in and didn’t really benefit the story in any new or exciting way, but I feel this take on Ariel stays true to the original character and just builds on it in a way that feels right and natural. And she doesn’t invent a washing machine.

Nah, Eric still saves her the way he does in the animated film by going underwater and throwing a spear at Ursula, which distracts her long enough for Ariel to escape. Ariel *does* utilize a ship at the end but she doesn’t steer it with any skill, she just redirects it using the wheel.

How can you say Sebastian looks okay? The side kicks are probably the worst remade characters in the movie, especially Sebastian and poor Flounder... The sweet characterisation of those beloved sea creatures is gone... Without mentioning Scuttle that has gone from male to female, chained to a new song that sounds effing cringe to say the least. Halle is who saves the movie... And I only have hope in her poised adorable personality, talent and beauty. Other than that, sorry but not even Ursula delivers. The movie is too iconic for a remake, one of the most influencial from the second Disney renaissance. Some things should be left untouched, Disney must leave the classics in a corner and create new beautiful 2d stories with a villain, morals and a good plot. And they won't and that's why other animation studios nowadays are successful.

lol I grew up watching this movie everyday after school so much so that my mom had to buy three dvds and to this day it’s I’m the only dvd I have left, so safe to say I am beyond excited to watch the live action. It takes nothing away from the original and they both can exist, idk what’s wrong with some of you. Children, including me got joy from the old one and I’m beyond excited for this one and other kids get to relate to her this time around too. What Is the issue?
