I really like the sissy squat. It helped me to be able to kneel down on the ground again. Which I genuinely had no ability to do after foot crush injuries & injuries to both hips & quads. Now is it a pencil neck exercise? In my opinion it’s a great tool for keeping the knees etc healthy so that you CAN squat some serious loads. I’m also a huge fan of super deep range of motion stretching on the quads too. You know the one where you lie on your back and pull your ankles under your butt. Super deep quad stretch.

Since I’ve even mentioned warming up my knees I’ll also say that I do a leg curl or laying leg curl before any of the quad exercises I’m doing right now. It’s a good way to warm up your knees before really putting them under load from your quad exercises. This feels good for me and I hope that maybe this helps someone out.
