Opinion piece...unless you folks get on the unicycle band wagon alot of peeps (like me transition to unicycles for safety im 50) as far to many cut out crashes on my nose diving XR but not one on my unicycle...yet. If you folks bring your build quality to unicycles you can dominate but if not like Facebook...youll face META. Best of luck so get on that unicycle wagon ASAP becasue once they make a platfrom for the unicycle to be ridden like a one wheel you folks will be really far back...and its already here too. Late

I have been a fan of Jimmy’s channel for years and the one video that got me to watch his first episode was when he first got an EUC. I had already been riding an EUC for years before then and would not consider even a OW. Jimmy’s OneWheel episodes got me interested in the OWs and I honestly would have gotten one by now but the frequent FB posts on cutouts due to overtorquing or overspeeding just turned me off. I have already ridden several OWs of my friends and they are certainly lots of fun. If FM ever did make a faster and more powerful OW ( which would increase the safety margin for a power cutout), I certainly would be one of the first in line to purchase one.

Hey Jimmy, I am finally getting back into riding my XR again. It’s been a year and a half since my injury and I only rode it a few times just after it happened. It’s been 3 months since my 1 year of recovery after the surgery. I basically stayed away from all channels I watched because I knew that I would go out and ride and take a chance of injuring myself again before I was totally healed. But it’s time, it’s beyond time for me to get back on it. I love riding so much but now I have to start all over as far as getting my endurance and the foot and leg fatigue that initially happens when you first start riding a onewheel. I’m going to start small and slowly build into it again. Before my injury I only met one guy that also rode in my area. But I could see on the app where other people show their rides. But I’ve seen many people now riding onewheels and EUC’s since I haven’t been riding while I was healing. Unfortunately my Pint was stolen by a former fellow employee. But thank heavens I still have my XR. It’s good to hear that you actually got to go talk with them about onewheel issues. Because of you I got into riding the onewheel. I’ll be very glad to get back into riding it everyday once my endurance is back up to par.

Was your injury caused by one wheel riding?
@OcculiMortis Жыл бұрын
@@jayphive2468 yes it was. It was a freak accident that happened at just the right time at the right spot in a situation that I found myself suddenly in. I traumatically ripped my top rotator cuff off the bone, partially tore a bicep muscle, and had a tear in my labrum. I believe I know now why the nosedive happened at a whole whopping 5 mph. In fact I just started riding my XR again this week.

Love your question about the right to repair and the fact you used Australia as an example because that is where I am. And recently I had an issue with my Pint X and honestly I was ready to face some headache but it was awesome how FM treated my case. They were extremely supportive and attentive. The problem was fixed as quick as possible. I do thank Mark from FM for being so kind and patient. Of course if we had a repair centre here in Australia it would be faster and cheaper but I need to say that the service provided in my case was excellent.

@wizrom30462 жыл бұрын
You said you bought a GT now because they "fixed the issues"... Sorry Jimmy they have NOT fixed the issues. It still has tamper bricking where the board bricks itself if you unplug things. It still has serial number locking where you can't swap a battery or controller between two GTs, and it still has their immoral "anti right to repair" issue where you cannot buy spare parts to fix your own property. For people like myself who live on the other side of the planet from their only repair center in California, those things are all unforgivable. The Future Motion company is causing massive harm to their reputation by refusing to listen to their customers needs and forcing customers to mail their board all the way back to California if there is a problem. DIY onewheels are already getting better performance than the FM onewheels, the company is on shaky ground unless they PROPERLY fix these issues... 👎
@freshlycharged2 жыл бұрын
The issues you speak of are real, but the GT problems I focused on were fixable issues inherent to the Onewheel GT. The other issues are much larger systems, legal and business problems that are much larger than the Onewheel. @@User_92020 ... that's fair, FM are allowed to promote their product with free samples like any other company. And content produces accept free samples all the time in exchange for reviews etc. Nothing immoral about any of that, but what IS immoral is FM's policies against right to repair, and things like the tamper bricking which is really a "booby trap" that destroys your Gt if you open it up to work on it. Stuff like that is unforgivable from a moral standpoint. I have no love for FM until they end all the "anti repair" practices and JUST SELL SPARE PARTS. it would be so easy for them to do. @@User_92020 .. good to hear! Yeah I have 2 XRs, both the older hardware version so I can swap batteries and controllers between them etc for fault finding and fixing. As someone who lives on the other side of the planet from California, I find their policy of forcing customers to send the entire onewheel back to california for any repairs to be particularly immoral. It's good to know that they've resolved some of the major issues. One that still remains (in my opinion) is reworking PushBack. Although informing the rider that they're gettin' after it too hard, I still don't feel that a sudden shut down is a positive. The board (again, in my opinion) should smoothly come to a stop and then require a power reset in order to get going again. This would invariably reduce the number of injuries, both minor and severe. Anywho, glad you got to visit Santa Cruz...where it seems that the road system was designed by folks who were totally ripped, or blind. #drivingbybraille ~8^)

There’s no way for anyone to tell you definitively whether it’s safe for you or not. Your health and bodily well-being are your own. They are hella fun, though. I’m 32 and I learned how to do it relatively well. I also have fallen off the board a handful of times and I never felt good afterward…but I was able to get back on. It’s a calculated risk, as they say, for the sake of something rad and fun.
@AuRowe2 жыл бұрын
There is plenty of even older folks onewheeling, but "no sense of balance" could be a concern. It's really fun though! If you go for it just take it slow with wrist guards, helmet, etc, and learn on carpet or grass. And go for GT since the tire for that model is wider than the Pint X.
@AuRowe2 жыл бұрын
Also, nothing is safe in the PEV world. Onewheel and EUC has added risks that are more out of our control compared to e-scooters or e-bikes due to requiring constant motor engagement to keep the balance, and we all must accept that risk and "dress for the slide, not the ride" (common motorcycle quote)

Healthy one wheel is where other manufactures can make them and where are you can buy every single part for the product or have repair places throughout United States sorry still future lotion try kite foiling or winging that motorized foil boring after an hour .And 14,000 for that electric foil for that price jet ski or quiver of kites and a foil board or a quiver of wings and a wing board give it a try you’ll never go back to battery fun
