I don't even lift, but man.. This gotta be one of the weirdest gyms out there. Do you think they are weird on purpose, or did someone seriously think this would match in any way?

You know, I have moved to this way of thinking this last month or so. As a relatively new lifter, I became obsessive about perfect form/perfect exercise/perfect set range. It started to suck the joy out of it. Much happier just doing what I enjoy and seeing what I get out of it. All roads lead to the same destination if you lift hard and heavy enough.

A lot of “science based” don’t take phenomenological perspectives into account, which, given that working out is inherently direct interaction with reality, is absolutely essential.

Sir Horsecock has immense lifting wisdom. I knew Eric was right all this time, but seeing Jeff's research proving Dr.Desity's point was pure joy. I think individuals like Enkiri and Eric Bugenhagen are a breath of healthy fresh air in the stale and strict world of KZbin fitness.

If the new study showed that the lengthened partials don't really make much of a difference, where did he get this idea to begin with? I thought he was the science guy.

Should really watch more of the actual videos brother. People dismiss you when they know you only watched 5 seconds of the video then have a 39 minute opinion. It gives them ammo to say you just think you know it all. They immediately write you off as the big dumb bro ape. Let Jeff make his points in total, then break it down. A lot of times you say something or point something out that they literally address in their video but you skipped over it or haven’t let it play long enough for them to make their point. Gives that dumb brute vibe when you watch 2 minutes total and want to give a full breakdown or opinion of it.. I believe you’ll gain a lot more respect if you actually let the people explain fully- then critique. Even if you’ve watched the video ahead of time, it doesn’t come off like that to the random new viewer. Play 60 seconds, give a reaction, of 30 seconds, 2-3 minutes… whatever..repeat…You’re more and more not even playing the video- just ranting. … just tossing it out there, no shade, your the man. I think it’ll help you grow the channel. Just throwing a nice warm tid bit your way

Exercise science isn't a science, it's an art. A business art. These youtube fitness doctors are not doctors they're salesmen. Usually they're unnecessary physiologists and nutritionists with the sum knowledge of maybe 40 units of biology that you could learn from the khan academy website that's rotting in their brain but that they paid thousands of dollars for so they could regurgitate it at dumbasses that don't know their game in highschool halls and on youtube. These studies are rife with bad science, everything is associative correlation never causation, the variables are too high to derive satisfying conclusions, they never have a proper control even in the case of left/right arm/leg studies there's the potential cross-education effect where one arm grows despite not being trained just because our mind and body likes a degree of symmetry, but worst of all there's always 10 things wrong with the methodology even before accounting for the lack of human biopsy and ethical and practical limitations such as not being able to monitor ppl 24/7 while forcing them to eat, drink, live, and train certain ways with total adherence. Most of the studies are also surveys and questionnaires. Exercise and Nutrition "scientists" are borderline charlatans when they're trying to use what they do as authorization to establish dogmatism and adherence solely based on their "science" which they can't prove. Their goals generally are only to make you feel like there's a BREAKTHROUGH happening that you should be excited FOR THEM about.

I think what Jeff's study shows is similar to what the body of research has shown thus far: lengthened partials are about the same as full ROM. This suggests that the lengthened position is what mostly matters for muscle growth, because if it's the same growth skipping the end ROM, then clearly the end ROM doesn't build much muscle. I think this is helpful since a lot of people skip the bottom ROM on a large number of movements, like bench, shoulder press, bicep curls, tricep extensions, rows, squats, etc. They're the ones robbing themselves of growth. We've known this intuitively for years: people who do quarter squats have small legs, people who don't touch their chest on bench have small pecs, etc. If you're doing full ROM already, good, you're set. The full ROM is still going to be superior for strength since strength is joint angle specific. If you want a bigger bench, skipping the lockout is going to be harmful in that pursuit. So it seems to me Dr. Mike's old way of full ROM was already the way to go. But just make sure you're actually doing full ROM on a specific exercise. Clearly, tension does matter, so people can get good results by adding load to a less than full ROM movement, but that can lead to injuries long term since you're skipping the deep, stretched position, and because using more weight accrues more fatigue. In a bodybuilding context, SFR still matters, as does total training volume.

The moving goalpost in this argument- not that it’s more effective, now it’s more eeeefffiiccciiieennttt (Dr. Density voice) is ridiculous. Nip pats and Dr Mike are clowns if they keep trying to push this, especially since Mikey already pivoted from being full ROM to partial rom. The cognitive bias displayed is overwhelming. Surprisingly Mike O Hearn, he of good takes and awful personality, had a great point- everyone talk hypertrophy hypertrophy hypertrophy- you’re not only made of muscle! As you said Bugez, the joint has a range of motion FOR A REASON. If you were hanging off the side of a mountain, would a lengthened partial get you to safety? If you went to punch someone, could you knock them out with a lengthened partial? IT’S SO DUMB IT MAKES MY HEAD HURT HELP ME ERIC AND THANK YOU FOR BEING MY FRAND
