When I first started I was like green. I thought the goal of Risk was to hold as many bonuses as I could while also policing the board and making sure none of my neighbors had bonuses. Then I watched some of Pete and learned that you can't police the board. Then I played like pink and guarded my bonuses and didn't care what others did. Then I watched more of Pete and realized I could work with other players and be a good neighbor, that bonuses aren't as important in mid/late game progressive, and to not leave my cap unguarded. Now I would say I play like blue, maybe a bit too cautious and not always knowing when it is time to attack.
@dontmindme6995
@dontmindme6995 7 ай бұрын
although blue didn't see that Pete was cardblocked by black, took it personal that Pete destroyed their bonus in oder to take a card and lined up their troops in retaliation for the break. So I think if you watched Pete that much you probably would have seen that Pete didn't have any options. Therefore I'd assume that you're better

No fog alows players to notice faster when you get really strong and greedy and is therefore negative for this kind of playstyle. It prolongs the game in many cases, cause it's easier to maintain a balance when everything is visible. It's not profitable anymore to have a good sense of what's going on behind the fog, to estimate how strong an enemy is, if you can get a kill. All these skills can't be used to set yourself apart from the less experienced players. In short, it makes the game less complex, which is a benefit to less experienced players, but a detriment for the topplayers.

Great game Pete! It was a pleasure watching your play _and your exceptionally honourable and _*_thoughtful_*_ personality,_ as always. Question for you: _why did you_ *CHECK* _to_ *VERIFY* _that the other player was live?_ As you pointed out: as soon as you *KNEW* that he was live (flawed) fair-play mandated surrender, _but prior to personal confirmation it was hearsay_ - *you did not **_KNOW_** that they were streaming!* Had been told? Absolutely! Strongly _suspected_ that the information was accurate? Probably. As far as I can tell, Fair Play makes no mention of ~"unfair to play if you _suspect_ that you *_could_* cheat" - it would make no sense to do so, since that clause would mean that anyone who had imagined (but never used, or even tested the viability of) a way of cheating could never play... I look forward to hearing your thoughts. _THANK YOU again for your work_ ❤ Edit: improved formatting

You make a good point. I joined his game, ironically because I'd been getting sniped a bit recently. I hear someone in my chat claim I'm facing him, I want to verify the claim. I got nothing against Secsi and definitely don't want to be sniping his game so once I found out I was I backed down. It's worth more to me than maybe winning one individual game.
@-ross3778
@-ross3778 8 ай бұрын
@@FreePete Ah! Either you or I have a misconception of 'sniping.' _I_ have always understood it to mean "gaining an advantage by viewing another player's screen while you're in the same game." By _my_ understanding you would not have been 'sniping' if you continued playing _as long as you were not simultaneously watching his stream._ For clarity (and because I know we're both lovers of nuance 😁): an arguement could be made in a game with fog that even momentarily seeing the other person's screen (as you seemingly did while verifying) would have given you an advantage, and therefore continuing to play (even without continuing to watch their screen) _would_ constitute 'sniping' (by my definition). Either way though, _had you never verified that they were live you would have been both Playing Fair (by SMG's definition) and _*_not_*_ sniping (by my definition). SMG's definition is obtuse - even if you had kept watching their stream, _even if you had been in their chat_ (assuming you weren't colluding there) *how would that have given either of you an advantage over the other players?????* 🤦🏾‍♂️

As soon as I saw the chat talking about another player being a streamer I knew... Pete asks which color and I'm like this man is about to quit the game. Guys, if anyone reads this. Never tell a streamer information on opponents in competitive play. It not only ruins the stream, it puts the streamer in a terrible position in regards to morality and risks getting them in trouble for cheating. Please, just sit back and watch until matches/games are over and then enjoy the fact you got to watch the action from 2 angles.

Hey pete. Couple of questions... 1. I thought it was only fog games where what happened could be considered cheating. With no fog and no communication other then what is in the game in terms of emotes, how can SMG consider it cheating? 2. Does that mean if you played someone in a tournament game such as Kyle, Spud or Jj then technically by these rules you are cheating? If you/we/SMG want to have a risk community then this rule is counter productive. Top players will never get to play other top players.
@tobsi2256
@tobsi2256 8 ай бұрын
1) someone in another comment said that the opportunity to communicate outside the game is enough. (Makes sense for normal players, with streamers that are monitored(!) and video/chat evidence... idk.) 2) These rules don't apply to play with friends games. I think in tournament games there is a "code of honor" that applies. But yes, that'd be considered cheating by these rules.

It's a matter of degree.
@Runenschuppe
@Runenschuppe 8 ай бұрын
There are different reasons for why to break and when to break. Generally the question is "who profits?" and given that his in NOT a team game, the assumption is that you break others solely for your own benefit - unless you're acting in retaliation/revenge. So I'm assuming Pete's reasoning here is that starting a war is not profitable for the players involved - thus he "gets offended". If Green had been forced to break his bonus to take a card or had broken because Pete had been too far ahead, or because it had been fog of war etc., I'm assuming he'd have cared much less about that. He even partially addressed the issue in this video: "don't be afraid to let others get (additional) troops as long as they aren't pointed at you".
