The Father and the Son are the Parents of the Holy Spirit, if many churches are correct. If many churches are correct, the Trinity is a Family-- two Parents and a Progeny, similar to a human family.(Humans are made in the "likeness" and "image" of God according to Genesis 1:26, although the human author of Genesis probably didn't know about the Trinity when he wrote Genesis) In the book of Job, which is in the Bible, God is compared to a father and a mother with a womb "From whose womb comes the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens?"-Job 38:29. Because we can think of God as like a mother (Isaiah 42:14, Isaiah 66:13, Matthew 23:37, Catechism of the Catholic Church 2nd edition paragraph 239), all three roles(Father,Mother,Progeny) in a basic human family are filled in the Trinity. Saying that the Father and the Son are the Parents of the Holy Spirit is another way of saying "the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son" which has been official Catholic teaching for centuries. The Church teaches that the Son is begotten by the Father. If this is correct, the Father is the Father(Parent) of the Son. The Church teaches that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. If this is correct, the Father and the Son are Parents of the Holy Spirit. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (second edition) paragraph 246 says that the Holy Spirit's "nature and subsistence" is "at once...from the Father and the Son."If the Church calls Mary mother(parent) of God even if Mary isn't the first source of Christ's humanity(God is the first source), then the Son can also be called a Parent of God (the Holy Spirit). If the Church is correct, the Father is the principle-Parent and the Son is the begotten-Parent. The scriptures are vague if the Holy Spirit is the Second or Third Person of the Trinity, whichever of these is true, the First and the Second may be the Parents of the Third. Parent definition from Merriam-Webster dictionary: One that begets or brings forth offspring. Principle means base/foundation/first-source/first-origin/root-cause. Wow.. Fr Schmitz' testimony stunned me, but then, we are all broken in varied degrees. Fortunate for us, God pursued him until he came to his knees and said yes to serve God. When his hands come together to the power of God at 9:32.. to date, not a Mass I've been to where tears do not flow in knowing what is transpiring before me and others. The Mass is the most important and beautiful thing in my life. Fr. Schmitz is one of maybe 10, whom brought me into becoming Catholic 4/3/2021.. good ol' corona couldn't stop the power of God calling me home. Thank you, Fr Schmitz and God bless you, and Fr Johnson.. I will be praying for you both.

I've seen this video just two times, and every time a tear comes to my eye. This is so profound! Right now I'm in my RCIA course, in Russia, and even in this state I try to figure out what is my future. At first, going to Mass, I thought like, hey, I'll work on my life, do some really good things, give alms etc, and finally I will marry a good girl, long live, end of story, you know...But as I read The Catechism, The Bible, some other books, my book of prayers, which I always carry, I've realized that there was definitely something more, than I could have ever thought... Maybe I am the other one not to just receive all the gifts that God gives to us every day, but to give them as well, who knows?..Right now I'm sure, I really want to become a Deacon, but in my current state I think that finally becoming a Priest is the best vocation for me, ever. Nevertheless I continue to pray as the process of discerning God's will goes, and as the count of small personal revelations grows, someday I will definitely hear the God's call for me forever and ever.P.S. Fr. Mike, If you read this, just know: you are my hero, you've finally encouraged me to say YES to the one true Church (I was an Eastern Orthodox, for record, and I'm happy to reunite with my sisters and brothers in Christ all around the World). God Bless!

Thanks to both priests for sharing your honest stories. It had to have been really hard to bare your souls like that. I was wondering in Fr. Mike’s case how you came to be a missionary when you were so angry at the time. Perhaps you were following Our Lord then without knowing it. I have realized this in my own life - that He was looking after me and was having me follow His will at least to some degree when I was completely unaware of it. I am so thankful in my own life that Our Lord was taking care of me when I was far away from Him.
