Listening to this song being sung by you is helping me, a 31 year old male, deal with my alcoholic parents disappointing me yet another night. Their lies about change only to drink every other day yet again, causing more trouble and blaming everyone but themselves. My father used to be my rock when my abusive mother would torture me and my little brother, now he is slowly turning into her due to abuse of alcohol, complaining we dare to speak against their choices and try to help. So, thank you for coming in clutch, I guess I will be okay.

Somewhat similar story for my mom, specific the drug abuse (in this case I believe crack not alcohol) and the saying they changed but not actually doing so. My grandma abandoned her and her half sisters for her drug dealer (Thankfully my grandpa was around for my mom and my great grandaunt was around to help with all 4 including my mom, my great grandaunt is around because my great grandma was also not that great and dated a Columbian drug lord who made my grandma addicted to drugs at age of 8). When I was born she tried to reconnect but she fell back into her old way's. She is also one hell of a manipulator, I didn't feel like going to the funeral of my great granduncle because I got so sad at the open casket. She said my mom was keeping me from going which was a lie, and that plus a lot more lies made my great grandaunt not like my mom. Thankfully the manipulation is starting to fail and be noticed and most family is on my mom's side and cut contact. Still sad, every other one of my grandparents are good people but she just is such a disappointment and also she lives in Florida.

A beautiful cover of such a heartbreaking but relatable song! And as someone who's been through a similar situation as Octavia and has her as one of my favorite characters because of it, I have nothing but sympathy for her in regards to her situation and her feelings about it. Even without Stella and Adrealphus hovering over her, she's still a teenager going through one of the most difficult things a kid can go through all alone, as well as reeling from the fact that the parent she was clearly the closest to having no problem throwing his life away for the person he promised he wouldn't leave her for. She needs a safe outlet to express her feelings before anything else.

Great song and having Octavia sing this at the close of season 2 is even more big for me since your cover of You will be Okay was the first thing i saw from Helluva Boss. I likely heard Addict before it as I knew both before watching either show, but thats not important. Going into the show basing my assumption of Stollas purely on the short video clip of him singing You will be Okay in the show was very funny, he was not what I expected lol. Your cover of You will be Okay was my #1 listened song last year and #2 in 2023. This song is damn good and will make a nice addition to my playlists.
