What's kind of interesting to me about setting up Draco Masters vs Draco Berserker is that, mechanically, it's a mutual kill; Draco Berserker can't destroy Draco Masters by battle and has no defense against Masters's effect to pop, but as soon as Draco Masters uses that effect, Draco Berserker can just use its effect to Banish them in response. Also, there's a layer of mechanical irony there, because vanilla Berserker can walk over Draco Masters without any effort since it's a non-Effect Monster, meaning none of Draco Masters's effects can do shit against it. So the pursuit of power at all costs actually made Draco Berserker more vulnerable to the Tenyi Style.

Tenyi is probably one of the best designed archetypes in the last 4-5 years of yugioh. Fair and efficient. Good for both new players and has a high ceiling for experienced players.

Does it, though? What can you do besides make generic Link monsters? If you include Swordsoul cards, it quickly turns into a worse version of _that_ deck but Ashuna, your best extender, locks you into Wyrms, which have barely any Link monsters worth making (Sahasrara protects your Effect monsters from targeting but that's not worth the material).

But part of the surprise benefits of a more pure Tenyi is that the monsters will just blindside opponents with reborns, pops, stat changes, etc whenever they try to take out a normal monster. Though the deck around release was just sort of Sasahara + Vanity's. But tbf Gouki also has one of the coolest link toolboxes ever but became nothing but 4 main deck cards in Warrior Toolbox. And Salamangreat went from a fun endless grind control deck, to "Accescode for game or lose."

No, true bliss is when you open crazy enough to do BOTH and can end on two Level 8 Synchros AND a Level 10. Sometimes I can even get a third Level 8 and/or Protoss, at which point it almost feels like I'm cheating.

I love how they included Phantasm Spiral and Adventure, since those are (at least theoretically) non-effect support. Even Invoked has the Earth non-effect monster that can be made with Monk, it's beautiful.

if ashuna didnt wyrm lock you, there would be a very high potential of breaking tenyis if ever any other strong deck that utilises non effect monsters shows up Even with the lock the potential is still there, but it is significantly weaker

Konami was fortunately intelligent for once and designed the cards well. Dragon Circle negates the effects of a monster and Ashuna Wyrm locks. I do not want to live in the universe where these aren't true.

Ever since I picked up my Swordsoul-Tenyi deck, it's been an absolute staple, but also an absolute blast. Just today, I was able to out-grind a Runick/Stun deck and won on the last draw in my deck, thanks to Shaman's effect to resurrect a 5600-ATK Chengying for the KO.

What I like about the Tenyi storyline is that it isn't yet another "save the world" or "end of the world" type deal. It's legitimately just a dispute between 2 opposing schols of martial arts regarding which style is better. The classic "traditionalist" school of thought vs the modern "practical" school of thought. Now, this IS a japan made story, so I already know the traditionalists are set to win anyway, but it's still cool.

I like how Tenyi basically gave a reason for all those extra deck monsters that don't do anything to exist. Sure, you probably won't play most of them, but there are people who might want to find something to. Ready Fusion targets and Gem Knight Pearl immediately come to mind as the most accessible ones, and then there's that Gaia Synchro and Link monster that are both just kinda there.

The Gaia synchro is weird, but the link monster makes sense for the time period. A 2600 generic link with decent arrows was decent. Keep in mind, that was when one of the best link monsters was Traffic Ghost because of the arrows, and when Decode Talker plays were actually good. Master Rule 4 was an interesting time.

I'm so upset about that opening hand he got in the adventure tenyi gate. I lost 3 games in a row on that gate because the game only gave me the lv4 tenyi's, the bad adventure cards and the tenyi field spell that makes the games like his first game in the tenyi gate. The ratios in that deck are so bad and it gives you extrav just so you can use it and banish all your monks.

The field spells are so fucking bad, they should all have an alternate effect that summons the Token like Runick cards. Since they don't get you Fateful then they wouldn't enable the engine, but would be good to turn on their actual effects for playing pure.

The story mode was fun, but it's disappointing that Konami just abandons some lore right in the middle of their stories. They did it with the Invoked/Prophecy/Endymion lore as well. Stuff like Branded and Visas gets nearly 100 cards over the course of years, while other stories get cut off right in the middle when Konami simply loses interest.

@@UrLeingod Umm Tenyi debuted in mid 2019 so its not like the N/R festival revelaed them, people knew they were good, people knew with the right deck they were very interruption ressiliant and people knew they had immense potential, they just didnt have high enough ceiling, and also didnt go anywhere meaningful with their lines before SS, SS made their ceiling way higher, gave them better direction, while they gave SS reccursion, non normal summon starters, and interruption ressiliance, so its a match made in heaven But it definitely didnt take SS for people to realize their potential, it just took another Wyrm strategy with better payoff to make them splashable in it. Wyrms are generally not that utilised as a card type, and most of the time when they are, its just a random cards that arent based on them being Wyrms, Yang Zing being the only other relevant archetype aside from SS. And they would absolutely be used with them as well if there werent for their timing issues

And yeah, I'm well aware Tenyi on its own wasn't good enough to be meta, I'm just saying that the deck was still *good* and fun to play, but it felt like in Master Duel people only cared about it during the N/R Event and then when Swordsoul came out.
